appendicitis

Avatar f tn She had thyroid cancer and got operated and as she told me after her follow up check ups every reports came back good for her. So my question is does thyroid spreads? I am freaked out as someone told me thyroid cancer spreads and to stay away from this person please reply.
Avatar n tn I have gained a significant amount of weight over the last few years after having surgery for a ruptured appendix. Prior to the appendicitis, i had lost 85 pounds and maintained the weight loss. Could the low cortisol and high thyroglobulin AB be related to the weight gain? The dr. is retesting the cortisol for a morning reading. Thank you.
1305767 tn?1361192676 I have had several patients with localized colitis (crohns disease, ulcerative colitis); chronic appendicitis, right sided diverticulitis, and even cancers (lymphoma and colon cancer--but usually over the age of 40) with similar symptoms. If you are worried, I recommend requesting a consultation with a gastroenterologist who will give you a second opinion and if concerned order the appropriate tests (CT scan and or colonoscopy).
Avatar n tn My sons girlfriend has been admitted to hospital in the early hours of this morning with abdominal pains and sickness, They are testing for both appendicitis and ovarian cysts She is only 18 and I thought it was over 40 that cysts occured. I am looking to reassure a very frightened girl.
Avatar n tn There was a local surgeon that apparently only removed part of the appendix in three patients in a month. They all returned with recurrent appendicitis and he was run out of town.
Avatar f tn The evaluation of patients with a chief complaint of abdominal pain requires obtaining a thorough history, a careful examination, and appropriate tests or imaging studies. Years of training and many more of experience add to the efficiency and accuracy of the diagnostic process. The fact that the spectrum of disease ranges from simple nuisance to eminently lethal adds to the importance of an experienced diagnostician.
552053 tn?1273331741 My ex husband had the same thing that would come and go for a couple of years and then it became a constant pain that started to intensify. He finally gave up and went to the ER and was diagnosed with appendicitis - his appendix actually ended up bursting as they were removing it. Before that happened, I had no idea you could have what is considered "chronic" appendicitis, but his doctors said yes, it's actually more common than you would think.
Avatar f tn Shortly before my 30th birthday I was in the ER with what I thought was appendicitis. They did a CT scan and much to my embarrassment I was just really constipated. Can you imagine how embarrassed I was? The doctor did mention I had a few complex cysts on my ovary. I thought maybe thats why I felt so terrible. After the news we had the cysts removed. I was hopeful that this was going to give me my energy back. No go.
Avatar m tn Is there any way I have chronic appendicitis that is coming and going? The pain is usually in the area of the appendix. Also as a side note, I had right side testicular pain that started up around the same time the abdominal pain started years back. Not sure if this is related as the pains seem to happen usually at different intervals.
Avatar f tn Personally, as a thyroid ca patient and all I've read I strongly disagree with her premise unless there's reasons she's not stating of some kind ??????? 1cm is not small and as I understand as a patient (not a dr.) is that they aimfor total supression at 0.1 as listed above for something this size!!!!!!!! Mine were tiny .... <6.0mm ea. and fully encapsulated with no lymph node involvement and I was at 0.
3997096 tn?1349317861 However, after treatment ends, the majority of the patients will revert to a normally functioning thyroid. If thyroid problems persist, they can be treated with medications. Most people on treatment do not develop thyroid problems. The other thing is that Hepatitis C itself is linked to thyroid problems. So the Hepatitis C itself can potentially cause thyroid problems. The Lymphoma has been linked to Hepatitis C itself (not the treatment).
Avatar f tn Cole and colleagues evaluated free thyroxine index and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels in 65 patients with bipolar depression. A longer time to remission was significantly associated with both lower values of free thyroxine index and higher values of TSH. Patients with free thyroxine index values greater than the median and TSH values below the median had better outcomes.
Avatar f tn Exactly 4 weeks later I developed appendicitis and had it removed via laparoscopic surgery, the surgeon said it was "messy in there". I have had no other symptoms suggestive of HIV. My concern is the appendicitis was due to lymphoid hyperplasia (swollen lymph tissue) caused from a viral infection (HIV) given it occurred so soon after exposure. It seems a bit out there to consider them related however I do see it as a possibility, but was unable to find any studies to confirm.
