Hi All,
Iam having a terrible toothache the dentist said it is my wisdom tooth growing below my other tooth.She prescribed penicillin due to infections and I have a fever. I am scared to take it thinking that it may affect my babies. I am pregnant with twins.My first pregnancy ended in m/c at 5 1/2/ months.She said its ok for pregnant women to take.I am still taking my progestorones.
Do any of you out there can give me any advise.It will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, antibiotics, such as amoxicillin for 2 weeks, have been the recommended first-line treatment of uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Amoxicillin-clavulanate (Augmentin) is also an appropriate first-line treatment of uncomplicated acute sinusitis. Other options include cephalosporins such as cefpodoxime proxetil (Vantin) and cefuroxime (Ceftin). In patients allergic to beta-lactams, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim), clarithromycin (Biaxin), and azithromycin.
I also got good news that I am to finish my current box of Bicillin (penicillin) shots and then switch to an oral long lasting Augmentin (penicillin). I took Augmentin 875 for a week when I first got sick, not knowing what I had, and I recovered from my severe flu-like symptoms in a couple of days. It worked great. I don't finish my shots until early January, but I am glad to know the end is in sight. I will no longer feel like a pin cushion!
was aware I had the seizure problem and prescribed cipro, which I had to call and tell them to send me something different. The one at the pharmacy now is Augmentin. Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me.
Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. I had oral sex again with the asymptomatic guy again on 4/11. I was informed by the guy who developed gonorrhea of all this today, 4/14, and have not had sex with him since before his symptoms began.

s tests and I was diagnosed with syphilis. A private doctor prescribed me augmentin xr 1000 for 14 days. When one month has passed after the treatment I had another tests in other clinic and results for syphilis were negative, however I suffered some sort of urticarias, which I guess were an allergic reaction from the antibiotic and I went to see another dermatologist, who said that I still might have syphilis. I went to her clinic she made tests and confirmed that I still have it.
If you were on penicillin and it did nothing after 48 hours or so, then you should go back to the doctor then. Penicillin has resistance associated to it and they will often use Augmentin if penicillin doesn't work because it has an added agent to it that makes it have much less resistance. I wouldn't wait too weeks and call your doctor when it is 72 hours past when you started the antibiotics. Is it your throat or your skin that is infected?
I'm not buying your story about the er at all! First of all, there is no way that the nurse didn't know what a dry socket is, and two I doubt that they told you that penicillin only comes in an injection! I also don't believe that you are a health care provider, or you would know that amoxicillin is AUGMENTIN, & it has penicillin in it!!!.....
They told me on my chin was a cold sore, but my shaft was nothing, just a random scab (from what I don’t know). They prescribed me augmentin for my throat because I have a history of bacterial larangytis and with antibiotics I’ve had fast recovery.
On the 15th I went back to the ER because my throat was so bad I could swallow and needed fluids for a fever as well as pain relief.
One week to the day before her hives started she had called her Dr. because of sinus issues. Without seeing her he called in augmentin!!! She took it for one week and the hives started!!! The Dr. told her to stop taking it and put her on steroids and zyrtec, and 4 days later a cortisone shot. He also determined it probably was just clear congestion and not an infection!!!
Two weeks ago, Monday the 7th I went to the doctor with a sever sore throat and was giving Augmentin to take for 10 days (twice a day). My throat was really sore, I had a 103 degree fever, and thyroid glands were swollen. Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen didn't do much to relieve the pain. The rapid strep test said I did not have strep throat, but after looking at my throat a few times the doctor believed the test was wrong and gave me Augmentin.
Your doc gave you augmentin because strep B is susceptible to that form of penicillin, but not in the prostate because it doesn't get inside in high enough quantity. But, Penicillin G administered by injection did for me. Prostatitis is curable, but you need a doctor that cares and uses science rather than witchcraft.
But 10-15% are resistant. Augmentin is active against even the resistant strains. Augmentin has not been studied for its effect against pharyngeal gonorrhea, but in the doses used for strep throat and respiratory infections, it probably would cure it.
Asymptomatic urethral gonorrhea is uncommon in men, and testing is reliable. The asymptomatic person can be sure he doesn't have it.
There is no point in you being tested while taking augmentin.
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

I had two risky sexual contacts since the start of October the first was unprotected with an ex on the 11th but was on penicillin due to tonsillitis at the time... I then went on s volunteering trip to Thailand where I felt flu like symptoms 2 days post contact... Slight yeast like symptoms too... Had a chesty cough as well... Continued my trip and on s drunken night out landed up going home with a person I met that night ...
One week to the day before she broke out in hives she was given an antibiotic(augmentin)by her Dr. She had called him on a holiday and described to him that here ears were clogged and she had vertigo. He immediatly suspected sinus infection and called in augmentin. She took it for one week, and on the seventh day of the ten day course is when she broke out in hives!!! She proceeded to tell me that they took 5 days to go away and that some who pop up here and there for a few weeks.

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
concerned that it might be an infection called in a script for me, augmentin and told me to take zyrtec. One week later to the day I broke out in hives all over my body, head to toe, long story short it took cortisone shot, steroids, and zyrtec to clear me up. After 4- 5 days it was MUCH better, but for a few weeks after that I would still ge tthem here and there, nothing major. The Dr. eventually tested me for penicillin allergy through rast testing and it came back negative.
