Avatar m tn As many as 50%–80% of children with Tourette's disorder have some symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder(ADHD), including a short attention span, restlessness, poor concentration, and diminished impulse control. On average, ADHD will manifest two and a half years before the tics appear. A dual diagnosis of ADHD and tic disorder is associated with more severe tics and greater social impairment than for tic disorder by itself.
Avatar m tn During the past two decades, child psychiatry has already provoked three fads- a tripling of Attention Deficit Disorder, a more than twenty-times increase in Autistic Disorder, and a forty-times increase in childhood Bipolar Disorder. The field should have felt chastened by this sorry track record and should engage itself now in the crucial task of educating practitioners and the public about the difficulty of accurately diagnosing children and the risks of over- medicating them.

Avatar m tn Running around with no purpose or direction doesn't hurt a child or anyone else, so that is not a good reason to be medicated, IMO. Being attention deficit at 3 and unable to play with other kids, also is not harming anyone. My son is 11 and can't read and has a hard time with other kids, but we never tried to make him fit in. Just this year, he has chosen to try and fit in. We encourage him to do what he wants to do.

Avatar dr m tn UARS is also associated with depression, anxiety or attention deficit problems. For obvious reasons, sleep deprivation, especially deep sleep deprivation with multiple arousals, can lead to many of these conditions. In addition, if you don’t sleep deeply, it’s been shown that your body produces increased levels of cortisol. And as we all know, cortisol is what makes you gain weight and eat more.

Avatar m tn Long-term use by children raises particular concerns, especially in light of the widely popularized, but unsubstantiated belief, that blue-green algae is useful for attention deficit disorder. Blue-green algae can also contain a different kind of highly toxic substance, called anatoxin. In addition, when spirulina is grown with the use of fermented animal waste fertilizers, contamination with dangerous bacteria could occur.
Avatar n tn What is ADHD or ADD other than people who can't pay attention? What does it take to pay attention? PRACTICING PAYING ATTENTION! Just like any other thing you want to get better at, it takes practice. In this technological age where commercials give stories in 1 minute and everyone's in a hurry to go finish another pointless task, I think we need to take a step back....
Avatar n tn We at first thought it was growing pains since thats what his brother had and it went away then we thought well maybe he just wants attention so his daddy can carry him. We he began to cry about his leg hurting during play time and times where daddy wasn't around to hold him my husband and I thought well maybe it could be serious or there really is something wrong. Took him to the doctor..
Avatar n tn He was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Generalized Anxiety. He is now 8 years old and with every year he has gained confidence, become less anxious, and the tics have now subsided almost completely. We still see a tic here and there (mostly neck jerking or blinking) especially when under stress, but almost never endless bouts every few seconds like when they first presented. And if you wondering yes, screen time was one of his triggers.
Avatar n tn and that can really be a set-up for trouble with high blood sugars or even low ones if you are not paying attention. Someetimes, marijuana can also be mixed with other drugs and that can be really dangerous since you don't know how you will react unitl it's too late. Truthfully, we don't really know much about how marijuana affects your brain, with or without diabetes.
Avatar n tn The last round of antibiotics I had was two months ago and I've yet to notice any improvement in my condition. Very annoying indeed! If anyone finds a magic cure please let the rest of us know about it.
363110 tn?1340924019 (There's no evidence so far, however, that marijuana use during pregnancy causes attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). One study even found that young children whose mothers smoked marijuana during pregnancy had a higher risk of leukemia than those whose mothers did not. What's more, there's no way to know if the pot you're smoking has been laced with other drugs (such as PCP) or contaminated with pesticides, which would put your baby at even higher risk.

Avatar n tn Hi all, I'm a 40 yr old man who always worked out until 6 yrs ago, 2 yrs ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, endo prescribed Synthroid but I'm searching for a natural cure. Avatar n tn Actually, it started working the second I tried it while at my desk at work. Soon, I think this breathing will feel natural. My doctor took chest Xrays, and listened to me breathe when this first started, and never mentioned that I might be breathing WRONG. I suggest everyone try this if you are experiencing these symptoms. I'm sleeping better, and the one thing I was anxious about (my constant deep breathing and yawning) is subsiding.

Avatar n tn He was a little concerned about some of the symptoms I labeled as neurological, and he suggested strongly that a thorough assessment include tests that we hoped would rule out of e assessed for a demylinating disorder (such as multiple sclerosis). When I read AppleJac's comments, I thought for what must be the umpteenth time since becoming part of this forum, "Well, what do you know?" Dropping things a lot has been one of my most common symptoms.
Avatar n tn I would make that same choice today. But I DO want to learn how to cure or handle or counter effect the issues I still have now. None of what anyone here said or anything I said takes away any persons suffering now, from post tx issues. Thats why we/all are here, to listen, learn, support, comfort. YAHHHHHHHHH to all post tx with SVR and feeling great and...... 'we're listening' to any that have post tx issues and need to talk, get advise.
Avatar f tn I have a sit down job at a microscope that I am in a fixed position. Could poor posture be to blame? This is so strange. Sometimes, the area itches and the back of my shoulder blade itches, too. Tingles and twinges once in a while. What should I do?

My BBT is unreliable though since my cat has a serious affection deficit disorder after our 2 week absence and I could not sleep at all. Typically I do not O till cd 13 which is today. Since we were on vacation I did not OPK till cd 11 so not sure when LH surge was first detected. Sorry for being so self-involved... I am so sorry about your nausea! I do hope it goes away soon.
Avatar n tn I too have this problem with the involuntary breath every so often. I chalked it up to anxiety. I have had anxiety disorder for years. I have had this involuntary breath for maybe 5 years I guess. I had my gallbladder removed maybe 20 yrs. ago. I myself did not experience any problem with this involuntary breathing after that surgery. But, 2 yrs. ago, I was diagnosed with moderate stage COPD. I honestly think that is what causes my involuntary breathing.
