Avatar m tn Welcome to our Forum. I can understand how after being in the strip club you might be concerned that you somehow picked up an STD through contact with a dancer but it is most unlikely. Let me outline some of the reasons that I say this: 1. Chlamydia is simply not effectively transmitted from one person to another on contaminated fingers. If it were we would see genital infections as well as eye infections arising this way and we do not. 2.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a potential high risk exposure about 2 months ago. It was protected sex (condom) a little less than a week later I got conjuctavitis, this sparked some anxiety so I went to the doctor to get it checked out and to have STD screening. At day 16 after exposure I had a NAAT urine test and both chlamydia & gonorrhea came back negative. At week 4 after exposure I got tested for hep b, c and HIV and all came back negative.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working. I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18. Thank you!!
250701 tn?1320974765 My lung Doctor called me in some augmentin because I have been coughing up thick yellow mucus. I just don't know if I can take it on treatment. Does anyone know??
Avatar f tn Typically conjunctivitis does not resolve in 'a few day' you should have gone in to see an ophthalmologist eye MD or optometrist. If you did not then do so. If you did call the office and report this to them.
Avatar m tn The various causes of conjunctivitis are Bacterial, Viral, Allergic conjunctivitis, Noninfectious, nonallergic conjunctivitis and Chlamydial infections. It is important to rule out the cause of the eye condition. Bacterial conjunctivitis will usually have purulent discharge and can be diagnosed by gram staining. As for viral conjunctivitis are concerned, adenovirus is the commonest virus to be involved. A rapid (10 minute) test for adenoviral conjunctivitis is now available.
Avatar n tn t yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis. The combination of cefixime and azithromycin would most probably prevent infection but it would not be curative if the infection was established.
Avatar m tn I should add that I was prescribed Augmentin at the same time post operatively for a knee arthroscope and wondered whether this could interfere with the efficacy of the azithromycin?
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me terramycin ointment (4 times daily) and vigamox drops (3 times daily) to treat conjunctivitis in both eyes. However, when applying terramycin ointment for the first two days, my eyes became more uncomfortable (watery, more discharge) and red. Is this is good sigh for healing? or should I stop usage?
Avatar m tn I would go for a test but they have told me that i have to have symptoms in order to test me for those stds couse there are not blood test for those 2. Do you thnk that i could have cured the symptoms but not the bacteria it self?
Avatar n tn //www.medhelp.org/drugs/Augmentin/show/5288 It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
Avatar n tn I am a contact lens wearer and 2 months ago I was diagnosed with Viral Conjunctivitis. After several visits to my optician who informed me it is still there but getting better, I am now experiencing more problems. My eyes are sore and my glasses feel no where as strong as they did. I have finally been referred to the Opthalmologist and am now awaiting an appointment. My worry is...
Avatar m tn Or could the infection causing conjunctivitis have spread due to not treating it for the first 7 days? Please Reply I am worried as I am always scared to go to a doctor and its the first time I have ever had a red eye or conjunctivitis or something of that sorts. I do have glasses though.
Avatar m tn What type of conjunctivitis can have an extended period without self-resolving? I have read that adenoviral conjunctivitis self resolves within 1-2 weeks and bacterial generally resolves withing 2- 3 weeks. Therefore, I am growing concerned with the "staying power" of this redness. As additonal info, I am also concerned that the redness is related to a sexual exposure I had as the redness began within a few days. So my questions are the following?
740516 tn?1360942486 It is often caused by a viral infection that is contagious, but it is the underlying infection that is contagious, not conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis can also be caused by allergies or dry eye or other tear duct conditions that are not contagious.
Avatar f tn Although Augmentin kills certain types of bacteria and is used for lower respiratory, ear, urinary and sinus bacterial infections, does not necessarily mean it will get help a sore throat. To find out what type of bacteria is causing the sore throat and which antibiotic will kill that bacteria is to get a swab taken of your throat to identify the bacteria and then the correct antibiotic will be prescribed.
Avatar f tn 4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness. Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
Avatar f tn About 2 months ago I got conjunctivitis. It turned into Ketra conjunctivitis, when I saw an eye doctor two weeks a go he said it was 99% cleared but my vision wasn't 100% back to normal. It seems to be coming back again. How long does Ketra or viral conjunctivitis last? Is it normal to recur? Is it something I'll live with forever ? Is it normal to last so long ?
Avatar n tn My boyfriend was prescribed 1 gram of Augmentin twice daily for 3 weeks for acute bacterial prostatitis. He hasn't actually received his urine test results yet though, so not sure what type of bacteria it actually is. Is this an appropriate treatment?
Avatar f tn If you have a viral tonsillitis, it will get better on its own in time (about the same time that was quoted for the Augmentin!). But you are also taking Augmentin. So, won't it be tempting to say that the Augmentin is what made you better? We'll never know. It's not necessarily a bad idea, taking both -- especially if they are truly unsure and they're trying to get you better as fast as possible.
Avatar n tn He does not climax inside here On the morning the husband wake to finds he has conjunctivitis and a read rash in the head of his penis. He visits the Doctor who assure him that it is not a STD. The doctor treats the conjunctivitis and thinks that the rash is an allergy . On the evening of the 23rd wife feel her urine infection has gotten worse and takes another test. Urinary tract infection is still there.
Avatar n tn Steroids have long term complications such as cataracts and glaucoma. Patients who have severe summertime eye 'allergies' but are fine the rest of the year may have vernal conjunctivitis. This is more common in boys and is triggered partly by heat. Vernal conjunctivitis often needs steroids to get it under control but there are other ways to maintain summertime comfort without staying on steroids for 4 months every year.
