Common Questions and Answers about Aricept generic approved

aricept

Avatar f tn I have been taking aricept for about 9 months. It is hard to tell if there is an improvement. It has been a while since I forgot my way home but I still forget a lot of little stuff. I keep taking it because I am convinced it cant hurt anything and it just might help a little.
Avatar n tn The Novartis patch, called Exelon, was previously approved for patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s and it remains the only federally approved patch for the disease.
246236 tn?1275478902 My neurologist wants me to start on Aricept for my cognitive issues. Apparently it just became available in generic about 3 weeks ago, but she gave me a month's sample of the actual Aricept. I'm excited to take it (I'm going to start it tomorrow so I have a few weekend days to know how it affects me), especially if it helps! I've looked online and on previous forum posts but didn't find a lot regarding actual experiences from those taking it who have MS.
Avatar f tn so for instance if with your insurance you pay $30 for non-generic drugs on the approved list and $10 for generics on the approved list - you'd be paying $20 less/month for your valtrex. Typically it's 30% reduction in price when it goes generic initially for paying out of pocket. drugstore.com currently offers 30 valtrex tablets for $208.
338416 tn?1420045702 Somebody asked on another thread how the Aricept was working out, so I thought I'd post an update... So far, I haven't seen any of the negative side effects of Aricept. I'm on the 5 mg dose, which is the lowest it gets, and I have really noticed an improvement in my memory and my multi-tasking abilities. I'm able to remember phone numbers, and cook a complicated meal. (Made pork lo mein on Tuesday... yum.) I also seem to be grouchier, and less tolerant than I used to be.
Avatar f tn The Neuro has ordered a Neuro-psych exam and my insurance co. has pre-approved it. I got the letter in the mail showing I am pre-approved and it showed 10 hrs. of neuro-psych testing. What kind of questions are on there? What shall I expect? Is it really 10 hrs? If you've had this done, please let me know what to expect. Thanks!!!
Avatar m tn These are foreign made generic Plavix, not approved for use in the US. You really want to be careful about any drug you buy off these sites. They are often expired or made overseas to lest than acceptable standards. Of all the drugs to tate, I would think Plavix is one I would not go cheap on, too important.
Avatar f tn t know anything about that - all I know is that before Aricept, I was in a gray mist, and after five months of Aricept, everything seemed to make more sense. Before Aricept, it was as if I had low water pressure - I just couldn't get enough juice in my brain to put thoughts together. On Aricept, suddenly my brain could make connections. The only trippy thing I noticed was an almost hi-def moire behind my eyeballs when I went to sleep.
Avatar m tn If a person has not been diagnosed with alzheimers but is taking aricept, is it okay? will it hurt to be taking it?
Avatar n tn my mum was diagnosed with alzaheimer in October 2008, she was prescriped dogmatile fort 200, aricept, trittico and lustral, I wonder if this combination goes well as she is more depessed since she took the medication.
Avatar f tn My husband has been taking 10mg of Aricept for 2 years now and I have not noticed any significant difference in his memory. Actually, my observation is his memory is becoming worse. I'm struggling with whether I should discontinue the medication since I don't see improvement and because it is quite costly. I also know Aricept is designed to slow down the dementia so if I discontinue it I'm wondering if he will become worse much faster.
704043 tn?1298056844 Hey, I took Aricept for five months to get over some cog fog. It was amazing, and kinda reassuring. I started with some samples, and noticed a difference immediately - I could follow directions, count change, remember conversations... Every time I ran out, I would wait a day or so and see if I noticed a difference. After five months, I reached a point where I felt normal without the Aricept - yay! I highly recommend it.
147426 tn?1317265632 LDN - low dose Naltrexone Zoloft, and all the other antidepressants How about the antibiotics for bladder infections (I take one that's just for the badder) Sallyr
1475202 tn?1536270977 The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved escitalopram as the generic version (or equivalent) of Lexapro®.
Avatar m tn When this happens one can try and opt for the Brand still (some feel generics are not as good even though the main ingredient has to be the same in both). Once a generic comes approved most U.S. insurance companies will 'force' an insured to use Generic, unless that person/doctor can prove the Brand medication is needed. Also, as far as Interferon goes in the U.S.
Avatar n tn I think you should discuss with your PCP regarding a drug called Aricept. This should be started only on prescription of your treating physician. It is used for treatment of Alzheimer’s, but is helpful for short term memory loss. Aricept is a drug of choice to treat Alzheimer's, but its use is not restricted. It has been observed that Aricept improves cognition and function, which includes effects on memory and performing everyday tasks, hence it would have been prescribed.

338416 tn?1420045702 ) I asked him for a prescription for Aricept, and he seemed a little annoyed. He said that there are no real clinical trials to prove the effectiveness of Aricept on mild cognitive impairment, and that it would be a waste of time. I'm not sure he understands the results of the exam. I'm moderately impaired in a few specific areas. Average it out, and I'm in the 'mild' category. But at any rate, I talked him into giving me a month's worth of Aricept.
Avatar n tn One difference is that Celexa is available in generic form and Lexapro is not which means theoretically generic Celexa (generic form) should be less costly. Lexapro and Celexa are not interchangeable, and they are not approved for all of the same uses. Both are approved for the treatment of depression. However, only Lexapro is approved to treat anxiety.
Avatar m tn So long story short, my father's job doesn't support our health insurance anymore. I currently have a job at a temp agency and they don't provide health insurance either. My prescription for the newest asthma inhaler from my doctor now costs me $184 for one dose. I've taken Foradil and Advair before and they both work, so I started looking up affordable brands online. A website says that they sell about a year's supply of generic Foradil prescription.

338416 tn?1420045702 m momentarily off the Aricept, my work performance has declined. Basically it looks like I have to keep taking Aricept in order to do my job. So my question is, do I tell my employer about my cognitive problems? It sounds like I could lose my job, get a poor performance evaluation, all that that implies, because I'm having cognitive difficulties. My immediate supervisor knows about my diagnosis. Will revealing that I'm having cognitive problems be a bad idea?

Avatar f tn Other than trials the two new important one approved late last year by the FDA are Sovaldi brand name (Sofosbuvir generic name) and Olysio brand (simeprevir generic) They are not available in the US as a generic. Depending on your genotype, treatment naive or nonresponder from prior tx and your current condition will indicate the most appropriate treatment.
Avatar f tn There seems to be a general consensus that the generic bupropion and the Name Brand Wellbutrin are quite different. Why doesn't everyone that comments on taking on or the other mention if they are taking the generic or name brand? I think if they did we would get a much better idea of the differences.
Avatar f tn What do you take for allergies that you doctor approved ... I have this bad allergies today :( . Im 7 weeks pregnant thanks.
572651 tn?1530999357 I was very surprised and pleased when the new rx arrived in the mail - Provigil has now gone generic, and Modafinil (the generic name) was shipped instead of the name brand. The cost? A total of $20 for a 90 day supply. Maybe now that it is available in generic form all of our insurance companies will be less difficult to work with and get approved. We can only hope........
338416 tn?1420045702 I think that's exactly what happened to me - I was in a fog for a long time. I asked for a script for Aricept, got it, and was on that for three months. It felt very much like the Aricept gave my brain enough 'power' to jump over the holes. After a while, it was more like the brain knew how to navigate around the holes.
