Avatar f tn cuz after we tell him to go to bed, he will continue to play his video games well into the night and we never know, cuz we can't hear it !! lol Other than the RMD, he is a a typical teenage boy, he's loud, mouthy, hates homework, loves video games, loves his cell phone, and just likes to have fun with his friends. I'm sorry this was so long, but this has been a long long journey and it's my journey, his adult journey with RMD has not yet even begun. thank you.
521840 tn?1348844371 A Common Source of Treatable Problems Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder has generally been considered largely a disability of childhood, one that many people expect to leave behind as they grow to adulthood. Avatar n tn My son has attention deficit disorder so due to this, he gets bored very quickly of everything! My son is very active. He is always on the move. It is hard to keep him interested for any length of time. How old is your son? What types of activities do you think that he is interested in? Have you asked him specifically what he is interested in? What is his behavior like? What types of things will he do?

To get a good picture of the whole area, I would suggest buying this book, "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley. You can go through a school for testing or find a child specialist. I would probably go the pediatric psychiatrist route.

The bad thing about it my husband (yes her father) is a police officer and AGAIN nothing works..
Avatar f tn Click on the link - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - at the top of the page and you can get a quick general overview. And if you do go to see a doctor, it certainly wouldn't hurt to run general tests (well, the blood workup will hurt), to rule out other factors. A specialist, like a pediatric psychiatrist, is typically the best way to go. And, yes, all of those things you mentioned are signs of ADHD.
Avatar f tn sailorqun, you have been definitely affected from something so traumatic, the loss of a loved one. Should you want to to talk about it, please consider message me. I might be able to make a small difference in your life, because of what I have been through in my own life and my strong interest and training in Energy Medicine & Therapy. On another note, there's one of the most wonderful doctors I have ever come across in my entire life. He's in BC and his name is Gabor Mate.
Avatar f tn children has ADHD, a sizable increase from a few years earlier that researchers think might be explained by growing awareness and better screening. ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, makes it hard for kids to pay attention and control impulsive behavior. It's often treated with drugs, behavioral therapy, or both. The new study found that about two-thirds of the children who have ADHD are on medication.

Avatar n tn Research also shows that sugar does not cause hyperactivity. Many factors can cause children to have problems paying attention besides an attention deficit disorder. Family problems, stress, discouragement, drugs, physical illness and learning difficulties can all cause problems that look like ADHD, but really aren't. Regardless of the cause, ADHD is thought to be associated with a disturbance in functioning of neurotransmitters in the brain.
Avatar n tn If modern psychology had existed back then, Tom would have probably been deemed a victim of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and proscribed a hefty dose of the "miracle drug" Ritalin. Instead, when his beloved mother - whom he recalled "was the making of me... [because] she was always so true and so sure of me... And always made me feel I had someone to live for and must not disappoint.
551343 tn?1506834118 My lifelong coping mechanisms consisted of physical activities and seeing friends. I can no longer do those. I'm an artist and an avid gamer (video games) and a film/tv fan, but I get weary of doing nothing but gaming, watching tv, and making art. After three years of doing the same things, all day, every day, I'm going crazy, and spiraling deeper into depression.
Avatar n tn using state-of-the-art quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) -- or brain electrical activity mapping (BEAM) demonstrate that both cocaine and alcohol abuse/dependence significantly worsen such pre-existing brain abnormalities as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), major depression, mental distress, anxiety disorder, and paranoid schizophrenia, according to medical research by Eric R. Braverman, M.D.*, and Kenneth Blum, Ph.D.
Avatar f tn I sort of liked Huckabee (although I am a liberal) but these religious zealots, especially those that want creationism taught in schools and those that change their minds as the winds blow will certainly not think that the druggie diseases are worth fighting for. Probably want us to crawl in a hole and die. Who was it that NEVER mentioned HIV back in the 80's during his presidency? I agree with Goof. Nothing will be done. And to be fair remember Hillary's health plan?
Avatar n tn my theory is that sleep deficit haunts us until we finally catch up with all the deficit and until then, you may be prone to excessive dreaming. the best.
Avatar f tn In looking for whats the cause, I've seen a lot of things, but I don't think I have a sleep disorder, because I sleep great. I've never taken drugs, prescription or non. One message board mentioned that its merely a nutritional deficiency thing, so I'm going to try some multi vitamins. That doesn't seem like it could be it, but i'll try about anything. And if that doesn't work, I'm going to have my head examined.
Avatar n tn I just had blood work done by my GYN (no other Dr. suggested it) so it'll be 2 weeks before I know any results from that. I also have panic disorder...so being like this for so long has caused that to kick in even more and I'm taking more Xanax. I'm thinking something's just weird this year....and whatever it was, I got it! I've heard of a lot of people being like this this year. I don't have a deviated septum and Dr. said I didn't need surgery...but if it would help me I would try it!
Avatar f tn wow.... i just experienced the same thing seconds ago and out of desperete need of an explanation i googled this.. im actually doing my project for school right now that is due tommorow and ive been sitting in front of my computer for several hours of silence. out of no where, my mind kind of wandered and my ears focused on the smallest noises. typing keys are like banging, and the sound coming from my computer booms. everything is magnifyed in perspective, and ringing within my head.
Avatar n tn I am a 34 year-old active, white female, average height, very healthy weight. I had an interior carotid dissection over a week ago, they think from a sports trauma (though I didn't do anything where I knowingly hurt myself). Luckily, I have 100% collateral blood flow, no brain damage, no shifting, etc...best possible outcome. Interestingly, in addition, I have tested positive for antiphospholipid antibodies (after testing false-positive for syphilis---common, who knew).
Avatar n tn But then the next day I realized I was competing with xhamster, rawtube, youporn, hardsextube for my husband's attention. I am just one woman. How can I possibly complete with porn stars and freaky amateurs. That got me wondering about all the amateur videos posted on those sites. I wondered if perhaps these women were allowing their sex sessions to be taped in order to keep up with their partners' addition.
Avatar m tn My husband says I pay too much attention to my spot and that if I'd just forget it, it would go away. Do you ever get headaches at night from all the squinting and looking at (searching for) your spots? The whole things makes me so depressed sometimes.
