I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
Hello I have severe pain under my crown, my gums are swollen around the crown and are also sore, the most extreme pain I've ever had with a tooth. I had some augmentin on hand which I started taking today, can't see dentist until tues. Does anyone know what this is? Please help. Started yesterday, so today is my second day with this pain. Also have slight swelling in my cheek.
I recently took a 10 day course of augmentin for strep throat or tonsillitis (I took the prescription prior to testing to see which). Toward the end of the treatment, I started to experience some mild discomfort after urninating. Weeks later I am still experiencing that discomfort, in varying degrees. Usually if I am better hydrated it is milder. It is never terrible, just a mild burning or itching. The location is toward the tip of the penis, but inside.
I went to see my GP who asked me to see a surgeon because he thought it was an anal fissure.The surgeon prescribed me Augmentin 625mg twice a day for 5 days. And lidocaine+fucidin cream (fusidic acid) to apply on the rectum and the ulcer. I have been doing that but the ulcer doesn't seem to heal. Also, Augmentin has given me diarrhea in the past so I was not very satisfied with his prescription.
I've had a sinus infection for five days and have been on antibiotics (augmentin, or amoxicillin) for 2.5 days (5 doses) already and have seen no improvement. I am in so much pain and am worried about my unborn baby's health. Does anyone have experience with this? Shouldn't the antibiotics be working at least a little by now? I'm halfway through the prescription.
The DR. Prescribed me augmentin and the pain subsided until the meds were gone. Four days later on Thanksgiving all of the symptoms returned. I went to the ER again to get a different diagnosis or pharyngitis. I was prescribed clindamycin and prednisone. This prescription is taking longer to subdue my symptoms though I have only been on it one day. I was never administered a sti screening and I was wondering if I should get one. But can I get a sti screening while on antibiotics?
I would call the doctor because he can switch it to something like augmentin or another antibiotic that's "safe" or at least safer in pregnancy. Antibiotics even the safe ones all have their drawbacks in pregnancy. I.e. they can be the reason for the second onset of the hemorrhagic disease of the newborn (this is why they administer Vitamin K at birth).
So, anyway, call your doctor & have him change the prescription asap.
I went to the doctor a week ago, and she seemed to think they were bacterial and gave me a prescription for Augmentin and Bactroban ointment. They have slowly started to look better, but today I noticed they had a bulleyes appearance. Do you think this could be Lyme disease?
I have white/clear mucous and have used augmentin and azithromax one course after another (augmentin first and then azithromax) given by my doctor but the cough is not gone. My chest x ray is normal but the doctor could not do a pft because of my continuous cough at that time. My blood work for pneumonia diabetes and cholesterol are all good. sinus CT scan is normal too. Is this viral is it okay to take several months for cough to go away. I have no wheezing or asthma history.
On Friday, June 11th, I was diagnosed with otitis media (middle ear infection) and placed on Augmentin and pain reliving drops. I am still experiencing pain as if someone is stabbing me in the ear, it is keeping me awake, and my ear is completely blocked with what feels like fluid. I stil feel awful and cannot get comfortable at all.
Should I return to the doctor? My ear is hurting me a lot and I am having pain into my kneck and terrible headaches.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Is it possible that i irrateded my urethra from this. on may 5 i took some augmentin 4 pills 875mg and 2 pills the each day following. Total 14 pills. Stupid i know.
I have no discharge in the morning and urinating only hurts when i squeeze my penis before urinating.
1. Could i get chlamydia from this?
2. is this my anxiety and squeezing what causes the discomfort? How long can an irritated urethra give discomfort?
3. I know its stupid but did the augmentin cure the possible chlamydia?
I got it from a girl who unknowingly had a yeast infection while I was on an antibiotic known as Augmentin for a foot injury (which apparently made me vulnerable to contracting a yeast infection). He put me on dyflucan and over the counter topical cream. The dyflucan was supposed to also re stabilize my stomach bacteria because I was having horrible stomach cramps possibly due to the augmentin and the yeast infection apparently.
Can GERD cause difficult breathing, dry mouth, dry throat, wheezing, dizzy? I have not taken medicine after 10 day antibiotics prescription but doctor prescribed me Anti-Acid medicine but I have not taken it for Almost two months...

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
I went to the doctor and he had me take a **** test and he prescribed me with 14, 100mg tabs of Augmentin (Amoxicillin Clavulanate) and 10, 500mg tabs of Ciprobay, (Ciprofloxacin). After taking the antibiotics the swelling went down and returned to normal withing a couple days.
Now in March, 6 months later, after getting over a cold I received oral sex w/out a condom and sexual intercourse with a condom. This time there is NO BURNING while urinating.
Hi everyone, I have 3 cats that are litter mates. 1 little Princess girl, and 2 little stinker boys. I also have 4 other kitties. The 2 brothers came to blows about 4 days back and now 1 has an abscess by his ear on the top of his head. I've been able to clean it with some Chlorhexidine scrub and warm water a couple times since finding the abscess yesterday. This evening while cleaning it I started getting a lot of nasties out of it.
The reason I am asking is because I was exposed to needless antibiotics in an ER then my testicals turned red like a yeast issue, then I had 10 days of 4000mgs of Augmentin for a constipation/colon infection. Then after a week of concluding that I developed gastritis for the first time, and a thrush.
anyone else have side effects AFTER STOPPING augmentin after the full 10 day dose? I have been off for two days and have awful sweating and hot flashes. I am male, and in relatively good shape. bp has been in the 140/70 range for three days. odd stuff. Ive usually had plain ole amoxicillin, but this stuff takes the cake.
Hi, Iam 12wks pregnant. I was given augmentin sr tablets to treat a sinus infection. The doc said it's safe but I am scared to take it.
I got the augmentin 400-57 suspension on Saturday afternoon. It is now Tuesday evening. It has been at room temp this entire time. How critical is refrigeration?
1) although not preferred, will the Augmentin regimen clear me of anything?
2) how soon could I be accurately tested for STD's?
