Hi, Im 48 and until recently very healthy (professional choreographer). 2 yrs ago got an acute kidney infection ( high fever, blood in pee, the works) which was treated with augmentin. since then, I keep getting less acute infections and they come back every 3 months. Low fever, very tired, abdominal swelling (a lot), back pain, urine strips show white blood cells and protein and occasionally nitrates.
I got a yeast/bacterial infection after 10 days Augmentin (I also have Atrophic Vaginitis) so I went in to get an exam and started discussing my husband having an affair within the last 18 months. He said there was no sexual encounter, however the physician decided to do testing as a baseline. My HSV 1 was 43.10 and my HSV 2 was 1.2. I have never had any female infections or issues (we have been together for 30+ yrs). However, since October of 2015, I have had 2 UTI's and now this infection.
First off I'll start with her history. She was hositalized with pyelonephritis 2-05 in both kidneys, I believe the right was worse as far as CT shown. Then she saw nephorologist a couple of times and had kidney ultrasound because he said it wasn't very common for a 13 yr old to have actual pyelo.
Now she is 16 and for the past few months she has had a kidney\bladder infection of some sort every month. She has complained of back pain almost daily for several years.
Uti's can be dangerous if you don't take the antibiotics given to you. Listen to your doctor.
My 11 year old GSD who was spayed at 10 months has been having constant vaginal bleeding / dripping for almost a month now. Our vet checked a CBC, Chemistry Panel and Urinalysis which showed no anemia, normal platelets, normal renal function and no indication of a urinary tract infection or hematuria. Physical exam is unremarkable except for oozing blood at the vaginal orrifice. We initially tried a course of augmentin suspecting a UTI on the first visit before the urinalysis.
so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. I had oral sex again with the asymptomatic guy again on 4/11. I was informed by the guy who developed gonorrhea of all this today, 4/14, and have not had sex with him since before his symptoms began.
I was wondering if anyone else has taken Augmentin. I was prescribed it for a double ear infection. Originally I was given acetic acid drops but they aren't working.
I plan on calling my OB in the morning to double check. They are pregnancy category B. Although they are thought to be safe not many studies have been done on them. I'm nervous about everything. This is my first pregnancy and I am only 18.

I've always for some reason had UTI's and I don't know why cause I'm 22 and healthy, but for some reason they always come about every now and then. Well, today I was going to the bathroom quite frequently and I barely could urinate. I went again and I was in SO much pain. It felt as if glass or a razor blade was about to come out of me and I had such sharp, burning pain. I've had infections before, but this was the first time it happened to me like this.
It is highly likely that Augmentin in the dose and duration I just recommended would abort incubating gonorrhea -- which almost certainly you didn't catch anyway. You can safely take the drug then continue unprotected sex with your wife.
The problem here isn't just STD; you apparently are reacting emotionally to the sexual event, perhaps conflicted about your own sexual orientation or preferences. But this isn't a counseling service, so that will be all for this thread.
was aware I had the seizure problem and prescribed cipro, which I had to call and tell them to send me something different. The one at the pharmacy now is Augmentin. Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. However, this UTI is hurting so badly!!! If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me.
Augmentin will affect your pill. The other one I do not know about. It probably takes a couple of days for the antiboitics to get out of your system. You might wanna use a second form of protection just in case.
He thought I had a secondary infection in the uterus and gave me Augmentin to take along with the other I am taking. It has been 36 hours and my breast is still really red and sore. I don't know what to do! I am worried that it may lead to sepsis?? Or should I not be worried since I am taking augmentin? It is the weekend, so I can't call my doc again. I haven't had a recurrence of fever or chills. Was the fever just a symtom of Mastitis?

It may be Augmentin or it may be something else. I think you should mention this to your doctor.
About a week ago I had alot of uncomfort and when going to the bathroom, had bright blood and later in the night it turned to dark blood throughout the next day. When cultured I was possitive for E.C. and my RBC and WBC were elevated.My doctor put me on Sulfa. About a year ago I also had very uncomfortable right lower right backsided pain in the approximate area of the kidney and was on vacation.
Has anyone had UTI'S all throughout pregancy? Just finished antibiotics and found our that I still have one when I went to the ER last night! Hope the medicine they give me finally makes it go away.
I am at the front of the line for this one. I was having chronic uti's and eventually I had one that went rogue and ascended into my kidneys, and I landed in the hospital with sepsis. My problems are most probably associated with doing intermittent catherization to keep my bladder empty, that procedure is not sterile and I am constantly introducing new germs..
So about two weeks later it started to hurt when I would use the restroom and so I went back to the doctors and they said it was just a UTI and I'm about half way done with my antibiotics and I still feel weird! Is it possible that I still have gonorrhea? Or could it be something else? And why is it still hurting when I pee?
I keep getting UTI's but i wipe front to back and pee after sex. What may cause me to keep getting them...
4 days on augmentin 825 for a chronic dental infection (now a bone infection), I started having major swelling in my hands. This is new, I've never had swelling like this. Yesterday my one hand looked freakishly red and swollen. It was so swollen, that when I straightened out my hand (which was difficult), everything turned white, inbetween the redness.
Anyway, I tried going off the augmentin (I'm taking it in conjunction with clindamycin), and today I feel much less swollen.
