Avatar m tn The toxoplasmosis parasite may also trigger the development of schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, Parkinson’s Disease, Tourette’s syndrome and attention deficit disorders." What would I go about doing to possibly see if a link exists between the two? If I were to add a photo, would a professional be able to gaze at it (pun not intended) and give some possible opinions which may help?
Avatar f tn Hello, Your child’s symptoms are suggestive of ADHD(attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). Avatar f tn Hi, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurobehavioral developmental disorder, affecting about 3-5% of the world's population under the age of 19.It typically presents itself during childhood, and is characterized by a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity, as well as forgetfulness, poor impulse control or impulsivity, and distractibility.
Avatar n tn Complications of Tourette's syndrome are usually psychosocial. However, there are cases where some develop conditions such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorders, depression and anxiety disorders. Aside from these, and to the best of my knowledge, no other significant brain damage occurs with this condition. You can consult your neurologist and ask him/her regarding this.

Avatar n tn Do you feel you also have a good ear? Another possibility is that of ADD (Attention deficit disorder). You just can not concentrate on one task for a long time. If you did not have these symptoms earlier, a third possibility that can be considered is that of Depression. There can be a severe loss of cognitive abilities in depression. Where do you think your symptoms fit in?
Avatar f tn [5] [edit] Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder Many children labelled indigo by their parents are diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)[6] and Tober and Carroll's book The Indigo Children linked the concept with diagnosis of ADHD. Their book makes the case that the children are a new stage of evolution rather than children with a medical diagnosis, and that they require special treatment rather than medications.

1059647 tn?1255039454 Then in college I wanted to get accommodations and they said all my testing was too old, so I spent $1000 on ADD and Learning Disorder tests to be told I still got it. But when I was getting the LD testing I was nervous because my parents always downplayed my dyslexia, saying that I was mild at worst. I worried they would tell me I dont have it, and that I was just a slow reader and a moron in math.
Avatar f tn Suri says, "Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurobehavioral developmental disorder affecting about 3-5% of the world's population under the age of 19." At one time, in fact, it was believed that children outgrew ADD or ADHD, and it never appeared in adults. Nobody in the field believes this any more, and in fact Dx of adults who were never Dx as children is not rare.
Avatar m tn The neuropsychiatrist did the standard sort of memory and IQ testing, which showed there was a short term memory deficit present, but general I.Q etc wasn't too bad. The last 2 neurologists I've seen, have both alluded to some sort of pseudo dementia / psychological condition going on, having ruled out all the more obvious things, along with M.S, vCJD, and anything else more organic.
Avatar n tn Please be aware that strattera is very different than adderoil. Strattera can definitely lead to thoughts of suicide.
Avatar f tn QUOTE Several million children are being treated with Ritalin and other stimulants on the grounds that they have attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and suffer from inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity. The stimulants include: Ritalin (methylphenidate), Dexedrine and DextroStat (dextroamphetamine or d-amphetamine), Adderall (d-amphetamine and amphetamine mixture), Desoxyn and Gradumet (methamphetamine), and Cylert (pemoline).
220090 tn?1379170787 Each time I took interferon, it left me with Attention Deficit Disorder that was long lasting. Each treatment seemed to be additive. After my last treatment that ended in 2008, I ended up with full blown ADD that made me impulsive and seriously detracted me to the point that I could not read and process anything that was very detailed. I spent much of my career managing large software projects, so I was very lucky this didn't happen until after I retired.
Avatar f tn I was seeing a neurologist for continued headaches and neck tension/spasms, but around when I returned to work full-time, and to light land-based exercise like elliptical trainer, some symptoms started to return (headache, right-sided weakness, equilibrium problems) and some new ones have cropped up (tinnitus, exteme fatigue and sleeping problems, systematic right-sided neurologic deficit - motor, sensory, reflexes, strength - everything.
Avatar n tn We at first thought it was growing pains since thats what his brother had and it went away then we thought well maybe he just wants attention so his daddy can carry him. We he began to cry about his leg hurting during play time and times where daddy wasn't around to hold him my husband and I thought well maybe it could be serious or there really is something wrong. Took him to the doctor..
Avatar m tn Reality is, you've got to do things for yourself that you feel are best for your own well being. Maybe you don't have a sleep disorder and this is all anxiety. But what if a sleep disorder is causing much of your anxiety? It happens. My personal opinion is that you should tell your doctor you'll take the medicine AFTER he has ruled out ALL other possible causes, including getting a sleep study. Maybe you think the sleep study is bad advice. That's certainly your call.
Avatar n tn The first times I remembering getting it were before Christmas every year ( long story -- I ended up doing all the shopping for family members, because they weren't able to, I had so many obligations) -- that's what helped me to realize that -- for me -- the cause is Anxiety I'm sure certain things like caffeine would make it worse, medication for Attention Deficit... (So, anti-anxiety medication, like Ativan (Lorazapam) would be good to try...

