I'm 18w and have high blood pressure. My doctor told me where she would like for it to stay but didn't think to ask how high is too high and when I should be concerned. Anyone???
I'm at 35w3d and at my apt yesterday the doctor told me my BP is slightly elevated. My BP was 184/84(I don't know what all the numbers actually mean), I have slight swelling in my legs and feet, occasional light headedness and bright spots in my peripheral.
She sent me home with orders to check my BP 2x a day, rest as much as possible, and track the other symptoms. She also ordered all sorts of bloodwork and a 24hr urine collection for protein.
Has anyone else dealt with this?
I have high BP and I've been put on bed rest. Dr never told me to change my diet, just to drink lots of fluids.
Ladies, I'm currently pregnant with my second,10 weeks and 4days. I have high BP this time around and def. didn't last time.. I keep having migraines and just feeling horrible and when I do I check my BP its running around 158/95. Any suggestions on how to keep it down?
Hello my mother had trouble with her bp during her pregnancy. I know that meds can be scary during pregnancy but talk to your ob he knows best what is safe for you & the baby. Get lots of rest & stay cool the hotter your body is the higher your bp goes up & find out if bp is high because your retaining fluids, you will have to cut out salt completely.
You see a cardiologist for heart palps. Your BP is always on the high side when you see your doctor. (EVERYBODIES BP is on the "high side" when we see our doctor! It's called "white coat BP." It's perfectly normal! We're scared!)
I am NOT a doctor, but your cardiologist is. He hasn't put you on BP meds becuase he doesn't consider your numbers to be high. They are no doubt very normal for you.....no matter what that machine at the grocery store says!
Pain can certainly cause your blood pressure to be elevated. However, so can some of the meds given for pain relief. If you were prescribed any of the non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) which include ibuprofen, these can also increase your blood pressure.

The dosage of drugs as well as they type of medication needs o be titrated with the findings in your "Stress Test". Since the normal resting BP was normal, and the Stress BP was too high, correct dosage needs to be given. This is a standard practice , followed world wide, for prescribing the medicines, and the way to prescribe, depends upon the analysis of the findings, obtained during the "Stress Test".

Normal bp is about 120/80 or less. I had pre eclampsia with my first and it was 160/100 so they took my son 2 weeks early and I had no clue or symptoms that it was high. It seems a little high to me. How many weeks are you?
whoa. How do you know your bp is that high? Take it again and if it is, go to the hospital. the top number of 189 is WAY too high. If you were 130 to 140, okay. But above that, one is going to get concerned. We don't want you to stroke out. Your bottom number is oddly low though. Something looks off. Home BP monitors can be great but somethings hard to get accurate results. Take your bp again and go to the ER or urgent care if still so high.
