Avatar n tn There seems to be a connection with Crohn's pain and oral contraceptives, so the same might hold true with estrogen replacement. http://www.crohns.org.uk/Docs/5/The%20oral%20contraceptive%20pill%20and%20Inflammatory%20Bowel%20Disease.
Avatar n tn Because I had been previously diagnosed (and treated with 1000mg Amoxicillin three times daily) with a sinus and left ear infection about a month earlier he suspected that I could possibly have some type of resistant sinusitus and prescribed Augmentin XR (1000 mg) 2 pills twice a day. I had oral sex again with the asymptomatic guy again on 4/11. I was informed by the guy who developed gonorrhea of all this today, 4/14, and have not had sex with him since before his symptoms began.
Avatar m tn so I took my STD test but before I got the result I panicked thinking of gonorrhea or syphilis and took Augmentin for 3 days. Now the tests are all negative but considering the window period for some STD, should I finish taking Augmentin as a precaution to get rid of the possible infection? Thank you.
Avatar m tn The decision about whether to use oral contraceptives is very complicated, and needs to be researched thoroughly and considered in the context of each woman's health history and risk factors for various types of cancer. The research on whether oral contraeptives raise the risk for breast cancer is inconclusive. Older studies, based on the early birth control pills that contained much higher levels of hormones than today's low-dose pills suggested there was an increased risk. esp.
Avatar n tn When a woman is taking oral contraceptives and has to also take antibiotics (such as Cipro) that could decrease the effectiveness of the oral contraceptives, it is recommended that she use a back up method of contraception (i.e. a condom) during the entire time she is on the antibiotics and for 7 days after she stops taking the antibiotics. For more information, you may want to consult with a health care provider or a pharmacist." I would still advise you to check with your doctor.
Avatar m tn When I get in the sauna, a 55-60 years old, healthy looking, white English man started to give me oral sex. I stopped him in 30 seconds and left the sauna. Washed my penis with soap. There is no medical service in school and I am a foreigner and do not know how to see a doctor here since centers are asking for residence paper. I know you are advising people to take test but I really do not have any opportunity ofr testing right now. Thank God, I brought Augmentin 1000 mg bid from my country.
Avatar f tn I think that there are alot of options open to you besides birth contol pills or taking oral meds....like Brooke said almost all pills have such a risk of clots manifesting themselves especially if you have a family history of blood clots the % goes up for incidence. You may want to look at all other options out there for you besides taking "the pill" and i know there are many of them out there.

Avatar f tn Breakthrough bleeding(bleeding while taking the active pills of combined oral contraceptives, or other hormonal contraceptives),spotting and changes in menstrual flow are common side effects after starting the oral contraceptives and they are frequent while taking the triphasic contraceptive(orthotricyclen). Breakthrough bleeding is most common when a woman first begins taking oral contraceptives, or changes from one particular oral contraceptive to another.
Avatar m tn i have an irregular cycle of menstration. i have taken oral contraceptives for the first time last week, 2 days after i had an intercourse using withdrawal method. but it only lasted in only aminute i think then we immidiateley removed it. then i took oral contraceptives 2 days after. 4 pills in the morning and 4 more pils afte 10 hours. i read in some articles that 1 week after taken the oral contracepives, you are going to have a withdrawal bleeding.
Avatar f tn acetaminophen for the pain is OK. hemangiomas are not caused by oral contraceptives nor are cysts. adenomas and FNH lesions in the liver are. If pain is due to the cyst or hemangioma then surgery is sometimes done. You should not have to wait months to see someone. What type of specialist are you to see/ Where do you live?
Avatar m tn I had unprotected oral sex and deep kissing. it has been almost 9 weeks and a few mouth sores appeared in my mouth :(. Although it could be from the augmentin I am taking right now ( it is my 6th day of taking augmentin). I have a bacterial infection in my throat and the doctor prescribed me this. The mouth sores appread 2 to 3 days after I started taking my medication. I read that augmentin does cause mouth sores. It's one of it's may side effects. But I am worried still.
Avatar f tn I am 43 years old, I used oral contraceptives for more than 7 years. Now, I have this yellowish fluid discharges in my left breast nipple for about 4 years now. Does this fluid discharges have something to do with my prolonged used of oral contraceptives? Does this has something to do with "breast cancer"? I am so worried about it, please help me enlightened. What the best thing to do? Thank you and God Bless.
Avatar f tn If you have higher degree of damage, I would recommend avoiding all oral contraceptives. You are correct, they are hard on the liver and sometimes cause liver damage and elevated LFTs even in healthy women. Recommendation not to take them if you have liver disease is a very sensible one. Try other methods of birth control that don't involve hormones. They do work and work well when used correctly. Congratulations on completing your treatment and feeling so well.
Avatar n tn Thank you Vance. One other question. If this was oral gonorrhea, wouldn't this clear up itself and would it spread to genitals and spread to others via normal sex (not oral)? Thank you again.
Avatar f tn m kinda worried cuz I later got to find out that antibiotics affect the rate of effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Though after using the oral contraceptive I haven't used the antibiotic now for bout 24hours. Can I continue with the antibiotics? Would the postinor have worked? I need to be sure of whether I might need to take further actions and what actions please if that's the case.
Avatar f tn However she warned me that continuous use of oral contraceptives without break is not at all safe and she advised me to stop them immediately. She also advised me to go for loop insertion and asked me to visit her again when the period comes. I stopped using Mala-D from the same day. During the intervening period from 1st July '09 to 1st August '09 I did not get periods but observed scanty bleeding at very frequent intervals which stopped within half or 1 day. Finally, since two days i.
Avatar n tn I performed unrptoected oral sex on a female including fingering...and 4 days after the encounter i developed a swollen lymph node in my throat which had pus causing a sore throat. Should i get tested for this? im already on augmentin and amoxicillin when i saw a doctor without doing any tests.
Avatar f tn I was taken off clindamycin mid-treatment (I was feeling dramatically better, but was taken off it before infection was totally gone for blood tests) and am now trying to play catch-up, back on it and augmentin at the same time. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I had protected oral and vaginal sex with 2 escorts. I used a condom from beginning to end. Also I freaked out and got script augmentin 875 that I started taking 3 days after said encounters. These were 2 different encounters. Am I at risk for stds?
525976 tn?1212467993 Oral contraceptives can most definitely cause or exacerbate anxiety. Whether that is what is going on with you...it's hard to tell. Discuss it with your doc...maybe he will decide to try a different BC pill. Have you ever taken any oral contraceptives before? I was going to say...if you had...and they worked for you with little problems....it may not be a bad idea to ask your doc about going back there again. Good luck.
Avatar f tn m wondering if maybe I should try it again in conjunction with the Augmentin, since it may now have a better chance of working since the 2 teeth were pulled and the bone cleaned out. My oral surgeon would like to try me on clindamycin again, but my infectious disease doctor says the Augmentin should be fighting all of the bacteria. But it doesn't feel like it is at all, the infection has been getting worse for the past 3 or 4 days.
Avatar f tn If you have the time I would be grateful if you let me know if you have been on oral contraceptives or Mirena coil, when you first started with them and are you still on them. Being newly diagnosed I am very frustrated with the idea that the disease is so far incurable. Many thanks for all your input.
