Avatar f tn So to begin, when I was 20 years old I started having RLQ pain for about two months before going to the hospital to get evaluated. At first they thought it was appendicitis. CT came back and advised appendix could not be seen very well due to inflammation. So I stay at the hospital for the next 5 days on iv antibiotics to lower inflammation. They release me and schedule another CT in 2 months. Gastroenterologist takes my case and we do a colonoscopy. Which leads to a diagnosis of crohns .
Avatar m tn Does it make sense to have classic appendicitis symptoms that go completely away for a few days at a time over a 3 month course? What has prompted my question is that I had two episodes yesterday, one in the morning and a very severe bout in the evening. I keep thinking this will just go away especially when I'm pain free and I forget about it.
Avatar m tn I never took the antibiotics. The next day the local GP said no appendicitis. After 15 days still the symptoms continued occasionally and a went to a Gastroenterologist who advised to take Taxim-O an antibiotic. I took it for 5 days. I took an ultrasound of the abdomen and the doctor said no appendicitis. But I pestered him with questions about my symptoms. He then took a screening CT in the lab and gave the report as Chronic appendicitis with 7mm thickness.

If someone could suggest what he might really have I would appreciate it. Here are the symptoms... mucus and bloody stool, no cramping, no diahrea, no fever, no weightloss, high stress. He sometimes over eats but generally eats a healthy diet consisting of fiber cereal, milk, cheese, chicken, vegies, and carbs. He does excerice but not as much as he use to.

Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and have been told I never had Fibromyalgia - that in order to be diagnosed officially and correctly that it has to be proven that the patient reacts badly to 8 lbs of pressure at the pressure points. I was poked. With a finger. Not a tool that reads pressure. When this doc that says I don't have fibro showed me on the machine what 8 lbs of pressure felt like, I couldn't believe it. It didn't hurt until 25 lbs. Now...

Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...

Avatar n tn Recently Aspergers was mentioned to me, A close family relative said that my son shows the same symptoms that her friends son has. I did some more research and found that add, adhd, aspergers ocd and some others are very similar and are hard to determine which is the correct diagnoses. My biggest problem is that some require medicines that can be very detrimental to the body. I have already had to switch my sons medication 3 times and up the dosage several more.
459981 tn?1212193981 I have recently fired my psychiatrist because he would not listen to me and insisted that I keep raising my doseage even though it was bringing about the WORST symptoms, and now my family practitioner said she thinks I am not bipolar and need to get back to a regular ssri medication so we are trying to decide which one to use. I tried Zoloft and had a terrible experience with it but have also used Paxil CR in the past and had great results.
Avatar f tn of short term memory loss and other symptoms. After having cardiac symptoms and being taken to the ER, I finally was cared for by an excellent cardiologist who listened. My TSH was <0.1, T3 & T4 normal range. I have had recent episodes of tachycardia and chest pain which was ruled out as anxiety by my doctor. I feel validated now...but have to admit I am angry. This discussion is related to LOW TSH LEVELS.
1509528 tn?1289999991 Austin does display some of the symptoms of Bipolar disorder such as the angry outbursts. But, and I specifically told the doctor, he doesn't have any depression. There aren't many time when my son is sad. He's usually pretty content. And, he doesn't have any sleep issues. His sleep schedule is the same every night without waking up during the night. His hyperactivity has always been the same since birth. Yes, there are times when he is hyper and talks incessantly.
Avatar m tn There is no test to prove chronic appendicitis. Some of the symptoms are lower right quadrant pain, sometimes it's sharp, sometimes it dull, bloating mucus in stool, pain with or after intercourse, trapped gas or stool in the appendix area will double you over. WBC's will be somewhere from 9-11, not high enough to indicate an acute form of appendicitis but a chronic form of it.
Avatar m tn Some are difficult because they are diagnosed by symptoms without any diagnostic tests being ale to definitely determine the existence of a particular disease. Medicine isn't a field with a lot of knowledge. It is a field with a lot of information and a lot of study being done but the human body is very hard to understand at this point in our history. We spend a lot more time and money throughout history building weapons than we do figuring out health.
Avatar n tn Actually, for a job in security and jobs with the government they will check your history and that includes medical information and give you a psychiatric evaluation for specific levels of clearance. They want to do the best they can to ensure a stable, secure person is in certain positions, so I can understand your concern. So, I agree you first need to get a second opinion. Being diagnosed off of a single statement seems a little off to me.

Avatar f tn I've had an appendectomy 8 months ago, but simptoms came back a month ago: pain in the right of my belly, which migrated in the LRQ after about 2 weeks, bloating, pain in the right side during bowel movements, right leg gets a little numb sometimes. Did a CT scan 1 month ago, it revealed an ovarian cyst of 3.5 cm on my right and a 5 cm one on my left. The pain on my right is persistent and the symptoms are really bad for such a small cyst.
Avatar m tn I went to get blood work done because my cousin which is a Doctor wanted to rule out an appendicitis. The WBC count came back at 10.1 where the normal range for that laboratory I believe was from 5 to 10. My cousin said that is not significant enough to point towards appendicitis. My lymphocte percentage was low at 20.3 percent, and my mean platelet volume was also low 6.8. What really has me concerned though is that my blood sed rate came back at 32mm/h which is high.
Avatar n tn Hello! I have joined this community in the hope that someone can help me! I am a female, 25 years old and I have been suffering from abdominal pain for years. The pain is usually in the right side, mid-way between my bellybutton and my hip. At times the pain is sharp and stabbing and causes me to double over in pain - I would give it a 7 out of 10 for intensity. Other times the pain on my right side is dull and aching, and sometimes this is replaced with a burning sensation.
