246236 tn?1275478902 Hi everyone, it's been a LONG time since I've posted anything on the forum, but I have a question and hope to get feedback from anyone who can help. My neurologist wants me to start on Aricept for my cognitive issues. Apparently it just became available in generic about 3 weeks ago, but she gave me a month's sample of the actual Aricept. I'm excited to take it (I'm going to start it tomorrow so I have a few weekend days to know how it affects me), especially if it helps!
Avatar f tn t know anything about that - all I know is that before Aricept, I was in a gray mist, and after five months of Aricept, everything seemed to make more sense. Before Aricept, it was as if I had low water pressure - I just couldn't get enough juice in my brain to put thoughts together. On Aricept, suddenly my brain could make connections. The only trippy thing I noticed was an almost hi-def moire behind my eyeballs when I went to sleep.
Avatar f tn I have been taking aricept for about 9 months. It is hard to tell if there is an improvement. It has been a while since I forgot my way home but I still forget a lot of little stuff. I keep taking it because I am convinced it cant hurt anything and it just might help a little.
Avatar n tn my mum was diagnosed with alzaheimer in October 2008, she was prescriped dogmatile fort 200, aricept, trittico and lustral, I wonder if this combination goes well as she is more depessed since she took the medication.
Avatar f tn My husband has been taking 10mg of Aricept for 2 years now and I have not noticed any significant difference in his memory. Actually, my observation is his memory is becoming worse. I'm struggling with whether I should discontinue the medication since I don't see improvement and because it is quite costly. I also know Aricept is designed to slow down the dementia so if I discontinue it I'm wondering if he will become worse much faster.
Avatar m tn If a person has not been diagnosed with alzheimers but is taking aricept, is it okay? will it hurt to be taking it?
704043 tn?1298056844 Hey, I took Aricept for five months to get over some cog fog. It was amazing, and kinda reassuring. I started with some samples, and noticed a difference immediately - I could follow directions, count change, remember conversations... Every time I ran out, I would wait a day or so and see if I noticed a difference. After five months, I reached a point where I felt normal without the Aricept - yay! I highly recommend it.
211940 tn?1267881266 s one of the reasons why MS patients are so fatigued - the brain is having to work twice as hard to do the same things. So I have to wonder if Aricept helped me rewire my brain. Every month I waited to fill my prescription until I could tell a difference between my brain on Aricept, and my brain without. About five months after taking Aricept, I found that my brain was quicker and more adept. I could participate in conversations and follow topics better.
338416 tn?1420045702 I went to my PCP yesterday morning because my neurologist's office recommended I see her for a possible medication interaction causing my seizures... well, as you can guess, there is no medication interaction. My PCP, who's a nice intelligent grandma-type, thought this was an issue for the neurologist. She also gave me a sample of an inhaler for asthma, although so far it hasn't helped my shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am not sure but you can discuss this with your PCP. I think he might be having what is called as short term memory loss which is why he keeps forgetting this. I think you should discuss with your PCP regarding a drug called Aricept. This should be started only on prescription of your treating physician. It is used for treatment of Alzheimer’s, but is helpful for short term memory loss. Aricept is a drug of choice to treat Alzheimer's, but its use is not restricted.
338416 tn?1420045702 m momentarily off the Aricept, my work performance has declined. Basically it looks like I have to keep taking Aricept in order to do my job. So my question is, do I tell my employer about my cognitive problems? It sounds like I could lose my job, get a poor performance evaluation, all that that implies, because I'm having cognitive difficulties. My immediate supervisor knows about my diagnosis. Will revealing that I'm having cognitive problems be a bad idea?
338416 tn?1420045702 I think that's exactly what happened to me - I was in a fog for a long time. I asked for a script for Aricept, got it, and was on that for three months. It felt very much like the Aricept gave my brain enough 'power' to jump over the holes. After a while, it was more like the brain knew how to navigate around the holes.
649926 tn?1297657780 If anyone has scoop on their experience with Aricept or any other cognition helping drug please take a minute to chime in.
Avatar f tn Hello. It is important for you to decide if the symptoms are due to early onset Alzheimer's disease or the cyst. The symptoms due to the Alzheimer’s disease are more related to cognition, memory, etc. A cyst may produce similar symptoms, but it is usually an acute or sub acute finding. In all probabilities, your cyst is an incidental finding when the MRI was done. Alzheimer's disease is the one you should focus on. Aricept is a good drug.
Avatar m tn rather like when your water pressure in the house is really low, so you have to turn the faucets to full to get any water at all. I think that not all my brain was working properly, but Aricept helped the parts of my brain that did work, to work better. I've never heard of Razadyne, but it sounds like it works the same way Aricept does.
900662 tn?1469390305 Don't know at all, John, but I'd take it if they offered it, just to see if it helped. That is, after I read the fine print; I know nearly nothing about the drug. Had another Neuropsych eval at Cleveland Clinic this week. For all I know, they might ask me to try it. Lost my mom to early-onset Alzheimer's back in '82; Aricept has always been out there on my "gotta look at that someday" list. Best wishes to you, in any case, and have a blessed Christmas.
Avatar f tn My mother (82 yrs) has recenlty been seen by a neurologist. She has moderate to severe short term memory loss and has been started on Aricept. She has also recently had an MRI of the brain. Could you explain: "moderate diffuse cerebral atrophy and chronic white matter small vessel disease"? Thank you!
Avatar f tn I wasn't clear with what I wrote because I was miss dx with Graves. I don't have it so how does that explain the T3 and T4?
1139187 tn?1355706647 Not related to thryoid, but testosterone testing. My labs came back after a week on androgel testosterone total 580 range 250-1100 testosterone free 161 range 35-155 (HIGH) should i be concerned its high?
Avatar f tn Interesting -- just got a call from doc's office -- now doc wants to increase my meds back to .150mg based on my January labs.
338416 tn?1420045702 I suppose I should have said what the letter was for! I took two weeks off from taking Aricept, just to see if I was doing any better, and I had a couple of errors in my work in that time period. I was called in the office and reprimanded. It made me realize that without Aricept, I wasn't going to be able to do my job as well. I have some other symptoms, including fatigue and myoclonus, which I would rather not exhibit at work - so I take sick time.
