me OB says anything tylenol based so when i got sick i just went for tylenol cold and flu type meds.
I had sex with a new partner (unprotected), and I had a gamut of flu symptoms follow:
The day after I woke up feeling a little under the weather. I went for a run, and noticed I was wheezing heavily.
2 days later, I woke up with an intense headache. Hours later, my feet became EXTREMELY cold, and the rest of my body was cold as well. I started having aching pains in my legs and feet. A fever came on board that hit around 100.5.
I also got good news that I am to finish my current box of Bicillin (penicillin) shots and then switch to an oral long lasting Augmentin (penicillin). I took Augmentin 875 for a week when I first got sick, not knowing what I had, and I recovered from my severe flu-like symptoms in a couple of days. It worked great. I don't finish my shots until early January, but I am glad to know the end is in sight. I will no longer feel like a pin cushion!
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

Hey ladies I was just wondering if it was common to feel sick like a cold or flu in very very early pregnancy. I am only a few DPO but have had a consistent headache and feel like I may be getting an ear infection on top of just that general sicky feeling. Any one else have similar experiences when they first became pregnant?

Me: 3DPO (or maybe more unsure) 2nd round of clomid 100 mg CD 4-8. Have PCOS.
t yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis. The combination of cefixime and azithromycin would most probably prevent infection but it would not be curative if the infection was established.
It took longer for the clindamycin to work this time, and a new doctor concluded I may have developed some resistance to it after being on it for close to 2 months at that point. I was put on Augmentin, but this did nothing for the infection and only made me swell (hands, abdomen, throat) after a few days. But, when I was restarted on the clindamycin, the clindamycin worked better that time - more quickly - so maybe the Augmentin had been doing some good I don't know.
He explained that it could of been Inflamed bowel disease and that it could of been from the Augmentin. He prescribed me prednisone for a 6 day period. This helped the pain go away and I stopped the Augmentin right away. While all of this is going on, I am still having my initial symptoms that started a month prior.
I started having bad constipation and burning in my urination. Figuring that I may have an infection of some sort, I went to the ER. Nothing again.
Ever since I got the flu last December I never seem to have recovered. For the past 6 months I have had these symptoms:
- Low Grade Fever (up to 37.5 degrees Celsius) with sore throat, minimal coughing that returns Every Month. I've had about six fevers now for the past half year.
- Chronic sore throat.
- Easily sweats: after a nap, a walk, etc.
It seems like my fevers won't go high, nor will it go away.
After about 4 days of this I went to the doc and he thought I had a sinus infection so put me on amoxicillin. That did nothing so put me on Augmentin. By this time I had become very shaky, still had a low grade fever (usually comes on in the afternoon). There were a couple of episodes early on where I was shaking uncontrollably and felt so cold. I took my temperature during one of these episodes and it was very low (97).
I have been experiencing neck pain below my thyroid on the left side for 2 moths, suddenly the sore neck went into one side of my throat and ear Left side. It gets worse after 5-6 pm and I have to take serious pain meds to get it to calm down. I feel like I have the flu or something But I have no fever and no other symptoms. Covid tests all negative. My doctor put my on a huge dose of augmentin and it’s not helping.

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.

Since I started antibiotics(augmentin 1g) on the 13th and finished on the 17th (little over 3 months post exposure) for the flu, should i get re-tested for syphilis(vdrl and tpha). I do not fully understand these two tests.
Will taking antibiotics alter test these results in any way? Since vdrl measures an 'active' infection this can obviously be affected by antibiotics.
What about TPHA?
Although Augmentin kills certain types of bacteria and is used for lower respiratory, ear, urinary and sinus bacterial infections, does not necessarily mean it will get help a sore throat.
To find out what type of bacteria is causing the sore throat and which antibiotic will kill that bacteria is to get a swab taken of your throat to identify the bacteria and then the correct antibiotic will be prescribed.
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
If you have a viral tonsillitis, it will get better on its own in time (about the same time that was quoted for the Augmentin!). But you are also taking Augmentin. So, won't it be tempting to say that the Augmentin is what made you better? We'll never know.
It's not necessarily a bad idea, taking both -- especially if they are truly unsure and they're trying to get you better as fast as possible.
t know if I should be looking for other causes or if this is the most likely cause. Is there something I can do to lower my ESR & CRP levels?
I recently took augmentin for three days, had to discontinue because of allergic reaction ( rash, jitters, fever)
Today I awoke with a stiff neck which progressively became worse as the day went on. Now 12 hours later the pain has spread down my back and to all my joints. Could this bee the Augmentin or something more severe.

I have white/clear mucous and have used augmentin and azithromax one course after another (augmentin first and then azithromax) given by my doctor but the cough is not gone. My chest x ray is normal but the doctor could not do a pft because of my continuous cough at that time. My blood work for pneumonia diabetes and cholesterol are all good. sinus CT scan is normal too. Is this viral is it okay to take several months for cough to go away. I have no wheezing or asthma history.
Hi J..may I ask what they gave you augmentin for ? If it was for the winter upper resporitory crap that was going around then maybe it wasn't strong enough. Augmentin is a pretty broad spectrum anti. Maybe ask for Zpack (zithromycin).
The trouble with antibiotics are doctors over prescribe this crap and becomes ineffective as the bugs become resistant.
1) although not preferred, will the Augmentin regimen clear me of anything?
2) how soon could I be accurately tested for STD's?
