1147530 tn?1314821596 please ask your dr about this, I do know when I attended a semiar with Dr Park on sleep apnea they said night and bp and hr's are completely different with night time being lower. My new primary wanted to put me on a BP med to lower mine with a 145/115 but I said no and asked my cardiologist about it and he said - no he wanted my bp a bit higher =) but yours may want to try and control it.
Avatar m tn Yes, it is possible to have sleep apnea and still have vivid dreams. Some people's apnea is worse in different positions such as on their back, so there could be more dreaming when side sleeping, etc. Also, remembering your dreams could be a sign you were awakened during them, which apnea can do as it is often worse during REM. I've read (don't know for fact) that while our dreams seem like long scenes there really just seconds long.
Avatar f tn Yes, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea earlier this year. They were surprised. They said I did not have the "throat" of a sleep apnea person, I'm thin, non-smoker, no drugs, don't snore, don't sleep with my mouth open etc. They thought it was just narcolepsy but did the 2 sleep studies and said sleep apnea in addition. I have no obstructive, no central, no hypopnea's but had quite a bit RERA's (respiratory effected related arousals).
Avatar f tn There may be disagreement but in the absence of sleep apnea, I would focus on the lorazepam for sleep. It is always better to sleep and safer to take a medication to sleep than not sleep. If mainly anxiety, followed by insomnia, then daytime fatigue, inability to concentrate, increased anxiety and stress from a non focused mind, and a broadening gap between your ideal self and where you are, then reevaluate.
Avatar n tn I have asthma and sleep apnea i would like to know if the asthma cause the sleep apnea and how.
Avatar f tn I once heard there may be a link to between sleep apnea and alzheimers. Is there any information supporting this or just a rumor.
Avatar f tn Also take ativan 1mg 3 x daily since brain surgery, and 1-2 at night for help with sleep. Every other sleep aid made morning "miseries"symptoms worse. Tapered Requip withdrawal while adding Sinemet. Right now taking 1/2 afternoon and 1 at night. Previous side effects have abated somewhat. But offers little help with night RLS. NO help with bad waking. Horrible to go back to where I was after those months of peaceful nights and NORMAL waking. Any help welcome.
Avatar f tn t know if removing your thyroid would help sleep apnea, and I doubt any MD would remove your thyroid to cure sleep apnea because there are OTHER conditions that can cause it. Getting my TSH in the normal range definitely helped my case. Do you have thyroid condition?
962206 tn?1257303017 I just finished two and am now on C-pap and sleep like a baby. Not only did I have sleep apnea but restless leg syndrone when I did fall asleep from exhaustion. I read a booklet about insomnia and it said: Never use your bed for anything except sleep LOL-think about that. Make sure your bedroom is pitch dark and find a soothing back ground noise-not music or television.
Avatar f tn t sleep at night till 3 a.m.. We think I have sleep apnea I did have a test to check for it but we do not know the reslults yet. I do wake up in the mornings with blue around my mouth. Does this sound like sleep apnea to you? Do you have any idea of anything I could do to help me sleep at night so I don't have to do deal with the pain when I am supposed to be sleeping?
Avatar f tn Snoring does often accompany sleep apnea, but just because you snore does not mean you have sleep apnea and vice versa. Minor sleep apnea is responsive to self-help remedies such as losing weight, eliminating the use of alcohol, tobacco, and sedatives; sleeping on your side, and regularizing your sleep hours. It would be best to see a sleep specialist for proper management and to ease your worries. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn m not sure about the seeing things, but your heart rate being up could be linked to why you feel scared. And it could possibly be sleep apnea. Waking up frequently may also be a sign of sleep apnea, though one does not have to do this in order to have it. A reason you may be waking up could be because your brain is realizing that you are not getting enough oxygen, and this causes you to wake up. Your heart rate being up could also be due to lack of oxygen.
Avatar f tn Hi Doctor, Thank you for your response. I had my consultation with the sleep apnea specialist and have a sleep study in the next 1 - 2 months. He thinks if I had apnea it is most likely mild and not severe. I don't have the typical sleep apnea characteristics with the exception that my jaw is very retracted and tongue restricted and my throat is very restricted. This he thinks would contribute to some apnea and that the sleep study should be able to determine some answers.
Avatar f tn Thanks for responding. Yes I had sleep study done and I had mild Sleep Apnea. However the machine is not helping me at all.
Avatar m tn I have sleep apnea and was tested at a sleep center. I use a c-pap machine and it controls the apnea. I am still very sleepy during the day and have hyper-somnia (excessive daytime sleepyness) So while the apnea is under control, I still suffer. The sleep center doctors handle all of this for me, not my regular doctor, Do you go to a sleep center? I have Chiari 11mm but the NS never says anthing about the coralation. It sounds like you need a new doctor or a second opinion.
Avatar n tn ) Nothing worked to get me to sleep (Ambien, anti-depress.) so I was given Ativan in the ER and this worked. There was no way I could sleep without taking 1 mg every night to get to sleep for 6 months. After getting some treatment for hormone imbalance as well, I began to wean off of the Ativan slowly.
Avatar m tn I have a question. Craig had a sleep study done and it showed sleep apnea and lack of REM sleep. He has been waking up soaked in sweat for several weeks, and he is always up two or three times each night. Do any of you know if sleep apnea is more common in MS? Do you think it may be related to the muscles in the throat and diaphragm getting weak and losing tone? Or maybe it is a central problem?
529159 tn?1224991026 Hi everyone. Has anyone heard of a connection between having Fibro and sleep apnea? I know we Fibro folks suffer from sleep disturbances but this is the first time I've had a doctor apply the apnea to Fibro. Out of much frustration over my extreme fatigue, my rheumatologist referred me to a pulmonary specialist to do a sleep study. He said something I found interesting and had never heard before.