Avatar f tn After taking thyroid meds, TSH is almost useless to monitor thyroid status. Many hypo patients do not get enough thyroid medication to raise their Free T3 and Free T4 levels enough to relieve hypo symptoms until the TSH is suppressed below its reference range. For your doctor, this is a good link about the lack of utility of thyroid tests, especially TSH, after thyroid meds are started. http://www.bmj.
Avatar f tn It begins in the upper area of the abdomen and kind of moves around until it localizes in the lower right abdomen. The fever and dizziness is also indicative of appendicitis. If her abdomen stops hurting all of a sudden, RUSH her to the ER because that is a sign that the inflamed appendix has burst. Please let us know how she is!

158939 tn?1274915197 If you, or a loved one, have experienced thyroid cancer they have three surveys that they need us to fill out, One regarding voice changes after thyroid surgery another on RAI (I-131 treatment) another on alternative medicines with thyroid cancers These surveys have been put together by medical researchers and they need participation from us, the professional patients. :-) here's the link: http://www.thyca.org/surveys.
Avatar m tn 4. Appendicitis goes with nausea, vomiting and raised leukocytes in the blood. Appendicitis is painfull at any time you press on area. Bouncing sign is present: lye down on the back and press deeply sopmewhere on your lower LEFT abdomen, then release the pressure quickly. In peritonitis or appendicitis you should feel a sharp pain on the LRQ area. Peritonitis would also show marked inflammation in the blood.
Avatar f tn Another thought...Occassionally, 4-8 weeks post Thyroid ablation, patients have a surge of thyroid hormones that cause a ton of problems. I don't know if this is the same for thyroid removal patients, but it may be worth looking into...
Avatar n tn its not any diffrent really , if you work there you are monitored closely for radiation but as a patient ot is no risk unless pregnant , and then can still be done if needed .
Avatar f tn Barnes published the results of his work in a book, Heart Attack Rareness in Thyroid-Treated Patients documenting his work with 1,569 patients. The Framingham Study would have predicted 72 of Dr. Barnes’ patients should have suffered heart attacks. Only 4 occurred! And those four patients were on low dose—none of the patients on higher doses of thyroid hormone (NDT) had a heart attack. At least 30 of Dr.
Avatar f tn Hi, About a month or two ago, I believe I had strained some muscles while working out. The pain didn't happen right away maybe one or two weeks afterwards. At first it stemmed from my neck, shoulders, and upper back. Soon after I started to feel pain in my chest, both sides right by my armpits, lower back, and abdomen area especially on my right side. The pain is usually sharp. When I do sit for a long period of time, both my right and left sides hurt but more on my right.
Avatar f tn A few other causes of pain in the low abdomen are a problem with one or both ovaries, on the right side, appendicitis, and gas pockets. Since you are uncertain if you may be pregnant, it won't hurt to ask the doctor for another test for that. If you are late for your mense and aren't pregnant, you might consider whether or not you might have a hormonal imbalance and ask the doctor about testing for that.
Avatar n tn When you repost this please include any and all labs and values you have currently, what the doctors have said, and what his symptoms are. Yes, unlike doctors we are very interested in symptoms. We believe that is the heart of auto immune and it goes so commonly ignored. I really hope you get some answers soon!
Avatar f tn I’ve been trying like crazy to lose weight the smart way with eating healthy and exercise, but I’ve been gaining weight. Come to find out my thyroid is off again. I don’t understand what causes my thyroid to go out of whack like that. My endocrinologist is really good with diabetic patients, but I think I am going to find a new doctor since she has not been very helpful with my thyroid problems. I am on 225mcg of Synthroid now after my blood work came back TSH 3rd generation came back 4.
Avatar m tn An appendix is usually on the right side of your stomach and you will usually run a high fever with appendicitis. However, if you are still concerned, you can call your doctor and ask to speak to a nurse.
