Avatar n tn Is atorvastatin or pravastatin better at monitoring cholestoral? My doctor prescribed the generic pravastatin as a more afordable alternative to atorvastatin but also doubled the amount I take (from 20 mg of atorvastatin to 40 mg of pravastatin). Should I be concerned about the effectiveness of pravastatin?
Tbd Your doc should order a coronary artery calcium (CAC) test. The results will show whether you have any atherosclerosis (plaques in arteries) and the amount, represented as a score, will provide you and your doc much more info about whether you are a candidate for statin therapy. Regular exercise is an excellent way to help lower cholesterol. But nothing will control your cholesterol (and other dangerous lipids) like statin therapy.
Avatar n tn It is easy to find information regarding drug-drug interactions for omeprazole (Prilosec) and atorvastatin (Lipitor). The omeprazole appears to increase the bioavailability of the statin, increasing the risk of side effects. Does this mean that the interaction is like taking a higher dose of the statin, which would provide benefit for someone like me who only takes a low dose (10mg atorvastatin daily) and has no statin tolerance issues?
Avatar f tn I have been told by my doctors for years that my cholesterol is bad. I was just prescribed 20mg Atorvastatin and took my first dose last night. I got about 5 - 6 hours of sleep which isn't uncommon for me, but this stomach pain as if I'm hungry (which eating doesn't seem to help) is getting annoying. My main concern is though what im going through sounds like what Google said were side effects. Should I talk to my doctor? Considering I've only taken 1 dose.. thank you.
1542723 tn?1294447438 Quite a number of heart medications can cause dry mouth, which in turn can cause gum problems. I had a problem with calcium channel blockers, which is a known rare side effect. If your mouth is dry a lot more often than it used to be, you should drink more fluids and you could try chewing sugar free gum to entice the production of saliva. If your mouth is always dry, you should bring this to the attention of your Doctor also.
Avatar n tn I have used 10mg Atorvastatin for years with no side effects. The doctor is switching me to simvastatin which reacted badly with my liver in the past. Aim is to save money. Is it safe to buy Atorvastatin online ?
Avatar m tn I think that is a one time treatment, with none after that. I did the ip like your mom, I got cisplatin day one ip, taxol day 2, and iv taxol day 8, for 4 rds. not heated. Since she had taxol they may just be doing cisplatin on your mom.
Avatar f tn I am just curious if there is anyone out there doing IP chemo. I am currently doing Topotecan with Cisplatin and they recently added Avastin. The cycle is every 4 weeks and the Topo is delivery over 3 consecutive days which is challenging. My CA125 has responded positively since the cisplatin was added. I was just wondering if anyone is doing IP treatmnets with other combinations.
Avatar n tn What is the statistic probability that Atorvastatin Ca will convert itself into his enantiomer? We believe that this conversion is improbable for 2 reasons First it requires breaking bonds in two different chiral sites in the molecule which will require substantial energy and will not happen spontaneously Second the statistical probability that the reforming of the bond in the enantiomer in this very specific way is close to zero. We would be appreciative to hear your opinion.
Avatar m tn She is not alcoholically person and never drink in her live. She has heart disease and take atorvastatin for 10 years and also donepezil and ladiomil for 4 years. Since her doctor discover problem with GOT and GPT she stopped taking atorvastatin (3mounts before) because they were suspicious that atorvastatin was reason for this problem but again GOP and GPT increase. Next step was cancer marker (CA19-9 = 34.4, AST = 5.47, CEA=3.22) and virus markers (HBsAg Es = 0.13 negative, Anti-HCV = 0.
Avatar f tn I had 6 IV of Taxatere 6 IP of Cisplatin and 3 IP of Taxol for good luck ha ha I am 16 months post chemo but I will tell you the joint and muscle pain is there. I am an active 55 year young just finished the Danskin triatholon yesterday but I wasn't breaking any records. So yes it is harder on you and is not a guarantee. But that is what I needed and I got it.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was diagnosed with STage 3c ovca in August, had optimal debulking and IP port put in. We started chemo in Sept Taxol/carbo and I leaked out the vagina the first chemo. A cuff repair was done and we tried on cycle 2 with another leak. The surgeon did laparacopy and replaced the tube which was sitting on the cuff and put it around the belly button. I was pleased because I had extensive surgery including Sigmoid colon resection and a small piece of small bowel removed.
Avatar m tn If the atorvastatin is keeping your triglycerides down, you will need to continue taking this medication for life, UNLESS, you can get the trigs down thru diet. I assume you tried this before being prescribed the medication. Your trigs are currently 1.48mmol/L which is below the limit required for safety (1.7). You are only taking a very small dosage of Atorvastatin, most people are on 40mg daily.
Avatar f tn It was decided that this was an ideal time to do a Lap procedure at NYU and have an IP port put in. This will be followed by IP topotecan the following week, three days in a row every 3-4 weeks. My doctor feels this will be the most effective way to proceed. Has anyone out there had this procedure and subsequent treatment? I would like to know what I am in store for now!
