Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine cream or tablets

antihistamine

Avatar n tn I always have a bad reaction to insect bites or stings with really bad swelling. Normally necessitates application of loads of antihistamine cream, taking maximum dose Piriton tablets for days, then a course of strong antibiotics. If I'm in a situation where I know there is the risk of being bitten, is there any advantage in taking Piriton tablets in advance - along with using insect repellent?
Avatar n tn ve never seen anything like it.. Put me on anti biotic, cream , painkillers and antihistamine tablets... anyone any idea what this is?
Avatar f tn I have what I found on the net a condition know n as Formication which is a crawling snesation under the skin which is very itchy. I have tried antihistamine tablets, creams, and product I can bath in. I am slowly going mad and I cna't stop itching. Does anyone have any remiedies for this before I go off my head?
Avatar m tn Your may take antihistamine (like Benadryl tablets) . It is an allergic reaction. If there is no change you may talk to your parents.
Avatar m tn Thanks for replying but question is what type of oral anti-fungal tablets should I use and where/how do I obtain them?
Avatar m tn I am sure you must be using some antihistamine tablets on regular bases. It it is because of dry skin you may use moisturizor over the whole wet body twice a day.some time some meds are giving quick results. Difficult to pick up such products even for doctors. So usually it is by trial and error method. I think deramtological forum will give better advice than this general forum.

Avatar m tn I did not change my eating habits or my lifestyle and did not change any kind of soap or liquid using for bath or washing powder for my cloths! I don't believe that this coming from stress because when i am relaxed and when I wake up in the morning I still have itching! Today, I informed my dermatologist and he told me to double the Xyzal tablets, one tablet 5mg in the morning and one tablet 5mg at bed time.
Avatar f tn You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. If the symptoms persist then it will be better to consult a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn Vistaril cream and Hydroxyzine tablets...at one point a medrol pak, it was all that helped.
Avatar f tn I mentioned the allergic reaction to the gynecologist but she said that the rash on my lips and the Fluconazole were unrelated and gave me some antihistamine tablets to treat the new rash. After having used the prescribed medications, I woke up the next morning to the same itchy red lips and tightness in my throat. I stopped taking the medicine she had prescribed, took the remainder of the antihistamine tablets and the rash and tightness once again went away.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me the dosing for HC cream if using the cream instead of tablets? I remember the gram weight I think but not how often to use. Is it once a day or several times like the tablets?
Avatar m tn You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.
Avatar n tn Corticosteroids(5% corticosteroid creams are available over the counter) in the form of creams(dermacort) and ointments can be applied to the affected area to reduce the inflammation. Antihistamine tablets can help if there is itching associated. You can apply calamine lotion to your face.It helps in soothing the skin.Severe acses may require oral steroids. For this you need a prescription from a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn For the last two days I have had an itchy foreskin. I think that maybe it is a bit dry but there are no marks or rashes or things there. A few weeks ago I had an outbreak in a strange rash (not on my penis) and the doctors put me on antihistamines and I have been taking them ever since (I have missed couple of days) There has been NO discharge, NO pain urinating, NO blood passed.
Avatar n tn Course of treatment to continue for twenty days or so My concern here is although the rash is slowly improving with this medication plus the cortisone cream and antihistamine tablets im worried that the reason ive had no fever, malaise , achy muscles etc is due to the corticosteroid treatment masking these symptoms Appreciate your thoughts.
Avatar n tn Adults: 50 milligrams (mg) twenty to thirty minutes before bedtime if needed. http://www.drugs.com/cons/unisom-sleepgels-maximum-strength.
Avatar f tn I was told it was pupps and was given a prescription for an antihistamine and some cream. The cream burns when I apply it and the antihistamine I am uncomfortable taking as it says not to take the in the 3rd trimester on the information. But without it I get so itchy what do I do?
Avatar f tn Hi! I'm 26 years old and currently suffering from itchy, red bumps that eventually develop into rashes. Most of these rashes are in my panty area, but I noticed a few just beneath my armpits, abdomen, neck and back, too. My dermatologist has given me corticosoid creams (pardon the spelling if it's incorrect) and Betneton tablets, but I don't seem to respond to them at all. I found rubbing some coconut oil on them quite soothing, though.
Avatar m tn Please Help me. i had red, itchy, swell penis forehead last year & i gone to doctor and he tested me for HIV 1&2 antibodies, VDRL, HERPES simplex virus 1&2 IGG-IGM & TSH and all test came normal (negative). Then my doc told me that it is candidal balanoposthitis & he gave me fusidic acid cream with terbinafine cream and some tablets for infection & infection cured 70% but itching never gone.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
