I'm having pain in my abdomen and back ,I feel weak and pressure in my rectum.I've had two ct scans with iv contrast within a two week period. Everything looked normal, blood work normal .no temp. I'm really scared.
Has anyone tried Lialda? Does it perform any better than Asacol? How much more is your co-pay for Lialda than Asacol. I want to ask my doc to make a switch.
i was prescribed asacol 2x 400mg, 3 times a day for two weeks. after this time i was also diagnosed with CKD at stage 3a with a GFR of 53 and a creatinine clearance of 87.14ml/min.
i took asacol again for one month at a reduced rate of 1x 400mg, 3 times a day (3-4 tablets recommended for prevention of relapse).
then i stopped taking it for 2 months.
i took asacol again at 1x400mg, 2 times a day for 2 months.

At 1st she would go to bath rm and it was all blood for quite awhile then they did biopies and found crohns.Shes on asscol meds( not sure spelling) and predisone. She been on predisone since July as when she gets off she starts up again.The dr wants her to take med..6MP and she scared and won't do it.She needs to get off predisone and 6mp causes cnacer and lose ur hair her pharmist told her.Shes only taking 10 mg predisone right now trying to get off it.
been quite bad with a few painfull flareups lots of blood etc/ currently on pentasa and steriods at the moment/ started the pentasa last tuesday after a bad flareup/ just wonderd if any one could tell me there experiance on pentasa , and how long they took to work ?
I have noticed that my asacol is not breaking down and is being passed in my stool! Is their a reason for this? What can/should I do?
My GP referred me to a gastroenterologist who found no conclusive causes for my symptoms after checking blood work and a stool culture. I have a NEW G.I. doc who keeps referring me to a colonoscopy and an MRCP before she decides to do anything but I've had a flare-up of UC for a month and need some relief. Today I saw a whole Asacol HD tablet excreted and the G.I.doc said "that's ok--it's still absorbed." Ok--so now I must be reasonable and ask a question as how is it absorbed when NONE OF IT--repeat, NONE OF IT---is degraded at all? This woman doesn't get it. Anyway, what should I do now?
Is there a program where my son can get help with his Rx for asacol? He does not have insurance.
What kind of diet could help to solve this issue! I am taken too many pils for the blod pressure and I cannot take more pils!!!

I have been hospitalized four times in last two years. Finally I met a doctor in UK who prescribed Asacol Foam Enema. I was unable to get into remission for last so many years with all drugs, however, with this foam enema, I got in full remission in just few weeks. I was surprised to find that drug industry that makes Enemas for UC has been dominated by company that makes Rowasa Enema (Israeli Company). I am shocked to find that Rowasa has complete monopoly over this industry.
Had coloscopy in August-showed some mild inflammation in ilieum and rectal area-was put on Asacol. Asacol helped the rectal pain but RLQ pain continued. Went back to ED in Nov for severe RLQ pain. CT and bloodwork normal. I had changed from Asacol to Pentasa the week before and the rectal pain had come back-significant burning pain. Went to another doctor and had more bloodwork-borderline IBD tests. Went off Pentasa for a few days in Dec and had severe RLQ pain and right hand pain.
In May of 08 I got a mild flare up that lasted about a week with diarrhea, and some blood. Then I had some weird incidents where I would break out in a full body hives for about 15-20 mins but never figured out why. Everything got better, but the blood never stopped. I continued to bleed even while taking Asacol. Because my iron and crit was normal no one was concerned. I was what everyone considered a very healthy person, besides rectal bleeding. By mid July I decided to try another GI.

So I've had stomach issues ever since I can remember. Bad cramping, diarrhea..etc. 5 years ago i started to get this discomfort in my upper right abdomen that came and went without any obvious reasoning and was certainly effected by my posture. Oh and i always, since I was 19, had this retrosternal pain that was explained as chondritis. This pain can be manipulted by me and reproduced by pushing or changing position.
Try to stay away from dairy, alcohol, grains (have rice instead). If you can figure out what triggered the flare, that would be helpful so you know to avoid it in the future.
Hey forum peeps. So here's my question to the group. (first a little history)
So I've had stomach issues ever since I can remember. When I was a child I was told I had lactose intolerance. I would have horrible stomach cramping, and i mean horrible, followed by diarrhea. Sometime this would repeat several times throughout a day or two and then go away for a while. I would have an episode of this anywhere from 1 to 5 times a year. As I got older the cramping would get much more severe.
s disease for at least 2-3 years... I am currently taking ASACOL HD 800mg 2 tabs twice a day.. i also have ulcerated colitis... I have ocasional diarrhea nothing to bad. I just had blood work done and everything was nearly perfect except my globulin was 3.7 high... max is 3.5.... liver functions were completely normal?
