Avalide and potassium

Common Questions and Answers about Avalide and potassium

avalide

Avatar f tn No significant health problems other than mild hypertension treated with Avalide. My potassium was low (I think due to the HCTZ in the Avalide). I don't drink, smoke or take any recreational drugs. I saw a neurologist, who says the MRI is normal, EEG is not (temporal lobe irregularities). He's on vacation...I'm traveling alot and can't see him for another 2 weeks. Is this a problem I need to see someone about before then?
Avatar f tn I was on avalide, toprol xl, procardia xl along with the norpace and had to take potassium because it would go too low for the norpace. I have not been able to take avalide since the episode and am now on Avapro which works bettermost of the time than using avalide. None of this makes sense to me or to my doctors since I should be back where this all began the middle of March when I took this antibiotic and had this episode.
492329 tn?1290883385 I take Avalide 150/12.5 and Atenolol 50 mg, am/pm for Avalide and he did up my Atenolol to twice a day. He wants me to walk 30 mins a day and lose 25 lbs in 6 mos. However, my head aches the minute I more my ears ring to. He seems to think they are not connected. I'm really, really terrified! Oh and I had a heart cath in Oct 2008 all okay, but he did mention an S4 but said it would go away when the pressure comes down.
Avatar m tn What I see as possibly significant is pulse pressure and possibly a start to dx.. Pulse pressure is the difference between systole and diastole and normal is about 40 mg. If the usual resting pulse pressure is consistently greater than 40 mmHg, e.g.
Avatar m tn Hello. I saw a sand like material in my urine this morning. I have seen this a few times before. What is this material? Should I be concerned? I was able to get sample. I have no pain, and I've seen no blood. I am a 55y/o male.
Avatar m tn I’m 58 yrs old, 5 ft 10 in and 200 lbs. I’ve been taking Avalide 150/12.5 for pre-hypertension for 8 months. I exercise six times per week and have done so for years; weights twice each week and spinning/bike four times. Any thoughts, input would be appreciated.

Avatar n tn ve been on Lopressor for years to keep my heart rate down and Avalide for blood pressure. Then in November, my arrthymia worsen. So after about 6 weeks of playing with my Lopressor dosage, my doctor cut the lopressor and put me on Cardizem which is a calcium channel blocker like verapamil. My heart rate became much worse...very rapid like around 120-140....after 3 days of this, I begged to get back on Lopressor so we did and it's back to how it was ...no better no worse....
Avatar m tn s time to take back your life and start living the happy, fulfilling life you deserve and want. There is so much help for you, and starting with AA and a psychiatrist is your best bet. You're not dying....yet, but you need to seek the needed help to turn this all around. Things happen in life which can be too much on us, and that's okay so long as you get the proper help.
492329 tn?1290883385 I've been on Atenolol 50mg and Avalide 150/12.5mg for 10 yrs. All of the sudden the Atenolol is making my heart rate drop too much and my cardio dropped it to 25mg (12.5mg in am/12.5mg in pm) and, of course, the palps/flutters started almost immediately. He believes it's anxiety and my GERD acting up!
Avatar n tn I've always had low pottassium and always had to eat a banana everyday. I also have Graves Disease, had hyperthyroidism and had RAI (radioactive iodine) then a Thyroidectomy. I never associated the two. I thought my low pottassium was from heart issues being born with a heart murmur. Maybe it does both fall together. Just get on the bananas and take a pottasium supplement everyday until the levels increase.
Avatar n tn They have a much higher amount of potassium (99mg is the minimum daily requirement). I had terrible leg cramps and started eating a couple bananas a day and snacking on raisins, and I rarely get them anymore.
Avatar n tn It does not specify which side effects are from potassium being too high and which are associated with it being too low, but you could certainly google "potassium too high" and get some good information.
Avatar f tn Last year I had NO potassium and ended up in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for five days. The shots are very painful but they do have potassium pills. I think they give you the pills after they have gotten some measure of potassium back into you. Please be extremely careful about this.
Avatar f tn blood test they said the urine came back fine but I had to go back a week later for my blood resaults so I go back kidneys and all came back good except my potassium it was 7.5.
Avatar n tn ve been browsing internet sites to gather information and saw that there is a link between high potassium levels and thyroid problems. My initial thyroid blood tests came up normal, TSH 1.47, T4Free 0.95 and T3,Free 312. my thyroglobulin antibodies were slightly high, at 21 and thyroid peroxidase antibodies were less than 10. The next blood labs, done in the hospital, were TSH .69, free T$ 0.74 and "normal" thyroid gland antibodies.
437036 tn?1225284804 Mornin' Toots, Many folks have more than one "issue" in the mix. I think you will find, if you browse through some of the posts here, that you are not alone. I'm no expert and certainly do NOT possess a medical degree and more than likely am wrong, but it's my GUESS that a person with OCD may not have any anxiety problems. They probably don't like washing their hands a million times a day or checking that they turned the oven off......
Avatar m tn Sorry can't help on the question about potassium and its relationship to hemoglobin. I know iron usually raises hemoglobin, but high iron isn't always good for the liver, either... maybe for the time being adding just a little more iron-rich food to your diet (red meat, broccoli, dark greens, etc.) to give you a little hgb boost? Hopefully someone who's better at the biochemistry will pop in. I know you must feel crummy...!
Avatar f tn Potassium is a chemical element and it is part of the electrolyte that should be in balance with other lytes to adequately conduct an electrical impulse that originates with the sinus node in the right atrium. The mechanism of action is not completely understood, but what is when a voltage (unit of potential for conduction) and electrolyte there will conduction and passage of electrical impluses.
Avatar f tn That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium. I starting concentrating on foods with potassium such as bananas and also increased my supplement to two a day instead of one. Now, lately, on top of the fatigue I was already having (from other issues?) I have been feeling swimmy-headed and having a lot of headaches as well as increased feeling of exhaustion. I am wondering if I am taking in too much potassium now.
1243333 tn?1296446902 Thanks, they have tried Hydrochloride, Toprol-XL ,aliskiren Oral Tablet ,Clonidine pill, HCTZ Lisinopril, Avapro, Avalide, & Bystolic I had allergic reactions to the lisinopril and one of the others and not sure why they switched me from a couple of the others, Thanks so much, Babs
431644 tn?1236899573 I got a call from dr have to take potassium for 3 days. Mine was 3.1 and normal is 3.4. The MCHC was high also. Went to walmart with hub lastnight and couldn't breath and shook all over heart racing and then finally stopped. Then came home and did it gain at bedtime. Always at bedtime it seems for me or mornings. Weird.......
Avatar m tn The left ventricular wall, including the septum, altered its size and shape normally and moved appropriately in systole and diastole. There was no evidence of segmental wall motion abnormality. The estimated ejection fraction is 85%. The mitral valve shows mild annular calcification. The valvular leaflets appear pliable and move appropriately without evidence of stenosis or prolapse.
Avatar n tn I had hyperthyroidism (had a PT), and I had low potassium; I still do. I eat a lot of bananas and apples, but the endo wants me to take potassium supplements as well. It seems to me it has to do with the thyroid, but getting an answer from the endo on it seems to be impossible!
1546132 tn?1293633801 The low levels of potassium could explain the blood pressure elevations and leg cramps. How does high iron levels affect potassium uptake/levels? Any help much appreciated!
