antibiotics

1399266 tn?1280637104 It is a tough situation. Antibiotics are for bacterial infections so unless the abscess is a secondary diagnosis to a bacterial infection, the antibiotics won't make it go away. On the other hand, if she reacts to anesthesia, putting her under to pull the tooth would be a problem. I would suggest further discussion with your vet so that fully understand the risks and benefits of both courses of action.
Avatar m tn I have a dental abscess on upper molar. It has been drained and I am taking antibiotics, but now my lower jaw is starting to hurt. Can this abscess be spreading from upper to lower?
Avatar n tn If you continue to see signs, like the water is cloudy again or you see swelling or more external holes, then it might be a very good idea to go to your vet for antibiotics and to see what is causing the problem (usually, like I mentioned, the damage is a one time thing, but once in a while you get an ongoing cause, like a foreign object lodged under the skin or perhaps, in this case, a broken tooth is scratching against the inside of your cats mouth).
Avatar m tn by the time i got to the er the doctor told me that my abscess was 1 inch by 3/8 of an inch big. that is pretty large for an abscess. with something like this the longer you put it off the worst it will get. hope you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn I had a hole in my heart closed in august 2009 and I take preventative antibiotics for all my dental work because of risk of infection. I have been having these kinds of symptoms since November 2009. I am worried I have a dental infection spreading from neglected dental work, that was complicated by a mis-diagnosis. Sorry for dragging this on, and on. Does a tooth abscess ever not show up on a X-ray? Possibly draining out before X-ray is taken? draining into roof of mouth or sinus?

2093279 tn?1379547953 It can be diagnosed with the help of clinical examination, dental x-rays and other tests. Antibiotics are given for the infection. Warm salt-water rinses and over-the-counter pain relievers may relieve the toothache and fever. A root canal may be recommended in an attempt to save the tooth. In severe infection extraction may be necessary. Keep me posted with more queries. Best luck and regards!

Avatar m tn Nobody can find infection, and yet I respond to antibiotics to the point I am able to function, ei. Get out of bed, shower, go for a walk. I am currently taking ibuprophen for pain. Outside of this, I was a very healthy, active person. Is it possible that abscessed teeth would not show up on a dental x ray? Everything else has been ruled out.
619150 tn?1247048274 Thank you for your reply, living with this is a pain and wonder if it could be a cause to sinus problems. I have a appointment with a dentist after the first, if I can afford it, still trying to find a dentist here in Missouri that will accept medicaid. I would still like to know the symptoms of the infection spreading to the brain. I have a "tension" like pressure in my forehead, the sides of my head and sometimes just a pressure feeling "inside" my brain.

Avatar m tn Probably a viral infection. I recently had a hiv fear although i used protection. My sixth week(actually five weeks, 6 days 12 hours to be precise) elissa fourth gen test came out negative. I'm a little sure that it can't be because of hiv. I have a wisdom tooth on my left side that is causing a tooth to decay. I got dental abscess about a month back. I didn't treat the dental abscess. This sore throat is pretty annoying.
9624973 tn?1413016130 It is not healed completely. I completed two weeks ampoxin course of antibiotics. After week of antibiotics I did LFT. They are normal. I think if your baseline marker are within range. Then couple off weeks antibiotics won't make much difference.
Avatar n tn I have a tooh abscess - with swelling in the cheek area. My dentist started me on antibiotics. My question is, how long will it take for the swelling to go down? It's been approximately 48 hours and it still feels about the same size. What would happen if it were to burst? At what point would I need to go to the ER.
Avatar f tn You can always contact your local dental society for a dentist or clinic that may provide free or more affordable dental care. You can also go to the local dental school. It sounds like it may be an abscess but its a little unusual that it would start now if they gave you antibiotics at the ER. Did they prescribe some medication for you to take afterwards? When did you have the teeth pulled and then the visit to the ER? It sounds like it all happened quite recently.
Avatar f tn i am having a rear upper tooth extracted tomorrow - the pain will be slightly less than I have had over the last two weeks - this has been flaring up and down since February, but the last episode meant that I looked like I had a golf ball tucked in my cheek - my left nostril was numb, my head was too sore to brush my hair or touch, my neck hurt when I moved my head, my ear was crackling - the nhs dentist refused to drain the abscess but gave me antibiotics, these didnt work and I had another cou
Avatar m tn I'm not sure if there is one in your area, but dental schools are also good sources for low cost dentistry.
Avatar f tn 2 days ago, I had a dental abscess in the upper right side of my mouth, between the tooth and the gum, and it was slowly draining from a hole in my gum... So, I decided to try and squeeze some of the infection out myself and as I was in the process of doing so, the abscess busted and drained internally (into my cheek). My face started swelling immediately and in about 15 seconds, it had tripled in size!
Avatar f tn they only thing to get rid of the abscess is to take antibiotics to get rid of the infection and after baby is born they may have to do a root canal or pull tooth all together. mine had to be pulled out. but definitely get it checked out i was told by my dentist that it can get bad enough and get into your blood stream...

Avatar n tn Painkillers that he would normally take for a headache are also ok to take.
Avatar n tn You both need competent medical or dental assistance! Infections need treatment with antibiotics and the right antibiotics. Please don't put off treatment by either a medical doctor or dentist. Trying to remove teeth yourself is not advised. Many times a root wraps around the bone and you can REALLY injure yourself in a permanent manner. Please do not try this. Massive jaw bone infections can be the result of self treatment in this manner.
