Avatar n tn I'm 44 female. I've had rectal itching on and off X 1 year. Had some hemorrhoids since having children. Had a bout of rectal bleeding with pressure in 2006, had colonoscopy ( 2-2007), negative excpet for mild proctitis. Used Canasa supp, symptoms went away.( endoscopy that year, normal as well) Saw GI 4 months ago, did rectal, felt that itching was hemorroids, continue with Proctosol HC cream which works. Not getting worse, pretty much staying the same, maybe a bit better.

Avatar n tn Although you are quite young to have developed colo-rectal cancer, it is not unheard of in young people, especially those with family history of the disease. Please speak to your doctor about your grandfather and your symptoms and ask for colonoscopy. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed with rectal cancer during colonoscopy then last Thursday he had surgery transanal excision to remove tumor but while in there dr realized it was more invasive than he first thought and only took a second biopsy now he s talking about MRI and chemo and radiation to shrink the 2 cm tumor he said it's either stage 2 or 3 I'm really scared he has bleeding and thinner stools I wonder if dr is being conservative to avoid a colostomy this wait is killing me we are not m
Avatar f tn As you have posted your question on the colon cancer forum, I suppose that you fear that this may be the cause. It is highly unlikely because colon cancer is very rare under the age of ~40. I suggest that you type in rectal bleeding to google and click on to one of the many sites - the Medicinenet site is particularly informative. From the description of your condition it sounds as if the cause might be one of the minor conditions such as anal fissure, haemorrhoids etc etc.
Avatar n tn 15 years ago I was diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer. I underwent surgery for the removal of my rectum and subsequently received both radiation and chemotherapy. I have been cancer free since. In addition to experiencing ED as a consequence of the surgery, I also suffer what I believe to be chronic IBS: multiple BMs, and frequent urges every day to evacuate, gas, bloating, loose stools, and fecal leakage, especially while I'm asleep.
Avatar f tn t know what exact stage of Colorectal cancer she has or if she is dealing with Rectal cancer or Colon cancer or both. I am assuming it is probably localize. If it is indeed localized, she will need surgery and possibly chemo will be ordered; this is regards to Colon cancer. If she is dealing with Rectal cancer, then she will need surgery and possible chemo and radiation. If she is dealing with Colon and Rectal cancer, then she will need all the above.
Avatar f tn Hi There, It is very common for colon cancer to spread to the ovaries. Under the microscope, ovarian cancer has a very different look than rectal cancer. If your sister had one of her ovaries removed and she has a biopsy or removal of her rectal cancer, then these two biopsies can be analyzed and compared. You should ask your sister's doctor about this.
Avatar n tn I was diagonsed with papillary thyroid cancer in Mar 2007 had by surgery on mar 23 and then had radio active treatment in Apr 07. My husband and i trying to have a baby since apr 08 but of no sucess.... my tsh levels from Aug 08 - oct 31 08 was 0.02 and then my endocrinologist lowered my medication to 88mcg (Levoxyl).
Avatar n tn The biopsy was negative for cancer. Yet, off and on I have symptoms of hesitancy and feeling of urine still in the urethra after going to the bathroom. He says its nothing to worry about and doesnt seem concerned. What do you think?
Avatar n tn But, it is possible for the rectal cancer to spread to the female organs. But, usually, you would see more widespread signs of metastasis, rather than just an ovarian cyst if the two were linked. The same virus that is implicated in causing most cervical cancer is also thought to cause most rectal cancer. So, keeping a close eye on the cervix and ovaries is important. You should also continue to get regular pap smears.
Avatar n tn Thank you for the info. The ER doctor mentioned colon cancer not being a worry because the catscan didn't show any masses, however it's still a concern for me. After reading so many posts, I know I'm not alone.
Avatar f tn I have read that the reason some people are diagnosed with colon cancer at not the latest stages but 1 or 2 is because they let the bleeding go for years thinking its hemorroids. Colon cancer is a slow disease, isn't it?
Avatar f tn I've had rectal bleeding for years. I always attributed it to hemorrhoids due to the fact that I have pain and itching quite frequently during and after a hard bowel movement or explosive diarrhea. I was diagnosed with IBS a few years ago. Today I had explosive diarrhea with a fair amount of blood. The doctor did a digital rectal exam and found multiple hemorrhoids.
Avatar f tn I am a 23 year old female who for one I can say I don't eat right to begin with! I eat mainly fast food! But I just recently had a baby n I noticed my symtoms while I was pregnant! I had loose stools with mucous in it and sometimes bright red blood on the stool or mixed in with the mucous. I only had blood a few times and it was so little not really anything alarming. But the dr told me he figures I had hemmroids because I had rectal pain as well.
Avatar f tn I don't think you ought to rely on this. For instance, taking the most pessimistic option, if your rectal bleeding is caused by colon cancer, then obviously you require prompt and specialised medical treatment/surgery. Same story for other serious causes like diverticular bleeding, Chrons etc etc.
Avatar f tn This seems to come for a week and then dissapear for a few weeks then return. if it was cancer would the symtoms stay constant? does it sound like something serious or simple hemmeriods?
Avatar f tn Sometimes when I need to have a BM it comes on suddenly and I will get a crampy feeling just before I use the toilet, which seems to subside after I am done. Now for the last 2 months I am having rectal pressure around ovulation and for the last 3 weeks have generalized lower abdominal cramping. The rectal pressure is gone, but I still have a bloated, gassy feeling and the abdominal cramping. No acute pain when I press on my abdomen.
Avatar m tn Get to a rectal/colon specialist. I am a 3 yr survivor of anal cancer. Lots of growths or whatever can show up in anal area. Probably nothing to fear. But you won't know until a doctor examines you. I suggest a specialist as they have the equipment necessary to do a thorough exam. As well as experience. My cancer was not found by gasto in routine colonoscopy. It was a self referral to surgeon that uncovered the cancer and saved my life.
Avatar n tn and he stated he could see a mass in my anus we did a cat scan and I am scheduled for a barium enema in about 10 days, Could this be colon or rectal cancer

Avatar n tn My sister had rectal bleeding as you describe and it turned out to be rectal cancer. Have you had a colonoscopy to rule this out? I would strongly suggest that if you haven't had one to get one. It could save your life if it happens to be cancer. Good luck!
Avatar n tn It is not a waste of time to go to a GI specialist with such symptoms so they can check you for colon cancer and also for a blockage of your intestines. If caught early, the cure rate for colon cancer is considered quite good, whereas if caught late, the cure rate is quite dismal, humanly speaking. And having nothing but mucus is definitely not a healthy thing. Your bowels need to move. Please don't wait.
