ativan and valium

i was on 2 mg of ativan (i know valium isn't quite as strong as ativan, so you have to bear that in mind)....but i was told i definitely needed to taper when i decided that i wanted to go off of it (I was taking it only at night for sleep purposes), and could not just stop cold turkey....i don't know....i know everyone and every BODY is different, but valium is a benzo, and going off a benzo cold turkey CAN be difficult....it can wreak havoc with your CNS....

I also take a Valium at night with my dose of Ativan to help me sleep because I have been having problems staying durig the night. Is it ok to be mixing Ativan with Valium at night? The Valium dosage is 5mg and my mom wants me to take it at night becase she does not want me losing too much sleep. Also, is the Benadryl ok to take in between Ativan doses? I only take 25mg tablets as needed between doses to help keep that edgy feeling down. I am trying my best to leave the Ativan at 1.

Well I was prescribed Ativan and have Valium left over from a previous prescription an am running low on the ativan. Can I just take them together or will it be bad or just not work altogether?? . This is a BAD idea. It's never a good idea to take these kinds of things into your own hands. You need to talk to your doctor. The best thing to do would be to just get a refill of the Ativan, and do not mess with the Valium. It's not as simple as just replacing one for another.

t wanna be on anti-depressants so I went on valium cuz klonopam make me crazy and forgetfull!! Anywho the valium just ant cutting it and I have to take more than necessary to not have a panic attack or feel comfortable.. Most people can sleep on valium but I barely can.. Would ativan be a better choice for me? I want to ask my doctor if I can try ativan but I am afraid cuz I am a chicken **** lol and everytime I talk to him I get super nervous.. Any comments?

I have an old history of alcohol abuse,not a drop for 16 years,but I know the feelings that come with withdrawl and I got èm.Am sorta yo-yoig on ativan,and the valium doesn`t seem to do much for me to relieve the anxiety-tension. Today has been a very bad day...couldn;t get out...used a little more benzo than I have been the past couple of weeks,feeling a tad guilty about that.Could the Zoloft be making the ativan or valium less effectiveÉ.

6 mg of clonazepam is the same strength has 12 mg ATIVAN its twice the strength , he has left you with the grand total of 1and a half mg clonazepam instead of the 6mg you were taking, no wonder your ill. I take 6mg of Ativan a day and that's a lot , your 6mg clonazepam was 12mg ATIVAN the most scripted in ENGLAND is 10 mg or the same has 50mg of Valium .

Is it ok to go from Ativan to Valium ? I take 0.5mg each day and I am feeling inter dose anxiety between doses and I don't want to take more Ativan, can I switch to the Longer Acting Valium and have it work for me ? Been taking this a few years my Doctors says I need to be on a benzo for life but I hope that's not true. Does anyone know why the Thomas Recipe suggest valium and using ativan only if you can't get valium? Is there a big difference between these two? Thanks!!

ban i take 10 kg's of valium and it take over for 2mh's of ativan??? My Doc said yes, but other's said no. I am on ativan 2mg's 3 x a day and he put me on Valium 4x a day.

I was prescribed oxycodone many years (9)for my back and a few years earlier (11)ativan. Now I am not prescribed either and have had access to oxycotin and ativan for years. Problem is I want off both and my being able to get ativan is running out. I went to the local clinic and told them the truth, nothing was said about the opiates and I was giving a few days supply of ativan to get me through the weekend since this clinic visit was on a Friday night. Hi you dont say how long you have been on valium? But yes if your taking it every day and it depends on how much your taking, Your body gets used to the drug just like any other medication, please write some more and people mybe will be able to give you more advice, janis.

Actually the equivalent dose of 5mg valium is 7.5mg tranxene. I was taking between 10-15mg of valium per day so the doc put me on 7.5 tranxene 3 times a day even though last night I took a little less. I wouldn't think there would be any withdrawals but I don't know for sure.

You should go to your dr and ask for a tapering plan, most of them switch you to a long acting benzo like valium and taper off from there.You cannot stop CT. It takes a while and the secret is time, allow yourself the time to get back to normal. Best of luck to you. sophie.

Benzos get such a bad rap. Sure they are addicting and dangerous but they work great for short term relief from serious panic disorder. I'm sick and tired of people giving these drugs such a bad rap. They are bad for people that abuse them and mix them with other drugs or alcohol. Stop trying to scare people away from them. I currently take xanax and it has zero interaction with zoloft 150 mgs I take daily. I take appx .

i had valium which is weaker than ativan and it used 3 pills that week..i had 10 mg valium and cut them into quarters...i did not use them for sleep tho....benzos are not designed for sleep but for anxiety..

so where u on 4mg a day of ativan and now u swtiched to clonazepam? if so i think the taper/addition of klonopin/lclonazepam has to be done miticulously. ask RCA/Ryan about this. he as schedules for things like this and for tapering successfully. i know valium is used alot to get people off of clonazepam along with a taper schedule. i'm pretty sure the klonopin isn't causing the shakiness and sweating. it's either withdrawls from the ativan or your underlying anxiety returning.

My doc is good hes an addiction specialist as well as psych so no prob there , he put me on valium 5mg am, 5mg aftrn, and then 10mgs at night so 20mg total. Ok the problem is i still feel panicky after i take my dose (its like stage fright 24/7) they do help but make me drowsy,fatigued and if i have to take more for an attack im like a veg... I got 2 kids one who is 2 i cant be laying around lethargic all the time.
