Avatar n tn I went to a free clinic that gave me a rapid test that came up negative. I am wondering if four days now of Atripla could cause that to be negative? I am wondering if Atripla after four days will make my DNA PCR test invalid? I am wondering if I can have such bad symptoms without enough antibodies being present to make these other tests positive? I am wondering what else would cause these perfect HIV symptoms? How long in the system does it take Atripla to work and start fighting down the HIV?
Avatar m tn The following morning we went for HIV test, I was Negative but the gal was Positive. I am on Atripla. What are my chances of being infected?? PLease!
Avatar m tn I am not physically restricted - I walk 1 mile or more day and do 10 minutes of other light exercises most days. My BP runs under 120/80 most of the time. I understand carvedilol helps prevent stiffening of the heart muscle and can help restore LV function to some degree. How specially, so it do this? What is the biochemical mechanism?
Avatar m tn Late at night on 6/11, I had brief unprotected insertive vaginal intercourse with a 22 year old CSW (stripper in Vegas) of unknown risk. I've read on this site that very few CSWs in North America are HIV positive, but she was Asian (she said Japanese, but I don't really know) with a pretty thick accent, so I don't know how long she has been in this country. The potential exposure lasted no longer than 30 seconds and there was no ejaculation.
1012649 tn?1256229718 Hi. My doctor recently changed my meds from Atripla to the same combination but in two tablets which is Sustiva and Truvada which has emtricitibine in it too. I checked, and these are the same ingredients in Atripla. He changed it because I had a "blip" in my viral load. Viral load was at one point after taking Atripla "undedectable" for about 10 months, then went up to 45 then 3 months later tp 65.
Avatar m tn so i have stopped trustiva ( atripla ) after 4 ays of consumption ( 4 tablets ) ... have i done right by stopping trustiva ( atripla ) .... Pls give me ur valuable advice and suggestions..
Avatar f tn I started meds fairly soon after. I started Atripla in 2010. It got be undetectable quickly and has kept that way. I never had major bad side effects on it. I did have some crazy dreams and still do. After I was on it for a couple years, things began to slowly deteriorate. I began getting panic attacks, and bouts of tachycardia and palpitations. I had a history of those but it seemed to get worse.
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN TAKING ATRIPLA FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS NOW AND I STILL DON'T HAVE ANY NONE AT ALL SIDE EFFECTS IT IS THE BEST MEDICINE.
Avatar m tn nPEP success rate is 86% apx.
Avatar m tn The mechanism of action of Campral® (acamprosate calcium) Delayed-Release Tablets in maintenance of alcohol abstinence is not completely understood. Originally, several neurotransmitter systems, including GABA, were investigated for a possible role in Campral's mechanism of action. However, recent evidence suggests Campral's main interaction is with the glutamate system. Chronic alcohol exposure is hypothesized to alter the normal balance between neuronal excitation and inhibition.

Avatar m tn Oyakawa I am in my 3rd year of medical school and I was wondering the mechanism of action of steroid injections in the eyelid causing cataracts. It is not an osmotic agent so why does that occur? thanks so much.
Avatar f tn I am reading scary stuff that hiv could be resistant to are drugs. Is it possible that the hiv strain could be resistant to all 3 components of atripla rendering it useless? Two components are the same as truvada.
Avatar n tn I recall one of the moderators/administrators on the POZ forums, which TEAK is apart of, says that the cells underlining of the foreskin (which is hidden when the penis is flaccid) is susceptible to infection. When one is given a blowjob the skin is almost always pulled back, thus exposing this underlying layer.
Avatar n tn My partner was exposed to hiv during anal intercourse and is currently taking my Atripla. I am undetectable. Should we continue the Atripla or should he be on nPEP at all ??
382218 tn?1341181487 Thanks for posting this DV. My favorite part was the mechanism of action for Tecfidera. "Poorly understood...
Avatar m tn Atripla is not a good choice then.
181575 tn?1250198786 Combination treatment is common practice for HIV so they combine multiple drugs into 1 pill. Of course Atripla is NOT an FDA approved therapy for HBV. Sometime in the future when the standard practice is combo treatment for HBV, they will combine entecavir and tenofovir into 1 pill and call it XcalibR 300.
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed in dec after a 5day stay in hospital discharged as neg but tild to call doc in 3days some blood work was not ready. Avatar f tn Plavix has a unique mechanism of action by blocking the amplification of platelet activation by released ADP, and often used with aspirin to prevent the risk of clots for the first year after DES implant. Plavix and aspirin have different mechanism of action to prevent clots. After a year, plavix is usually discontinue as the risk for clots is decreased, and aspirin is continued long term. The risk of a clot is about 3%.
Avatar m tn t even fully write my prescription for Atripla. He only wrote the name of it and how long I should have it for (4 weeks.) I went to 3 pharmacies to have it filled. Had a breakdown at one because I couldn't wait another day. I needed it. Until one of the men working there said "Oh this is a once a day pill anyway. Here" and filled it for me.
Avatar f tn On the 18th the results were in everything came out negative. I finished my last dose of pep on the 11th of May. I tested via oralquik swab on May 14th (6 weeks after exposure) and May 28th (8 weeks after exposure) both were negative. I've called CDC and they advised me that the window period is the same for people who have taken PEP. I have had no fever or rash. 3 days ago i discovered a small (about 4 or 5mm) sore on my upper vagina or vulva. I popped it and now it is raw looking.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum and thanks for your question. Taking Atripla, obviously you have HIV. Can you say more about it (viral load, CD4 count, how long you have had it)? Also give me some more information about your neurosyphilis 2 years ago. Did you have a spinal tap to confirm the diagnosis? How were you treated? What were your initial blood test results (RPR titer in particular) and were follow-up blood tests done to show the treatment was effective?
Avatar m tn Some feedback on the side effects you guys have experienced with both Atripla and the Truvada, Norvir and Rayotaz combo would be much appreciated. One of my fears of this combo is sunken cheeks or the "sick look". Any benefits experienced and or advice would also be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I had unprotected sex last nite with a male. He did not ejaculate inside me, however it was unprotected. Later today I saw in his cabinet the medication atripla which I found out is for the treatment of HIV. I have not been able to discuss my finding with him as of yet, but I'm very very concerned. I went to a late operating clinic that advised me to see a specialist. However, Im curious as to the prophylaxis meds and how they work. Could someone help me on what I should do next?
