Common Questions and Answers about Appendicitis or gallbladder

appendicitis

Avatar n tn I suggest that you go quickly to your Emergency/accident department and ask them either to rule out appendicitis - or else confirm it and carry out the necessary operation.
Avatar f tn According to WebMD diagnosing appendicitis can be tricky: "Symptoms of appendicitis are frequently vague or extremely similar to other ailments, including gallbladder problems, bladder or urinary tract infection, Crohn's disease, gastritis, intestinal infection, and ovary problems. The following tests are usually used to make the diagnosis.
Avatar m tn s either your colon on the right side of your abdomen or your gallbladder. One or the other could be having spasms causing the pain you're having. One way to figure out if this is the case is to try a prescription anti-spasmodic medication. If the anti-spasmodic medication reduces the pain, then the pain is related to your IBS, whether it's the colon on the right side or the gallbladder having the spasms. Both are part of the digestive system.
Avatar m tn It could be many thing as sever as your appendix or gallbladder or as minor as gas. The description you gave was vague and short. If there was more info I'm sure someone could pin point the problem but as SassyLassie said it's hard to diagnose you with out you standing right in front of us and without any blood work or other tests being done. Hope it's just gas, hope for the best but expect the worst.
1661545 tn?1302685376 Agreed with foreverpoppy....she needs to go to the ER. They can figure out for the most part if it is, in fact, appendicitis while pregnant, but I'm sure you know that surgery is the only surefire way to guarantee that's what it is...however, they can rule out things like gallbladder or kidney problems. With all of the complications she has, you don't want to wait.
1800585 tn?1315853521 Did the pain and vomiting begin the same time your cold started or which started first? Any diarrhea or loose stools? Have you found anything that makes the pain better or worse (positioning, empty vs full stomach, etc.)? Start with your regular doctor, however, you may need to see a gastroenterologist - for which you may or may not require a referral from your regular doctor - depending on the gastro doc and your insurance. How long ago was your Csection and gallbladder surgeries?
Avatar f tn I weight about 175 and have had a c-section and gallbladder surgery. I have also had tonsils and adenoids out along with sinus surgery. I have a history of GERD as well. I am concerned about something that has happened twice. It began on thanksgiving of 2019. I began feeling very bloated and about 3 am I woke up with a sharp pain in my side and I was vomiting. I then began to notice my upper, middle abdomen was very distended and hard as a rock. It almost looked like a half of a ball.
Avatar m tn If she gets a high fever, looses appetite, and/or starts vomiting everything you should take her to the hospital as those could be signs of an infection or even appendicitis.
Avatar n tn Being careful about what you eat after gallbladder surgery is a wise thing. You gallbladder is gone, so digesting fatty foods and some other things, is going to be tough and could make you sick. Check you diet and make sure it's conducive to not having a gallbladder, Good luck!
Avatar m tn Lower right abdominal pain along with a tight, bloated abdomen is a symptom of appendicitis. Please go see your doctor as soon as possible!
Avatar n tn I was hospitalized on Friday night with sever pain to my right side the doctors have stated its either the start of appendicitis or a torn ligament. Awaiting test results. I'm on complete bed rest until I get the results if it is appendicitis what will they do and is there any chance it could hurt my baby. Also got the results of my last blood test which indicated my liver function was down.
Avatar n tn It could be early appendicitis or your gallbladder. If the colonoscopy is normal it probably is not colitis or diverticulitis. I suggest you make an appt with your doctor ASAP.
Avatar f tn Finally, I decided to go to the hospital after having really bad pains, glad I did I had a stone STUCK in my gallbladder had to have emergency surgery.
554409 tn?1218403468 My appendix showed up normal on my two CT scans, but when I had my consultation with the surgeon, he did mention it could be acute appendicitis. I was under the impression that appendicitis can't last for 8 months though. The surgeon mentioned that he would take a look at my appendix when they take out my gall bladder, on Thursday, so I guess I will get a definite answer then. Thank you for the input.
Avatar n tn Thursday, August 14 I was in so much pain that I broke down and went to the ER. The ER Dr. immediately thought gallbladder or appendicitis. Blood work showed a slightly raised white blood cell count. Ultrasound and xrays for gallbladder came back negative. CT gave me the answer that I was looking for....appendicitis. A few hours later and I was out of surgery. As far as the central stomach pains, I was told by the ER Dr. that appendicitis often causes central upper abdominal pain......
Avatar m tn If you had an appendicitis, you would have had an operation. The "severity" of an appendicitis doesn't change whether or not you would operate. What the results of your first CT scan probably mean, is that you had this incidental finding, and you never had any problem with your appendix in the first place. Anyways, that is in the past. However, antiobiotics kill off the good bacteria in your gut which can cause problems, which is why I recommend a probiotic.
Avatar f tn pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), kidney stones, an ovarian cyst or an ectopic pregnancy. Biliary colic or gallstones. Cholecystitis or inflammation of the gallbladder. Duodenal ulcers As you can see it’s important to know what’s really causing the pain and that’s what the scans will help determine for the physician.
Avatar m tn Does this sound like an organ problem, gallbladder, apendix, liver, or more likely sore from maybe the altercation and a punch to the right side?
Avatar n tn I am in my 19th week and got diagnosed with appendicitis 2 days ago. Did some labs and the results show I have inflammation going on. Am scheduled for an appendectomy and was told not to worry because precautions would be taken not hurt the baby. I was also informed that they would do some procedure to calm the baby down the night before the surgery. I am yet to know what kind of procedure it is they are talking about. My og/gyn is working with the surgeon on my case.
Avatar f tn Call your doctor or go to the hospital. Could be possible miscarriage or appendicitis or a gallbladder attack or something. No matter what it is, you need medical help!
Avatar f tn Appendicitis comes to mind. Does your child have the pain in the belly button or to the lower right abdmonial area? This sounds like it to me. Of course it could be something else I'll look further. But, this is my first thought. I had my appendix out when I was 10 years old. I had vomiting for a month, abdominal pain (not necessarily in the right abdomin), fever, don't remember diarrhea but you can, white count was up. Symptoms went away after the operation.
Avatar n tn She may have appendicitis or have trouble with her gallbladder. I thought I had a stomach virus and had very bad cramps along with vomiting for a couple of days and went into the emergency room and found out that I was having a gallbladder attack. I spent a week in the hospital and had my gallbladder removed. Please urge her to seek medical attention.
Avatar f tn I would strongly recommend seeing a physician rather than wasting time in an internet forum. One possibility would be your gallbladder but appendicitis would also be likely. A three day delay in seeking medical attention would usually result in perforation.
Avatar n tn I have recently been experiencing right side pain and mentioned it to my GP. He sent me for a CT which confirmed mild appendicitis. Don't have typical appendicitis symptoms other than pain and some nausea. My doc says to get it taken out. I went for a consult with a general surgeon and he said he isn't 100% that's my appendix since I don't have all the acute symptoms. He said there is no such thing as chronic appendicitis and my doc says "oh yes there is". UGH...
