Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics in general

antibiotics

Avatar f tn I have a wound on my right ring finger and my left leg of which neither one will heal. I have had them for 2 1/2 months. I have been on 2 different antibiotics and 2 different prescription salves and they have not yet cleared up. They both drain a lot and the skin is very dry looking and cracked. The wounds are very red and both hurt. Tho the finger hurts more than the leg usually. I am currently waiting on some blood work return. Any clues?
Avatar n tn nothing antibiotics for a wk cant help.
Avatar f tn Also did ct scan and xray of stomach End result was bladder infection and she was told that she had no good or bad bacterias in her intestine. They send her home with antibiotics and said thats all we can do for you. Bottom line she continues to get sicker and her PCP is shaking his shoulders. Her OB is still finding blood in her urine with no answers. She is sent from doc to doc and she gets no diagnosis because there are so many doctors involved and the DO NOT talk to each other.
Avatar n tn If you do have a urinary tract infection, your doctor will prescribe a 3 day course of antibiotics. I would try drinking more water and cranberry juice and see if this helps. If not, see your doctor.
Avatar n tn Sounds like a bacteria to me. You need to take him to the doctor to have this looked at and get him on some antibiotics. He probably needs a tetanus shot as well.
Avatar f tn I posted the question about having a swollen lymph node that is sore under my right jaw bone but I also have been feeling very fatigued and having widespread pain in my back, shoulders, neck, hips with numbness in my right arm, hand and fingers. I am also having a "stabbing" sensation in the right side of my heads that occurs about 3-4 inches above my right ear. It only occurs once in a while but makes me a little woosy for a few seconds when it occurs.
Avatar m tn call the dentist and let him/her know you have a sore throat. the antibiotics will not make it worse, may even make it better. I just had my abscessed wisdom tooth pulled 2 weeks ago and was in the middle of taking the antibiotics, hadnt finished them yet. he may give you another rx for them or you may have to see your general practitioner. But definitely call them and give them a heads up!
317787 tn?1473358451 For patients with a pre-existing liver disorder, the detoxification function of the liver is already compromised and substances that would normally be metabolized could actually accumulate in the liver or in the bloodstream. Antibiotics that accumulate in this manner could become toxic to the body and its functions can change drastically from its original purpose. The following is a list of the most common antibiotics groups being used today.
Avatar n tn You can add a teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda to a glass of water and drink this. You can do this 3 times with an hour in between each dose. This neutralises the acidity in the urine that is causing the discomfort. You may have very fine kidney stones, (they can pass as very fine grains of sand) but as you have not complained of any other pains elsewhere, I think this is unlikely. Let me know how you get on with the doctor. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn My understanding of the Marshall protocoal is it uses antibiotics to treat bacteria in the body. My problem with that is there are bacteria in the body which are necessary for good health and you will be killing them. There are natural substances such as garlic and various herbs which kill bacteria in the body. If you take antibiotics you would need some probotics to give you back the good bacteria.
Avatar n tn When I get the ache, the doc puts me on antibiotics. I have had 3 rounds of PenVK and am now on amoxicillin. I get better on the antibiotics, but then about a week after I finish them, the pain returns, so I'm put back on. How many rounds of antibiotics is okay? Also, all my teeth are shifting on this right upper side so I have made apt with an orthodontist. Can braces be put on even though I'm having root/infection problems and the crowns aren't sealed off?
Avatar n tn But now 2-3 years after my treatment I am stating to get spots and my skin in general, compared to others is bad. Right now I mainly have spots around my chin area going up my jaw line but not above my mouth (well only a few). I have a few scars where I have popped them because they were whiteheads but I'm not to bothered about these spots as I WAS as IMO they are getting better.
Avatar n tn If it is you need to see a doc and he/she needs to give you antibiotics. IV is the best/fastest way. If you are diabetic go back to the Doc and tell him/her its getting worse right away.
Avatar n tn The short answer is yes. In general it takes less antibiotic to prevent syphilis in a person who was exposed but hasn't yet developed the infection, as would be indicated by the presence of a lesion or a positive blood test, than it takes for curative treatment. The augmentin taken twice daily for two weeks would certainly cure and prevent development of syphilis.
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Avatar m tn http://www.sinomedresearch.org/hcv/articles/c17_ABX.htm what do you think ? What you know about the antibiotics and HBV ? what antibiotics are safe to use ?
Avatar n tn I also have experienced chronic fatigue and a general decline in my overall health. At first my whole body swelled up. I was on IV antibiotics then switched to oral for a few months. Any insight would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn I also had sypillis and hiv test twice in early september and late september which turns out to be fine and my std doctor discover there were infection in my throat and again antibiotics for a week and i kept on taking which took place in november.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the forum. These are straightforward questions. As for testing you for HIV, that isn't at all weird. Automatic HIV testing is recommended whenever anyone is tested for STDs. In any case, "freaking out" is an overreaction. The chance you caught anything is very low. Have you spoken with your partner about all this? She probably knows whether or not she was tested for STDs during her pregnancy. But even if not, probably there is a low chance she has one.
Avatar f tn Actually shaving while having symptoms is not a good idea in general. I'd throw out the razor you used. I encourage you to call your provider today and go and be seen and retested and examined again.
Avatar n tn and would hiv or hip c trigger an autoamunme disees in 20 weeks post expousre that would ulter my hiv test results ( my test was an ELISA in one on the biggest hospitals in the city i live in)? and what does no reactive mean when it comes to hiv testing?
Avatar f tn You need to get antibiotics to treat this. It's not good to leave a UTI untreated in pregnancy, which the doctors know, so I don't understand why they can't give you any. I would go back to your general doctor and see if they'll prescribe them. I do know that there's only 3 different antibiotics you can take in the first trimester to treat a UTI, so they need to at least try one of them.
Avatar n tn painful lumps in the anus/rectum, pain and swelling in the anus or buttocks area, painful bowel movements, fever/ or night sweats, and abdominal pain. Antibiotics treat the infection that has caused the abscess. The specific antibiotic depends on what infectious organism has caused the abscess. Whether the abscess is drained or not, antibiotics are always used to treat the underlying infection. Needle aspiration of the abscess to remove the infectious fluid.
