I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

Augmentin and Zocor have been known to be potentially hepatotoxic. Tylenol is safe, if it is taken as directed (less than 4,000 mg/daily). I imagine that those 3 drugs taken together can increase the potential for damage to the liver.
Have you talked with your doctor about possibly substituting another lipid lowering drug...and getting off the Zocor? Are you still taking Augmentin?
Remember to be careful about your tylenol intake...
Augmentin can cause liver damage, as can tylenol (if you take more than the recommended 4,000 mg/day). I suppose that the risk would be increased with concurrent use of augmentin and tylenol. Usually, once you have stopped taking the medication, your enzymes could trend downwards to normal.
Do you take any cardiac medications (ie. amiodorone, etc)?

The pill is still safe to take, but (as far as i'm aware with all contraceptive pills) your antibiotics will counteract with the pill and make it less effective so using condoms for the next few weeks is an idea. But apart from that you should be safe to mix them...tylenol is safe to take with most antibiotics as far as i'm aware and won't effect your pill either since it's just a ain reliever.
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
i had to antibiotics during my first triimester with Em and she is a healthy 10 month old now....i cringe at the thought of any medication in my system while im preg....i even try to ride out headaches without taking tylenol....antibiotics are safe in preg...if you are in doubt....

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
Scared I called my doctor, yet he told me that it is a side effect that is common with the high dose of augmentin I recieved. I finished the augmentin and I have no sore throat just thrush I recently started an anti fungal for it though. So I have some questions.
1.When someone contracts HIV are symptoms spread out like this?
2. Is 6 weeks too late to have symptoms of ARS?
3. Do you think that the thrush is medication related or HIV related, would it show up after 3 months?
My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin,spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.
I really thought I felt better when I was getting the shots. The Rocephin interrupted the course of Augmentin, so I finished the Augmentin after the shots were complete. I think I finished the Augmentin on a Friday, and that Saturday I had virtually no symptoms at all. Sunday they returned and have been bothering since.
Hi Vance, thank you. I tested 2 days after symptoms, they are mild and I am quite sure it's not syphilis, but still burning a bit when peeing. That's why I would finish with Augmentin, do you agree? What problems could I have by taking Augmentin if I have no infections at all? Thanks.

Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me. If the medication doesn`t go with my seizure condition, then please tell me what the safest antibiotic would be. Thank you!!!
Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. As an empirical therapy, its better to start with augmentin, this is already been done in your case. Otherwise levofloxacin can be effective alternative. If the symptoms still persists then get endoscopically guided culture and you may have to be redirected to newer antibiotics. If symptoms subside, there is no more need of antibiotics. I suggest you to consult ENT specialist. Take care and regards.
