My daughter is suffering from eczema from the time she was 2 months old. Her Ped prescribed antihistamine for itching. We are concerned about the side effects.
She does not have any immune system related issues.
Her itching increases during the night time and it has been severe since the past 2-3 weeks. Only now we started giving her antihistamine and are concerned about the side effects.
Is there any other way to stop her itching.
I moved from a very humid climate to a dry, colder climate/higher altitude this winter. Since moving here, we both have developed rashes throughout our body. Dry skin, kind of scaly but not quite, just noticible, red patches some no bigger than a dime some larger. They itch too. I have to assume that this is due to the climate change, but wonder what would be good treatment. I have tried a combination of a good moisturizer mixed with hydrocortisone cream with no luck.

Dry skin usually results from environmental factors that you can wholly or partially control. These include hot or cold weather with low humidity levels, long-term use of air conditioning or central heating, and washing or bathing too much.
Other conditions cause itchy skin as well.
The itching never goes away unless I take an antihistamine. I am really sensitive to medications in general; having to take something every day really wipes me out. With 4 kids this is hard. I have always gone the natural route with everything, so this kind of scares me. What will long term, daily use of this med do to my body and will I gradually need more as time goes on. Is there another way?
It works for my cousin and he is always itching cause he is allergic to gold and he drinks beer and his skin gets like snake skin but when he use that his skin get soft like it was before...I hope you can get the same results..and my other friend have the same problem but she dont like meds..she is vegan and she drinks aloe and she dont itch like she would before she said her inside get dry and thats why she buy aloe drink to give her moisture..and her skin is bueatiful..only when she drinks it.

I have been experiencing an itching problem since last few months. Most of the time it happens in evening time on my upper part of body, like on back, stomach area, chest but more on my back close to neck area. It occurs for 5 to 10 min but very intensive. It may be possible that you were exposed to the poisonous sap of some plants such as poison ivy, oak or sumac. The usual symptom of poisoning is a severe itching of the skin. Later, a red inflammation and a blistering of the skin occurs. In severe cases, oozing sores develop. The rash spreads by the poisonous sap or urushiol, not as the result of contamination from sores.
I found that I was waking up itching the other night on my chest, I presumed it was just dry skin or heat, but the itching has got worse and worse and spread to my entire body. Scalp, neck, back chest etc - all over.
Have tried Piriton & Eurax cream to no avail, doc prescribed cetrizine anti allgery tabs & calamine lotion. These have had no effect at all.
This is my 2nd night up with no chance of sleep. The itching is driving me insane & I cannot sleep at all.
