aricept

338416 tn?1420045702 t read deeply enough to understand that it was moderate in a few select areas. Evidently Aricept has not been shown to be effective for mild cognitive impairment, and he told me so, quite angrily. I don't understand his anger. I'm still employed full time, but I'm going to lose my job if I can't concentrate and keep screwing things up. It's either take a drug that helps me think and stay on focus, or go on disability - which is the better patient? Feh.
338416 tn?1420045702 As you know, I've been taking Aricept for my cognitive impairment, and it's been working pretty well. Problem is, it costs $75 a bottle. My Copaxone also costs $50 to $75 a box, depending on whether I buy $150 worth for three months, or $75 for one month. I can't afford both, so I've been buying the Aricept and not buying the Copaxone. Probably not a great idea, but I figure at least I can think, even if I'm acquiring disability from not taking the Copaxone.
Avatar f tn They say now that Aricept binds receptors that would otherwise heal, so it's not good for MS - it's specifically for Alzheimer's. My new neuro was horrified when she learned I had been on it for five months. I don't know anything about that - all I know is that before Aricept, I was in a gray mist, and after five months of Aricept, everything seemed to make more sense.
Avatar f tn My husband has been taking 10mg of Aricept for 2 years now and I have not noticed any significant difference in his memory. Actually, my observation is his memory is becoming worse. I'm struggling with whether I should discontinue the medication since I don't see improvement and because it is quite costly. I also know Aricept is designed to slow down the dementia so if I discontinue it I'm wondering if he will become worse much faster.
Avatar m tn If a person has not been diagnosed with alzheimers but is taking aricept, is it okay? will it hurt to be taking it?
704043 tn?1298056844 just sharing i started it oh three months ago- and it truely helped me- not so much cog-fog- now in fact doc said in asia alot of the kids- i asumed college students- were taking it to help pass test lol a smart pill!1 -ha but it did help me.
Avatar f tn I have been taking aricept for about 9 months. It is hard to tell if there is an improvement. It has been a while since I forgot my way home but I still forget a lot of little stuff. I keep taking it because I am convinced it cant hurt anything and it just might help a little.
Avatar n tn my mum was diagnosed with alzaheimer in October 2008, she was prescriped dogmatile fort 200, aricept, trittico and lustral, I wonder if this combination goes well as she is more depessed since she took the medication.
338416 tn?1420045702 ) I asked him for a prescription for Aricept, and he seemed a little annoyed. He said that there are no real clinical trials to prove the effectiveness of Aricept on mild cognitive impairment, and that it would be a waste of time. I'm not sure he understands the results of the exam. I'm moderately impaired in a few specific areas. Average it out, and I'm in the 'mild' category. But at any rate, I talked him into giving me a month's worth of Aricept.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am not sure but you can discuss this with your PCP. I think he might be having what is called as short term memory loss which is why he keeps forgetting this. I think you should discuss with your PCP regarding a drug called Aricept. This should be started only on prescription of your treating physician. It is used for treatment of Alzheimer’s, but is helpful for short term memory loss. Aricept is a drug of choice to treat Alzheimer's, but its use is not restricted.
Avatar m tn Hi. First off let me say that I have Gastroparesis, which I just found out I had in January. This makes my body take a lot longer to get rid of a drug. Anyway, I took abilify for an acute psychotic episode I had last fall. The doctors kept me on it for four months just as a precaution. Anyways, I tapered off of it under doctors supervision and have been off for almost two months now.
338416 tn?1420045702 I think that's exactly what happened to me - I was in a fog for a long time. I asked for a script for Aricept, got it, and was on that for three months. It felt very much like the Aricept gave my brain enough 'power' to jump over the holes. After a while, it was more like the brain knew how to navigate around the holes.
Avatar m tn rather like when your water pressure in the house is really low, so you have to turn the faucets to full to get any water at all. I think that not all my brain was working properly, but Aricept helped the parts of my brain that did work, to work better. I've never heard of Razadyne, but it sounds like it works the same way Aricept does.
900662 tn?1469390305 After discussion with MS Neuro and my wife , we agreed that I should start Aricept , it is used mostly for Alzheimer, so its off label and he says it has shown great results. I do have a damaged working memory and slower processing speed, cognitive impairment effects every day in some small way. I won't reveal to any other family or friends that I ve stated this med, I just think I would feel self-conscious about people looking for my errors and mistakes.
338416 tn?1420045702 Well, as you all know, I've been taking 5mg of donepezil a day for my cognitive impairment. I'm on #4 today. Interestingly, I feel like I might have had a mini-flare at the beginning of the week (or maybe it was the allergies) - but despite that, my brain feels more 'on.' I'm remembering stuff better, and I'm able to stay on task better. I drove last night, and I felt safer - less distracted, more able to concentrate on driving.
429700 tn?1308007823 I mentioned being TB positive--which he did not comment on. He was in the process of moving me to his office, but a failure in the computer system happened. He was going to go over the MRI with me and discuss the other medicines afterwards. He tried an hour later and it didn't work. Since I have to go back in to see him next week for a steroid shot in the neck, he will go over the MRI then and discuss other medicines with me.
Avatar f tn I am confused as to which is the most important issue and how I approach each. I see a neurologist this week and have been placed on Aricept. Yet still the confusion lingers. Please give me some directive on which is the most imperative issue.
Avatar f tn She has moderate to severe short term memory loss and has been started on Aricept. She has also recently had an MRI of the brain. Could you explain: "moderate diffuse cerebral atrophy and chronic white matter small vessel disease"? Thank you!
Avatar n tn That I would not know. Plz call your dr they can let you know or talk to the pharmacy they can advice you on that.
147426 tn?1317265632 Hah! Like Quix has time to keep up with our lives! I'm sure she has enough to do... Missed this on Monday, cause I was feeling poorly... Monday 9:15 - Went to PCP for shortness of breath, seizures, and to talk about Aricept. She gave me a sample inhaler for the shortness, but it's not helping, and recommended I talk to my neuro about seizures and aricept. Called the neuro office that day, and got in! That never happens. Went to neuro at 4:00.
Avatar n tn my ex hubby is also dx with graves diease, he was only 23 when his thyroid crashed almost died , they gave him iodine and over dosed him and killed his thyroid so now he knows when hes weak and not coordinated his levels are off hes on 100mcg of levethyroxin and cytomel 15 mg check with your ENDO maybe your levels are off he has since graduated to aricept at 34 cause he was having trouble thinking and talking hes also born hearing impaired so we use sign language when hes not making any sen
Avatar m tn There are standard anti-Parkinsonian medications such as Requip, Aricept, Baclophen and Mirapex though I could not tolerate them but they work well for some people. Those are the options I would personally suggest but one thing that's certain is he needs to see a trained movement disorders specialist as I do.
1842804 tn?1319756311 Hi, As a continuation on cognitive problems in MS (my main concerns) I wanted to ask: what meds did you try for that? As it is often connected with fatigue, my neuro gave me provigil (didn't really work for me and gave me awful headaches when weaning off) and ratilin (slightly better but also ends with headache). It seems most of meds I take give me headaches (I also have migraines). Are there any other medications for that?
969466 tn?1247741539 i am just curious. i have had signs of forgetfulness. not just the typical memory loss but at times to me worse. like the other day, i could not remember my own grand daughters name. this was extremely scary to me. there have been other examples of this sort of thing happening to me. i am 47 yr old woman, i do wonder, are there beginning signs of this disease, and if so, if diagnosed early can we do something to help slow it down?
