1569985 tn?1328247482 Copied from the Mayo clinic An American Heart Association (AHA) committee found that for most people, the risk of endocarditis from dental procedures was low. Daily activities, such as brushing, flossing or chewing, are much more likely to cause endocarditis than are bacteria that enter the bloodstream from a single dental procedure.
Avatar n tn response to q 1. temporary crowns are usually made in one piece if the teeth involved are next to each other. i see nothing wrong with making what you percieve to be one temporary on four teeth. however,it should be contoured so it is shaped like four separate teeth, and especially since it is one piece, it should not come off so easily. the longer the temporary, the better it should stay on. despite it coming off, decay should not really settle in that quickly.
Avatar f tn My cat has an infection from a bite to his face. He weighs 9lbs. and is 11yrs. old. Can I give him amoxicillin? How much and how often? I cleaned the wound w/ peroxide and applied neosporin.
3148906 tn?1343695795 Hi there, When you take antibiotics you need to restore the normal "flora" in your tummy by eating Yogurt and taking Pro-biotics for the duration of the antibiotic course and a few days thereafter. You can get Gaviscon OTC and drink it 3 times a day and that will also help.
Avatar n tn How recently did she have these teeth pulled? Was she put on a course of antibiotics after the dentistry was done? It sounds to me like she may have a deep-seated oral infection that, even though the bad teeth were removed is still present and causing the canker sores. Where are the canker sores on her mouth? Are they inside on the gums or oral mucosa or are they on the lips, more toward the outside?
Avatar f tn all in second trimester! Ur dentist should control the infection w/antibiotics until ur secobd trimester! As for pain after they gave me Tylenol 3!
4373539 tn?1354708752 Ditto Jackie. The tetracyclines can discolor teeth in developing children, so pregnanct women and children under 8 (or older for those with delayed teeth) shouldn't take them. I haven't heard of any tooth discoloration in adults.
Avatar m tn Peridontal infection can go straight to your heart. This is why the meds prior to cleaning your teeth. IN my opinion you are playing a dangerous game by not taking the antibiotic for your infection. Look it up--- gum infections and the heart.
Avatar f tn Im having my teeth cleaned for the first time in years, also getting a couple of feelings and I will eventually need my wisdom teeth out. Ive never been told I needed antiobiotics bfore dental work. I have pvcs/pacs and possible svt. My heart is structurally normal according to my recent echo. Im a bit concerned about developing endocarditis. Should I ask my doctor about getting antibiotics even though Ive never been told to take them??
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Avatar n tn Hi Gina, Thanks for your reply. I was on Ciproflaxocin antibiotics for 5 days, which my doctor does not think is related to the diarrhea as they normally perscribe this to stop diarrhea. I have today gone for a stool sample test. See what happens.
1182699 tn?1297574784 s off to the Endontist (sp) for IV sedation??? Has anyone ever had to do this? Is this safe with the heart junk? Do I need cardio clearance for that? I'm sure it's just versed, which I tolerate well, but geez...really???They can numb everything but the tooth?
Avatar n tn try to find out if your state host free dental work, it texas we do triage days they might not be able to help you with dentures, but they could possibly help you with the removal of infected teeth.. if you have taken antibiotics for a long time then your body can build up a tolerance for them.. sorry, hope you can find help soon.. in my prayers..
Avatar f tn I am in the midst of phase I of a reconstruction of my teeth due to bruxism and/or TMJ. After the 4 hr. appt to prepare my upper teeth for the impressions, my dentist decided to fix a problematic tooth not specified in the phase I project. He found I needed a root canal, which he did. During the procedure, he said my "devital" tooth had abscessed and he worked on that.
800427 tn?1324945719 ask your doctor for a antibiotic that your not allergic too. 95% of the time its not your wisdom tooth that hurts, its the infection that your wisdom teeth being swollen causes. usually if you get an antibiotic, the pain goes away within 2 days and you could hold off until the baby is born. i know because all 4 of my wisdom teeth needed to come out. i was in agony and i mean agony. the doctor told me i couldnt get them out for at least 2 months cause th oral surgeon is booked. I freaked.
