Well i went to the doc sunday, he did a strep test and it did test positive. He gave me Augmentin 875, and I went home and everyone said gargle gargle gargle. So I started gargling Listerine, is it possible that by gargling too much listerine I can make my throat more raw? Or will the Listerine just keep on helping?
i went to the the doctors and tested negative on a rapid strep test for strep throat. i also tested negative for mono through a blood test. they gave a culture to a lab for a more thorough strep test, that has not come back yet. to treat my throat they gave me augmentin (amoxicilin and clavulanate). so far i have taken one pill and i will take another in 12 hours.
on my left tonsil, half of the inflamed tonsil is covered by a flap of skin.
Two weeks ago, Monday the 7th I went to the doctor with a sever sore throat and was giving Augmentin to take for 10 days (twice a day). My throat was really sore, I had a 103 degree fever, and thyroid glands were swollen. Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen didn't do much to relieve the pain. The rapid strep test said I did not have strep throat, but after looking at my throat a few times the doctor believed the test was wrong and gave me Augmentin.
Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. I had oral sex again with the asymptomatic guy again on 4/11. I was informed by the guy who developed gonorrhea of all this today, 4/14, and have not had sex with him since before his symptoms began.
However, last week of Februaru I developed white spots at the back of my throat. My doctor said it was strep and gave me Augmentin which reduced the appearance somewhat but not completely. I got the covid vaccine astrazeneca, got a fever and the white spots increased once again (even worse). My doctor gave me Augmentin again for a week along with flucanazole. I’m at the end of the course of treatment. The white spots have decreased but some are still there.

I recently took a 10 day course of augmentin for strep throat or tonsillitis (I took the prescription prior to testing to see which). Toward the end of the treatment, I started to experience some mild discomfort after urninating. Weeks later I am still experiencing that discomfort, in varying degrees. Usually if I am better hydrated it is milder. It is never terrible, just a mild burning or itching. The location is toward the tip of the penis, but inside.
Scared I called my doctor, yet he told me that it is a side effect that is common with the high dose of augmentin I recieved. I finished the augmentin and I have no sore throat just thrush I recently started an anti fungal for it though. So I have some questions.
1.When someone contracts HIV are symptoms spread out like this?
2. Is 6 weeks too late to have symptoms of ARS?
3. Do you think that the thrush is medication related or HIV related, would it show up after 3 months?
You need a mono test, and a strep test due to the rash and sore throat, also a throat culture to test for different bacterias (Strep A and Strep B). The rapid strep tests they do in the clinic only test for one type of strep. Also, even though rare anymore, you should ask them about possible scarlet fever. You need a new CBC done, it is possible that the WBC has went up since the last test. And also have an epstein barr virus test just in case the rapid mono spot test comes back negative.
I am concerned because in addition to these abscesses I also have had repeat strep throat infections where all of the infections have come back positive for Strep Type G (never type A). Like the abscesses these infections present quickly (less than 12 hours) and within a day I have a fever and severe pain. Additionally the throat infections have been progressively getting worse (i.e. they are now prescribing pain relievers so I can eat).

There isnt a stong odor however. My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin,spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection).

I thought for sure this meant I either contracted oral gonorrhea or chlamydia. On Feb 1 I developed a severe red scratchy throat, and I still had several mouth ulcers. I took Augmentin 500 3x/day for 10days. After the 10days I still had a sore throat that feels like an ulcer down my throat, and I also still had about 10 mouth ulcers as well as swollen gums. I went to my Internal MD and he put me on Medrol dose pack and Levaquin. This initially helped w/ the mouth ulcers but the one down my throat got much worse. I was given a Celestone inj and put on Orapred.
Two days later I woke up with a sore throat and bright green mucus going down the back of my throat. The next day I went to the University health center where I tested negative for the rapid strep test. I went ahead and got the GC done as well just to be safe. The strep culture ended up coming back positive with strep group G and negative in the GC. I asked about my tonsils (which didnt seem to concern the doctor) had miniscule white streaks which I was told was just mucus caught in them.
My throat has been red for a month and over the last two weeks a breathing problem has developed (heartbeat, tight throat/chest, can't get a full breath of air). I'm fairly healthy and usually run about 5 miles every other day and get to the gym for an hour/day 3-5 times a week. I have been struggling with both of these activities and it's starting to get to me mentally.
I tested negative for gonorrhea/clamydia with the throat swab but I tested positive for group c strep (which is rare). The guy also got a uti within one week of the oral sex.
I was given amoxicillin. The sore throat went away but one tonsil stayed very swollen and is still the same two months later! I am also having nerve pain on the same side and one swollen lymph node that always stays swollen. I have seen my dr numerous times and have tested negative for stds.
During the 2nd round of Augmentin, complaints of headache and tummyache continued, this time his neck also started hurting and also throat. He was diagnosed with strep throat and put on Cephalexin and the doctor said "wait a week or two for the headaches to subside". By this time it has been 6+ weeks with the headache and we got fed up and took him to another doc. who ordered an MRI.
