666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar m tn I WORK IN MEDICAL RECORDS AND HAVE WORKED IN THE NURSING AREAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR MOST OF MY ADULT LIFE AND FROM WHAT I SEE ABOUT PATIENTS WHO ARE TAKING ALOT OF DRUGS THEY ARE TAKING A DRUG BECAUSE OF ANOTHER DRUGS SYMPTOMS. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH ALL THE MEDS. SOMETIMES IT BETTER TO FIND SOMETHING NATURAL IF YOU CAN. IF YOU CAN EAT HEALTY, AND EXERCISE REGULARY THIS MIGHT HELP YOU MORE THAN ANYTHING. GET TO KNOW WHAT TRIGGERS YOUR ALLERGY AND TRY TO STAY AWAY FROM IT.
Avatar f tn Reverted back to my former cardiologist and she feels as though Acid Reflux/GERD is what is causing a majority of my symptoms and put me on Omeprazole. Recent followup and she has changed the rx to Pantoprazole, I believe it is supposed to be longer lasting. She mentioned also wanting to do another stress test as well. Personally don't want to endure more radiation as I am scanned all the time for one reason or another in trying to provide a dx for all my problems.
Avatar f tn I sometimes have so much drainage that I have to take oral antihistamine, too. I hate it, because the oral antihistamine is so sedating.
Avatar n tn I agree with Resilient_Mimi. It is probably allergies. I would suggest that you try sinus rinses along with the antihistamine. Also, keep doors and windows closed as much as possible. If you have central air conditioning, running the fan continuously to filter the air would also help. Let us know how you do and if you would like more suggestions. There are many life style changes that can benefit allergy control. Another possibility is GERD.
Avatar f tn Hello! Odd that you don't have GERD symptoms and he said that...I'd ask him what it was he found that made him decide...Maybe he didn't find anything significant and just had to come up with something? I'd be suspicious of an ENT doc making a GI doc's diagnosis...I know heavy sinus drainage causes an irritating cough that comes and goes...especially when allergies are in action...Have antihistamines worked?
Avatar f tn Truthfully, I do not what drugs I can take since I can have either no reaction, hives or swelling. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Any suggestions on how to deal with my allergies? I have many allergies but things have been fairly bearable until pollen season. Thanks.
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar m tn Hi...Yes, when u r on these meds for ne length of time u can have a reaction when u stop them suddenly which is called rebound.... The meds r PPI proton pump inhibitors, it turns off the acid producing pumps....when u stop taking the meds...the pumps all turn back on all at once and u have way too much acid which will make u feel really bad. Just having water in this situation can affect u.... If u want to get off these meds u should step down to help avoid the rebound effect.
Avatar f tn Have had this very irritable, barking cough for over a week, which requires constant lubrication and a bad taste in my mouth. I'm not really coughing up phlegm. My throat also feels very inflamed. I've lost my appetite since aswell. I take lots of vitamin c and antihistamine and have even tried a prentative inhaler.
Avatar f tn My main concern is the phlegm/mucous in my throat. I take nasonex and prilosec (for suspected GERD) but nothing seems to help. ANy suggestions on what this could be or what I can do?
959034 tn?1253671476 Antihistamines are used for nausea/vomiting. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is actually in the same class of drugs as some prescription medications used to treat nausea/vomiting, so if you haven't tried that it may be worth a shot.
Avatar n tn The other thing is to keep up your intake of Vitamin C, Pepcid does nothing for colds, it is a stomach acid inhibitor and treats Acid Reflux, Gerd or heartburn, has nothing to do with Colds or Flu, You can take Advil for muscle aches due to colds, it is an anti-inflamatory for muscles.
Avatar f tn Can I treat these issues without drugs? The drugs make me so tired and I get very vitamin deficient quickly and have already been diagnosed with Osteopenia at 32. I already have started lifestyle changes - such as changing diet, elevating bed etc. Can I fix this without drugs?

Avatar m tn Hi everyone. I have been suffering from GERD for years. I recently got a teaching job, and from day one of talking I've felt extreme throat pain. My ENT confirmed I have Reflux Laryngitis, and ramped up my meds. I was taking Nexium, and keeping weight under control. Now she added Zantac and some allergy meds for my post nasal drip. Has anyone had a job that they talk all day, and due to the GERD had severe throat pain and/or Laryngitis? How long did it last?
17644146 tn?1458782868 I contacted the company and asked them if their Clear Eyes Pure Relief Multi Symptom Preservative Free eye drops had antihistamine (which I cannot take). Avatar m tn I was dx a few months back. Take advair twice a day (was taking singulair too, but it gave me a headache) & take aciphex daily for gerd. the aciphex has helped w/ the coughing some, but i still cough a good bit...sometimes to the point of dizziness. If I laugh, I cough. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn The medications that have caused this so far are drugs for GERD and drugs for hypertension. I have tried just about all of them. The reaction is always the same. It starts with tiredness and then goes into a burning sensation in my chest, upper back and down my arms. It is accompanied many times by tingling through out my body. When it gets bad it is very hard to handle. I discovered that xanax is beneficial in reducing the symptoms but it doesn't completely eliminate the symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi, I often get a feeling deep in my throat that feels like a pressure. Often times I find myself manually breathing because it seems harder to take a breath. This seems to go on all day whether or not I've been eating. I've gone to the GI doctor who said I had GERD and dumping syndrome after an EGD and xray of stomach. I've had an Echo scan done on my heart with all being normal. I've had several doctors listen to my lungs and it sounds fine.
906115 tn?1344200509 You may have also heard of Bendectin (which combines an antihistamine with vitamin B6). This drug was once widely used in the United States to treat morning sickness, but controversy over its safety during pregnancy despite no scientific evidence that it was harmful forced the company to pull it from the market. (These days, it's only available in Canada under the name Dicletin.
Avatar f tn Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