Avatar m tn I am going to be having a few surgical extractions done on May 29th, or at least i am considering it. My teeth are in very poor condition, and the teeth that i am having taken out are broken down to the gums. My question is will my mouth and gums be healed enough to go back to work 14hrs a day 7 days a week starting on June 6th? Is that enough time to heal?
Avatar n tn Is it dangerous? It is too costly for me here which seems like i cant bear it as we had teeth treatments done for me and my husband also this month. His travel insurance people said after all deductables he give 80% of the bill which is again only till 100$. please help me with your valued suggestions... Thankyou MEDHELP!!!!
Avatar f tn Okay so im scheduled to get my tooth pulled in 2 weeks, my dentist prescribed me 2 weeks worth of antibiotics to take because the medicine that they usually use to numb a patient getting a tooth pulled is not good for the baby so they supplement that for antibiotics, I just wanted to know if any other mom evr took antibiotics while preg?? I guess because I'm a FTM I'm really nervous but I just don't want nothing to hurt my baby like I just need clarify...
619150 tn?1247048274 Thank you for your reply, living with this is a pain and wonder if it could be a cause to sinus problems. I have a appointment with a dentist after the first, if I can afford it, still trying to find a dentist here in Missouri that will accept medicaid. I would still like to know the symptoms of the infection spreading to the brain. I have a "tension" like pressure in my forehead, the sides of my head and sometimes just a pressure feeling "inside" my brain.
612551 tn?1450022175 Subsequently I received an estimate via email for the teeth cleaning, about $350, What? It includes administration of an anesthetic (sleep) and X-rays. But, this is more than twice what I pay for a teeth cleaning and X-rays - of course I cooperate and don't "nip"... I believe if I were able to brush the dog's teeth the plaque would not be a problem and that is all that is really needed... cleaning off the plaque. Is it time to shop around for a teeth cleaning?
Avatar m tn Have had a wisdom coming through for last 10 years. In morning wake up with pressure pain on other teeth. Teeth are in fact crossing quite badly. Mentioned this to 2 dentists in UK and one when I was living in Italy. All seem to be reluctant to take out wisdom tooth. The tooth rests just over the back tooth and has chipped off the enamel of that tooth. My front teeth are beginning to buckle and am sure that it needs taking out.
Avatar m tn Yes, you may have an infection. Go back to your dentist and get it checked out. You may need a course of antibiotics and they may need to go in there to clean the area up.
Avatar n tn I asked my husband, a dentist, and he said the medication can cause dry mouth, so be sure you get your teeth cleaned regularly. Also, when you go to a dentist tell him you are taking the medication because some antibiotics can cause adverse reactions (like erythromycin) when taken together. Thye dentist will know to prescribe an antibiotic that is safe to take with Geodon.
Avatar n tn The doctor at the free clinic thought she had 4 abcessed teeth and prescribed antibiotics to help with the infection until she could get to a dentist. She was finally able to get into the sliding scale clinic about a week later. The dentist said that he only saw 1 abcess and removed the tooth. Since the extraction last week, she has been in severe pain not only where the tooth was, but also along her jaw, up the side of her face, in her neck as well as having headaches from the pain.
Avatar f tn Sounds like kennel cough. That will not kill your puppy, but you need to get her to a vet for antibiotics. It'll take your puppy 1-4 weeks to get over the hacking cough, depending on how long she's had the cough and how badly it's supressed her immune system. As for losing teeth, that's normal. Her baby teeth are falling out and adult teeth will grow in, just like children's teeth do.
Avatar n tn Get a doctors okay to see a dentist. I'm only 12 wells 4 days and my obgyn cleared me to see a dentist for the worst pain I've ever had in my life. They cleaned my teeth and gave me antibiotics and medicine for pain. When I'm done with antibiotics they're going to pull the tooth and take my wisdom teeth out.
Avatar n tn Yup...good news is...having teeth extracted doesn't really hurt all that much. The dentist can give a perscription for a strong ibuphrophen (like Advil) and perhaps some antibiotics if there's any infection. I've had 3 wisdom teeth pulled (all at once) and a couple other extractions and it's never as bad as we think it's going to be. So...you shouldn't worry to much...he wont be in that much pain. Hope this helps and all goes well!
