atripla

Avatar m tn Atripla is not the first line drug for nPEP and it's not given for a month.
Avatar m tn I started her with a drug called ATRIPLA about 50 hours after exposure. What are her chances of getting infected for HIV and how effective is Atripla in Preventing it?? What is the success rate of ATRIPLA??
1012649 tn?1256229718 Hi. My doctor recently changed my meds from Atripla to the same combination but in two tablets which is Sustiva and Truvada which has emtricitibine in it too. I checked, and these are the same ingredients in Atripla. He changed it because I had a "blip" in my viral load. Viral load was at one point after taking Atripla "undedectable" for about 10 months, then went up to 45 then 3 months later tp 65.
181575 tn?1250198786 Atripla is a drug used to treat HIV. It actually consists of 3 drugs, emtricitabine and tenofovir (which also works against HBV) and efavirenz (doesn't work against HBV). Combination treatment is common practice for HIV so they combine multiple drugs into 1 pill. Of course Atripla is NOT an FDA approved therapy for HBV. Sometime in the future when the standard practice is combo treatment for HBV, they will combine entecavir and tenofovir into 1 pill and call it XcalibR 300.
Avatar f tn This forum is only for HIV prevention, not treatment of known infection. If you have been diagnosed with HIV, stop delaying and just start taking your pills. If you were prescribed Atripla as post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) because you were exposed to HIV, what's stopping you? PEP effectivness declines rapidly with increasing time since exposure. So if you're going to do it, just suck it up and take the first dose.
Avatar m tn Late at night on 6/11, I had brief unprotected insertive vaginal intercourse with a 22 year old CSW (stripper in Vegas) of unknown risk. I've read on this site that very few CSWs in North America are HIV positive, but she was Asian (she said Japanese, but I don't really know) with a pretty thick accent, so I don't know how long she has been in this country. The potential exposure lasted no longer than 30 seconds and there was no ejaculation.
Avatar n tn I am wondering what else would cause these perfect HIV symptoms? How long in the system does it take Atripla to work and start fighting down the HIV? How long before Antibodies are present when you have bad symptoms? I would think you would have to have substantial antibodies to have extreme symptoms? Please anyone help. Thanks!
Avatar m tn so i have stopped trustiva ( atripla ) after 4 ays of consumption ( 4 tablets ) ... have i done right by stopping trustiva ( atripla ) .... Pls give me ur valuable advice and suggestions..
Avatar n tn What would be the danger of stopping taking ATRIPLA after 3 days? Would I be more suseptable to HIV in the future? Would I be resistant to antibiotics or anything else? 3. What irreversible side effects could occur from taking this medication for 30 days? I'm particularly (vainly) worried about the changes in body fat that can happen: "buffalo" back, loss of fat in arms, sunken cheeks. I'm also worried about the changed texture/appearance of the skin that can happen.
Avatar m tn Please explain risk HIV from fingering a lady.
Avatar n tn She gave me an Elisa HIV fulll STD panel Hep ABC, Epstein Barr test and a prescription for Atripla didnt fill til after the test. All tests came up negative, Took Atripla for 5 days and when neg test I stopped. I took a DNA PCR HIV test at time, negative but after 5 days of Atripla. My Epstein Barr was active high so possible. But not new or acute infection. Symptoms now have continued for a month, very severe, very painful. Going to take my 2 month Elisa and DNA test next week 7/17.
Avatar f tn I've had HIV for several years, luckily it was caught early. I started meds fairly soon after. I started Atripla in 2010. It got be undetectable quickly and has kept that way. I never had major bad side effects on it. I did have some crazy dreams and still do. After I was on it for a couple years, things began to slowly deteriorate. I began getting panic attacks, and bouts of tachycardia and palpitations. I had a history of those but it seemed to get worse.
Avatar m tn Rest assured that Reyataz [approved 2003] is known to be a more potent treatment than Atripla - you should have better success. The drug Sustiva [approved 1999] (found in Atripla) - is known to have a low-resistence threshold and only of average potency. Hope I got all the questions this time!
