Arimidex for cancer

Common Questions and Answers about Arimidex for cancer

arimidex

Avatar n tn I would seem odd to have this type of reaction since you've been on Arimidex for over 2 years but I suppose anything is possible. Since the Oncologist thinks your symptoms may be caused by something other than the drug you might want to ck. with a Neurologist regarding this numbness OR perhaps an Internist, since this may even be a circulatory issue.Sounds like it's going to be a process of elimination in order to find the cause. Regards ....
Avatar f tn I just completed 5 years on arimidex and have been asked to be part of a study and go on it for another 5 years. Has cancer reoccurred in patients while they have been on arimidex, not due to the drug, but due to the cancer. In other words, does taking arimidex prevent cancer from reoccurring while a patient is on it?
Avatar n tn I have only had Arimidex. I only took it for about 2 months during my remission. I didn't really understand that it could have actually prevented my recurrence. It did cause a similiar bone pain to the carbo/taxol I had done. For that reason I quit taking it. There are doctors also using one now called Femara. Maybe one of those would work for you.
Avatar n tn Hello, I read of your concern regarding the prescribing of Arimidex for your mothers metastatic breast cancer. I can tell you that the test results were so good for Arimidex that they stopped the tests early and started prescribing it. I was prescribed it for breast cancer that had spread by following the aorta to my stomache and intestines etc. The important thing is that I survived for over 7 years on Arimidex with very little side effects.
Avatar n tn Also confirm whether clinical tests proved that arimidex really prevent cancer from returning. Recently I had a lumpectomy. The cancer was confined to the lump in my breast and did not spread to the limph nodes. I had a serie of 30 radiation treatments. My bone density is deteriorating, thus I would like to know whether I have to take osteobond 70mg weekly. Will arimidex contribute to loss of bone density? Thank you very much. Susan.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Arimidex for 2 years, and all symptoms increase, including CHF. Are these symptoms Arimedex related?
Avatar n tn I have been on Arimidex for seven months and experienced an increase in libido, I am 72. The Oncologist checked for an increase in testosterone. Result: normal. The Doctor checked with an endocrinologist. The Arimidex is blocking the estrogen production and the body recognizes the testosterone more readily and reacts. Are there other women with this reaction?
Avatar n tn Dear Jim98027: Follow up for breast cancer is based upon the preferences of physicians as well as the specifics of the disease. The ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) guidelines do not recommend regular scanning for “screening” for metastasis. Evidence suggests that scanning does not generally pick up metastatic disease early enough to change the course of treatment. You may benefit from a discussion with your wife's oncologist.
Avatar f tn They say that the bad symptoms will eventually disappear and I sure hope that the belly problem will follow suit .My surgeon is thinking of prescribing Arimidex for an additional 2 years for better protection :( So after a total of seven years on this medicine, I hope that I'll have the strength to even exercise on my treadmill.. LOL... Anyway,I am just thankful that I am cancer free now, hoping that the Arimidex is doing it's job .
503702 tn?1276176714 Just started arimidex for 9 days and had nasuea switch me to Femara. Anyone having good results? Im in recurrence of OVCA after 15thms. did chemo and avastin trial. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I am a stage IV survivor. I was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in my breast in 2006. This time it mastisized to my right femur which was treated with 10 treatments of radiation. The breast was removed. I have been on Arimidex 6 years now. I have gradually gained 40 pounds, continually have hot flashes and night sweats, have joint pain and now starting to retain water/have diarreah.
Avatar f tn Chemo goes through your entire system and kills cells that are currently present and possibly hiding elsewhere (your positive node implies cancer cells have moved outside your breast) and Arimidex simply helps prevent recurrence. Ultimately, the treatment choice is yours. Good luck to you!
1030058 tn?1252253572 I am approaching 5 years clear of Breast cancer. I was diagnosed with Stage 1, Grade 1 ER+ right breast cancer in 2004. No node involvement at all. However it was also Her2neu positive. I had a trt mastectomy w/ 16 lymph nodes excised, all negative. I then had 4 cycles of Adriamycin and Cytoxin.
Avatar f tn I had only one little tumor that was invasive and estrogen receptive and I was reluctant to start Arimidex too... but my surgeon strongly suggested that it was better for me to take it for at least five years.Hoping that you will make the right decision after discussing it with your doctor.Best wishes and take care.
Avatar n tn I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?

1446961 tn?1284577797 my life has been destroyed,I cant even get out of a chair on my own, I was very active before this.all other treatment for my cancer went really well. and my cancer was very small caught very early, very wide margin all clear in operation. but my ocologist didnt say anything about being left as a cripple for the rest of my life by taking his advice to take aridimex love to all xx joie28a god bless.
Avatar f tn I am now on Tamoxifen for 5 years as I was ER and PR positive. Thankfully I was Her2 Negative for no need for Herceptin for 1 year. This is just my course of treatment, everyone's case is different and will be judged on their individual cancer.
Avatar n tn Could it be your tamoxifen causing the joint pain? I took Arimidex for 6 months until joint pain started moving thoughout. Switched to Aromasin and the joint pain stopped. 18 month later now my hips are starting to hurt pretty regularily, will discuss with oncologist next visit. Basically blocking all the Estrogen is not a great thing for the joints.
Avatar f tn Early results from this study indicate that Zometa in combination with endocrine therapy (goserelin plus tamoxifen or goserelin plus arimidex) lowers the 5-year risk for breast cancer recurrence by 36% compared to those women who were being given endocrine therapy alone. Zometa apparently not only prevented bone metastases, but metastases to other body parts as well. It also decreased recurrence risk in the unaffected breast.
