aricept

338416 tn?1420045702 At this point the accomodation needed is the ability to pay for the Aricept. Most employers know when a previously effective employee is struggling. In the face of a better explanation there is often an assumption of drug or alcohol abuse. In general, if performance is being affected by a job, I am in favor of telling the employer just to get that off the table. When you tell the boss it is best that you also put it in writing and hand it to him during the meeting.
Avatar f tn thank you for the information. I expect there is nothing we can do for or about the condition as it is age related. Is there anything to watch out for?
246236 tn?1275478902 I'm bumping this...not sure if the lack of answers is because no one else on the forum is on or has been on Aricept, but just in case, I'm bumping it back up to the first page.
704043 tn?1298056844 WOW, I'm glad you guys brought this up. I had no idea that Aricept worked that way. Does it give you a lift too----you know like ritalin?
Avatar f tn I have been taking aricept for about 9 months. It is hard to tell if there is an improvement. It has been a while since I forgot my way home but I still forget a lot of little stuff. I keep taking it because I am convinced it cant hurt anything and it just might help a little.
Avatar n tn s so you might ask about that. And see if the Aricept could be changed under the supervision of the doctor unless there is something else neccessary it is treating as that might potentially be the cause. Zoloft is fairly tolerable overall. Tradazone has the potential to cause my disability and elderly people are particularly at risk for that so if her doctor could change that anti-depressent it might be a good idea unless its specifically helpful where others haven't been.
Avatar f tn No drug can restore an Alzheimer's sufferer. Aricept only slows the progression just as you said in one sentence, however it does not help everyone. Not very reassuring when you are faced with high med costs and have no way to tell if it is really slowing his disease progression or if it would be at the current pace without the med.
Avatar m tn Is the person having memory problems? If not, why are they taking it? There are lots of drugs that have "off label" uses for lots of drugs so perhaps it was prescribed for something else. The doctor can probably let you know what that is and why it's being used. I don't think it will hurt, but there are side effects in every med and it would be a good idea to check drug interactions, etc. Try Drugs.com. If you cannot speak to the patient's doc, can you call your own?
338416 tn?1420045702 So far, so good - no upchucking (fingers crossed) On Friday, we went to the grocery store. We went through the store, and I had better luck finding the stuff I wanted on the shelves. Lots of times my eyes don't process what's in front of me, and it's hard to find a specific item. It was a lot easier this time. Then we got to the cash register, and the cashier didn't give me the correct change.
Avatar n tn In addition to the above post form the MD, you may wish to think about a couple more things. If you are on some medications, review them with your family doctor, some drugs can cause this sort of memory glitch. In addition, even adults who are under stress and don't sleep well will sometimes have a mental shutdown like that, temporary, goes away. So, also review your life situation and sleep habits, see if there's any way to improve things.
338416 tn?1420045702 I went to my PCP yesterday morning because my neurologist's office recommended I see her for a possible medication interaction causing my seizures... well, as you can guess, there is no medication interaction. My PCP, who's a nice intelligent grandma-type, thought this was an issue for the neurologist. She also gave me a sample of an inhaler for asthma, although so far it hasn't helped my shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn Right after he became sober he was very forgetful. 2 years ago he put 1,000 cash in the spare room from his Christmas Fund to pay off the credit card bill when it came along with my Christmas Card ... he can't remember where he put it. We're still searching for it to this day. Any ideas? I'm very worried because in the daughter instances, yeah it could've happened even though she adamantly denied it. But I KNOW I didn't take his money ...
338416 tn?1420045702 here is the midwest we get lots of potholes in the roadways in early spring. If we are driving down the road and see a pothole, we just drive around it. Same with our brain - it learns to drive around the damage area. Giffords recovery is inspiring.
535822 tn?1443976780 The New York Post today has said that there is a push for the 9/11 Trial to go to Govenor's Island , A lower Manhatton Community board called on fed officails yesterday to move the trail of the terrorists to Govenor's Island and passed a resolution demanding the shift, in a hearing with Downtown Residents who loathe the idea of the threats that would ensue and the lockdown it would involve, this makes sense to me , what say you ....
Avatar f tn I have recently been told via MRI that I have Early-Onset Alzheimers and a brain cyst. I am 56. I am told I am in the moderate stage of Alzheimers. I am confused as to which is the most important issue and how I approach each. I see a neurologist this week and have been placed on Aricept. Yet still the confusion lingers. Please give me some directive on which is the most imperative issue.
429700 tn?1308007823 He was in the process of moving me to his office, but a failure in the computer system happened. He was going to go over the MRI with me and discuss the other medicines afterwards. He tried an hour later and it didn't work. Since I have to go back in to see him next week for a steroid shot in the neck, he will go over the MRI then and discuss other medicines with me.
Avatar m tn Every month I would wait to fill out the prescription to make sure I needed it, and when I started noticing the fog creeping back in, I'd get another supply. I guess the best way of describing the effects is... rather like when your water pressure in the house is really low, so you have to turn the faucets to full to get any water at all. I think that not all my brain was working properly, but Aricept helped the parts of my brain that did work, to work better.
Avatar f tn She has moderate to severe short term memory loss and has been started on Aricept. She has also recently had an MRI of the brain. Could you explain: "moderate diffuse cerebral atrophy and chronic white matter small vessel disease"? Thank you!
Avatar f tn txt Check out this link! Every now and then I just google Chiari and see if it is in the news anywhere! Sounds like someone or everyone here should do a bit more research!
Avatar n tn s is marked by a decrease in glucose in the brain (the primary source of food for the brain), Axona acts by providing/metabolizing glucose in the body to act as an alternate source of food for the brain. It is an FDA-regulated therapy and is the only Alzheimer's treatment which can be used in conjunction with a patient's current medication (e.g., Aricept, Namenda, etc.). For more information I'd advise you to visit www.about-axona.com. Hope this information was useful.
147426 tn?1317265632 After I left the exam room, and was checking out, I remembered that I wanted to talk to him about Aricept - I got the attention of one of the nurses, and we went back into the exam room. He looked a little irritated at me! He thought that Aricept would be a bad idea, as it's usually for people with severe impairment - Alzheimers and so forth. There's also those side effects that Heather talked about.