Avatar n tn I too have this problem with the involuntary breath every so often. I chalked it up to anxiety. I have had anxiety disorder for years. I have had this involuntary breath for maybe 5 years I guess. I had my gallbladder removed maybe 20 yrs. ago. I myself did not experience any problem with this involuntary breathing after that surgery. But, 2 yrs. ago, I was diagnosed with moderate stage COPD. I honestly think that is what causes my involuntary breathing.
Avatar f tn I sort of liked Huckabee (although I am a liberal) but these religious zealots, especially those that want creationism taught in schools and those that change their minds as the winds blow will certainly not think that the druggie diseases are worth fighting for. Probably want us to crawl in a hole and die. Who was it that NEVER mentioned HIV back in the 80's during his presidency? I agree with Goof. Nothing will be done. And to be fair remember Hillary's health plan?
Avatar n tn I notice I will get releif when I dont pay attention to it (which is not very often) also I sleep good at night and wonder why is it when I'm sleeping my breathing is good but when i'm awake it feel like i'm smoothering! Because when I'm sleeping I'm not thinking about it. Yet I still feel like this EVERDAY!!! Sometimes I feel like I'm gonna lose it! Hope someone can figure all this out so we can all get relief!! Avatar n tn Do any of you suffer from TMJ temporal mandibular joint disorder? One of the things that is a symptom is chronic blocked ears "TMJ may cause ear pain, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and hearing loss. Sometimes people mistake TMJ pain for an ear problem, such as an ear infection, when the ear is not the problem at all." I am currently having a terrible time with my left ear, and was looking for relief and found this site, hope this helps some of you!
Avatar f tn In looking for whats the cause, I've seen a lot of things, but I don't think I have a sleep disorder, because I sleep great. I've never taken drugs, prescription or non. One message board mentioned that its merely a nutritional deficiency thing, so I'm going to try some multi vitamins. That doesn't seem like it could be it, but i'll try about anything. And if that doesn't work, I'm going to have my head examined.
Avatar n tn drinking caffeine has six times caused sever panic disorder. a disorder that i did not have before caffeine. most likely it built up over the years and now I am having a toxic reaction/allergy to it. Avatar f tn wow.... i just experienced the same thing seconds ago and out of desperete need of an explanation i googled this.. im actually doing my project for school right now that is due tommorow and ive been sitting in front of my computer for several hours of silence. out of no where, my mind kind of wandered and my ears focused on the smallest noises. typing keys are like banging, and the sound coming from my computer booms. everything is magnifyed in perspective, and ringing within my head.
Avatar n tn I just had blood work done by my GYN (no other Dr. suggested it) so it'll be 2 weeks before I know any results from that. I also have panic being like this for so long has caused that to kick in even more and I'm taking more Xanax. I'm thinking something's just weird this year....and whatever it was, I got it! I've heard of a lot of people being like this this year. I don't have a deviated septum and Dr. said I didn't need surgery...but if it would help me I would try it!
Avatar n tn Probably, I have some type of seronegative arthritis such as a.s. I also have an ai blood disorder. I'm glad I'm SVR and I'll do what I need to do to treat these autoimmune issues as well. In my view, the ai problems are still better than the alternative.