Avatar m tn I had protected anal sex 3 days ago with a guy who claims to be clean. The following day I went to the doctor and told him that the guy gave a blowjob without me having a condom on my penis. I'm so worried about HIV that I asked the doctor for PEP and he gave me Atripla for 30 days. I'm so scared! I keep reading that it's a low risk almost zero to get HIV from getting a blow job. Is this still true?
Avatar m tn Atripla is not a good choice then.
Avatar n tn My partner was exposed to hiv during anal intercourse and is currently taking my Atripla. I am undetectable. Should we continue the Atripla or should he be on nPEP at all ??
Avatar m tn I had neuro syphilis (rash, lost some hearing stage 2 i believe it was) about 2 years ago and went on atripla at that time. There was a few months (from December 2012 until about June 2013) i was off the meds due to my insurance/cost etc. Back in October 2012 i had all my blood was negative for syphilis and all numbers were great.
Avatar f tn He did not ejaculate inside me, however it was unprotected. Later today I saw in his cabinet the medication atripla which I found out is for the treatment of HIV. I have not been able to discuss my finding with him as of yet, but I'm very very concerned. I went to a late operating clinic that advised me to see a specialist. However, Im curious as to the prophylaxis meds and how they work. Could someone help me on what I should do next?
Avatar f tn Good day all. I am taking atripla as pep. I am reading scary stuff that hiv could be resistant to are drugs. Is it possible that the hiv strain could be resistant to all 3 components of atripla rendering it useless? Two components are the same as truvada.
1470597 tn?1286869087 1 is from Abbot(AntiHIV1,0,2+p24-Ag Abbot,4.Generatio) and 1 is from Murex(HIV-p24-Antigen Murex HIV Antigenmab). The first was positive and the second was negative. And though I have spent several days trying to find out more about these tests,I have only found out the Murex test is more sensitive. Is there anyone who can tell me more? Thanks.
Avatar n tn FROM THE HIV EXPERTS HERE AT MEDHELP: "As far as HIV is concerned, there is no known risk of getting HIV from performing oral sex on an infected partner, even if that person's genital secretions get into your eyes or if you swallow" DR HOOK There is no debate (among experts) about the HIV risks associated with oral sex. The risk is so low that almost nobody who cares for HIV infected patients has ever had a patient believed to have been infected that way.
Avatar m tn new TAF formulation produces 5-fold higher concentrations of active tenofovir diphosphate in the cells that harbor HIV, but drug levels in the blood remain much lower compared with TDF. This enables reduced dosing that is expected to have less detrimental effects on the kidneys and bones.
Avatar m tn You also shouldn’t take Truvada with drugs containing lamivudine, an HIV drug marketed under the brand name Epivir. If you’re HIV-negative, you’re most likely not taking these, but you should have the information. And if your partner is positive, no, you can’t trade drugs with each other — different ones are right for different people, and Truvada is the only one to date approved by government regulators for HIV prevention.
Avatar f tn I opened the package to see what it was because he never takes medicine and I thought something was wrong. After some research I found out that Atripla is for treating HIV. He has been taking it for 5 months now (it said the original date on the rx). Needless to say I freaked out and about had a panic attack. I have not asked him about it yet, but I am going to. I want to go get tested ASAP but I cant until Monday morning.
1470597 tn?1286869087 2+p24-Ag Abbott,4.Genaratio(pos. result) and HIV-p24-Antigen Murex HIV Antigenmab(neg. result)?I could only find from my own research that p24Ag is tested in both, that the tests are from 2 diff. companies, that the Murex is more sensitive, and that the Abbott is for 4th generation.
Avatar m tn Been diagnosed 8 years ago with HIV, taking ARVs religiously and now when i went to do my 6 monthly check, the results were negative and the virus undetected. Is it gone or must go test again?
