Avatar m tn For a while now, maybe a week and a bit, I have had LRQ pain. It seems to move around, from the appendix area to the groin, and wraps around to the back and kidney area. As well, a mix of constipation and then diahrrea. I'm really quite terrified of it being appendicitis or worse yet, peritonitis. I have seen two health professionals, one at a clinic and the other in the emergency room, both of them saying its nothing, perhaps just a pulled or strained muscle.
Avatar n tn Hello! I have joined this community in the hope that someone can help me! I am a female, 25 years old and I have been suffering from abdominal pain for years. The pain is usually in the right side, mid-way between my bellybutton and my hip. At times the pain is sharp and stabbing and causes me to double over in pain - I would give it a 7 out of 10 for intensity. Other times the pain on my right side is dull and aching, and sometimes this is replaced with a burning sensation.

Avatar f tn Well, the swelling of the abdomen and especially the vomiting is a sure-fire sign your daughter has peritonitis, which can be a complication of appendectomy. In her case, this peritonitis is when an infection from the appendicitis has developed and spread following surgery. At this point, the surgeon MUST IMMEDIATELY drain the infected abdominal fluids, drain the abscess that developed, then disinfect the abdominal cavity, and give antibiotics.
9497408 tn?1404140019 On the surface, your symptoms sound like appendicitis. Your elevated temp, the referred pain, all points to that. Sometimes ultrasounds do not reveal the true issue - they are not detailed enough. Personally, I experienced appendicitis much like you are experiencing. The "twist" was I had a cyst in my intestine as well. It took surgery to locate the problem(s). No test - and I had them all - revealed the truth. Go to the hospital. They are probably thinking you are drug-seeking.
Avatar f tn Dr. Goodman- what would cause peritonitis one week after a complete hysterectomy? I have been diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer.
Avatar m tn I recently had peritonitis and as a result an appendectomy. I have been on Birth Control (ortho tricyclene lo) for 3 years. I did have my period on time the day after my surgery. However the following weekend on my first week of a new pack, i missed 2 pills and had intercourse. However it was not unprotected and there were no close calls. I ended up getting my period again the day i caught up on my pills, and it was slightly heavier than a normal period and lasted 8 days instead of my normal 4.
Avatar m tn I had appendicitis and got peritonitis when I was 21 years old. I'm going to try and spare you all of the details, but I had about numerous surgeries, one of which the doctors nicked my colon. I then received a colostomy bag. Which I had to keep for about 6 months before reversal. It was awful, but at least there was a light at the end of the tunnel. About 6 years ago, I started to notice an extreme amount of gas. This gas is completely abnormal, constantly coming and foul smelling.
Avatar m tn I did some research online and found rebound tenderness may be caused by Peritonitis, abdominal injury, appendicitis, ulcerative colitis, Diverticulitis, etc…But all the test I did before should detect all of the above and some would not last 5 month. So the question is, what can cause an upper left waist rebound tenderness pain that last 5 month…. My GI Dr. did say I have mild IBS. Does IBS cause Rebound Tenderness? Thank you all in advance for any advise you can provide.
951267 tn?1246197239 s uncomfortable to sleep on my stomach, but not unbearable. I do have the appendicitis suspicion, but the pain has not moved at all. It's only the 1/4" circumfrence around my belly button. There is not stuff coming out of my belly button, or anything alarming like that. It's just this pain that has come and hijacked the area around my precious belly button! If anybody has ANY insight to my problem, please holler! Thank you!
Avatar m tn Does it make sense to have classic appendicitis symptoms that go completely away for a few days at a time over a 3 month course? What has prompted my question is that I had two episodes yesterday, one in the morning and a very severe bout in the evening. I keep thinking this will just go away especially when I'm pain free and I forget about it.
Avatar m tn I never took the antibiotics. The next day the local GP said no appendicitis. After 15 days still the symptoms continued occasionally and a went to a Gastroenterologist who advised to take Taxim-O an antibiotic. I took it for 5 days. I took an ultrasound of the abdomen and the doctor said no appendicitis. But I pestered him with questions about my symptoms. He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness.
Avatar f tn I have all if the appendicitis symptoms ( bloating, diarrhea, constipation, severe abdominal pain followed by vomiting) but aren't these all pregnancy things to? I'm 41/2 weeks.
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Yes, of course abdominal pain is possible for a 14 year old. Usually the appendix is located on the right side, while the sigmoid colon is located on the left, but this arrangement is not absolutely true. Another possibility might be your left ovary. Maybe you have not started your periods yet, and this is simple cramping of an impending period. Abdominal pain is often very difficult to diagnose, but must not be ignored because some problems can move very fast to a life-threatening problem.
Avatar m tn So sorry your sister is going through this. From Johns Hopkins Medicine: "Appendicitis occurs when the interior of the appendix becomes filled with something that causes it to swell, such as mucus, bacteria, foreign body, stool, or parasites. The appendix then becomes irritated and inflamed. Rupture (or perforation) occurs as holes develop in the walls of the appendix, allowing stool, mucus, and other substances to leak through and get inside the abdomen.
Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...
Avatar f tn I am mystified by the diagnosis because, although I am not a doctor, the classic symptoms of bowel perforation are peritonitis which is normally easily diagnosed by severe abdominal pain/high temperature etc etc. - and which should allow medical intervention even of the final outcome is fatal.
Avatar n tn He had a hernia repair a month ago, started developing ascites, then developed peritonitis, sodium levels dropped to 19, went back up to 24, then back down to 20 and this is even while he is on a med called samsca which helps keep sodium levels up. The kidney dr states his kidneys are fine, but they are trying to keep his liver from destroying his kidneys. They think he is in a stage 3, but no liver biopsy has been done to confirm that.
