Avatar n tn "Mechanism of Action Oxomemazine, a phenothiazine derivative, is a sedating antihistamine" The above information is about all I could find on this drug. If it is used in the US, I have no idea what label it's under. Even if I had been able to find more information, I am not qualified to tell you to either stop or start or change any medications. You need to speak with your doctor or chemist for an answer to your question.
Avatar m tn Dear p1954 Carvedilol belongs to a class of drugs called beta blockers. It is responsible for inhibition of beta receptors present ubiquitously on the heart muscle. By blocking these receptors, it helps prevent the effects of adrenaline/noradrenaline on the heart thereby maintaining a low heart rate and reducing the energy expended by the heart per beat.

714398 tn?1229666191 In people who are epileptic or otherwise prone to seizures, this drug usually causes a seizure because its mechanism of action reduces the seizure threshold. Alot of people just have one seizure and never have another, in your case it appears to have been provoked by the drug. I would consult a neurologist.
Avatar f tn t hard data available regarding the interactions of these two drugs. The [published data suggests that the mechanism of action of Effoxor is not known and the statistical evidence suggests that the effect on depression is open to question. Xanax alone has been around for a long, long time, but is now tightly controlled. Years ago this was not the case.
Avatar m tn http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/578705 Ribavirin improves early responses to peginterferon through improved interferon signaling. Gastroenterology. 2010 Jul;139 The therapeutic mechanisms of ribavirin for hepatitis C are unclear. Microarray analyses have shown that ribavirin increases induction of interferon-stimulated genes. We evaluated viral kinetics, serum cytokine expression, and viral mutagenesis during early stages of peginterferon therapy with and without ribavirin.
Avatar m tn Exposure to allergens causes a runny nose with a resultant post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate causing cough. Cough is a protective mechanism by the body as it helps to prevent infections. Discuss these options with your doctor when you happen to meet him next time. In the meantime for relief from your symptoms you could do warm salt gargles and take OTC antihistamines. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn (CTRV), a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of targeted antiviral therapies, today provided new insights into the mechanism of action of its hepatitis B (HBV)-optimized cyclophilin inhibitor CRV431, showing that it effectively blocks a critical interaction between HBV X protein (HBx) and host cyclophilin A, with nanomolar potency.
Avatar m tn The mechanism of action of CampralĀ® (acamprosate calcium) Delayed-Release Tablets in maintenance of alcohol abstinence is not completely understood. Originally, several neurotransmitter systems, including GABA, were investigated for a possible role in Campral's mechanism of action. However, recent evidence suggests Campral's main interaction is with the glutamate system. Chronic alcohol exposure is hypothesized to alter the normal balance between neuronal excitation and inhibition.
612551 tn?1450022175 I had prior to the vet visit above been given Wilson one half Benedryl 25 mg Antihistamine morning and evening, in the hope it would clear up the paw problem. A couple weeks of this did not produce any improvement. I then checked and saw recommendations to use 1 - 2 mg per pound. As Wilson is j20+ pounds my does level was low. I have decided to continue giving him Benadryl but now one 25 mg capsule morning and night. Hope it keeps his paws and general itch problems under control.

1772374 tn?1326246237 Just did some simple googling. Apparently a "new" drug (seems like the old ones) for bipolar disease. It's so new and so untested the mechanism of action is apparently not clearly known, but it probably acts in part on serotonin, meaning you shouldn't be taking 5htp with it for cautionary reasons, especially since this is a new med and the side effects won't be known for years.
Avatar f tn Truthfully, I do not what drugs I can take since I can have either no reaction, hives or swelling. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Any suggestions on how to deal with my allergies? I have many allergies but things have been fairly bearable until pollen season. Thanks.

Avatar f tn Plavix has a unique mechanism of action by blocking the amplification of platelet activation by released ADP, and often used with aspirin to prevent the risk of clots for the first year after DES implant. Plavix and aspirin have different mechanism of action to prevent clots. After a year, plavix is usually discontinue as the risk for clots is decreased, and aspirin is continued long term. The risk of a clot is about 3%.
Avatar f tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema.

Avatar n tn Other medications associated with green urine may contain phenol groups and include promethazine, thymol, cimetidine, and propofol. The mechanism of action appears to be caused by phenol's conjugation by the liver and subsequent excretion by the kidneys. The strength of the green seems to be dose related. Some nonphenol drugs noted to produce green urine are metoclopramide, amitriptyline, and indomethacin.
