Angiography stroke

Common Questions and Answers about Angiography stroke

angiogram

Avatar m tn To confirm the diagnosis, it is necessary to perform magnetic resonance angiography in the acute stage of stroke to search for intracranial stenosis, the authors say. Thereafter, control vascular imaging is important to evaluate the reversibility of vascular abnormalities. However, when there is a doubt between stenosis and arterial artifacts, conventional angiography with 3-dimensional reconstructed images is needed to confirm diagnosis of stenosis, they add. Avatar m tn During the time at the hospital, the Echo 2D test showed irregular heartbeat and the doctors suggested Angiography. The Angiography did not come out very well and multiple blockages were found, ranging from 50% to 100%. Doctors suggested bypass as Angioplasty wouldn't help. As my father is almost 75 years old and as he has a critical brain clot, diabetes and also piles, we felt that it would be too difficult for him to handle the bypass, hence kept him on medication.
Avatar n tn how long can a ischemic stroke affected person can survive, specially when he is only on medical management and also when he is suffering from angina?
Avatar f tn , controlling blood pressure and cholesterol, smoking cessation, taking an antiplatelet agent if no contraindications, etc) and also determining the etiology of the stroke (e.g., did the stroke occur secondary to a cardiac source, etc). The chronic small vessel changes may or may not be significant. It is difficult to say without seeing the images since this phrase is nonspecific. Thank you for using the forum, I hope you find this information useful, good luck.
400099 tn?1282954864 My husband had an mra to rule out brain stem stroke. What does this mean: "MRA of the neck is limited by motion artifact. There is significant misregistration present." Can you help?

Avatar n tn How long ago was your stroke? What kind of stroke did you have? What does your doctor have to say about the migraines?
Avatar n tn It took me over 6 hours to paint a ceiling in January 08. Later that evening, intermittent dizziness began and persisted. Saw my MD who said I might have crimped the two arteries at the back of the neck. A tick bite necessitating Doxycycline in early June made the dizziness worse, so after clear Lyme and RMSF titres came back negative, I was taken off the Doxycycline. Went for about 2 months with no dizziness.
Avatar f tn Does that mean that they saw some aneurysms, but that they are small? Do I need to worry about ruptured aneurysms or stroke? If so, is there anything I can do to prevent either? Thank you.
122065 tn?1241385329 Just had an angiography of the eyes with contrast as a followup to the vitreous separation and a cotton wool patch was discovered on the left eye. Health is good - low blood pressure, no diabetes, low cholesterol, etc. Doc assured me it will go away but was concerned with what may have caused it. I am on HRT and he said this could be the culprit. Ae there any symptoms with these patches? That eye is feeling just a bit off.
Avatar f tn I have had migraines for over 3 years since my stroke which the neurologists seem to think were caused by my stroke. And I have since read many posts from others who have migraines after their strokes. But there are many treatments that the doctors can do. You need to find a headache specialist or at least a neurologist.
Avatar f tn My father has COPD and one month ago due to brain stroke (stroke cover his right side) he got paralyses in LHS. Suddenly his COPD attack increases and he put in to artificial ventilation. but within 32 hours he got out of it. After that he lives nicely but every 2-3 days he got spazum and needed to give oxygen supply with bipap. Doctor (Chest Specialist) was always telling that his lungs are weak but not that much which causes frequent spasm.
368646 tn?1208393887 Apart from MRA or magnetic resonance angiography, Doppler/ultrasound of carotid arteries, to detect carotid artery stenosis or detection of the precerebral arteries. For the assessment of stable stroke, nuclear medicine scans SPECT and PET/ CT may be helpful. SPECT documents cerebral blood flow and PET with FDGisotope the metabolic activity of neurons. Hope this helps .Take care.
Avatar n tn Have seen GP, Cardiologist and Neurologist in past 3-4 months. Diagnosis of possible stroke 2 years ago (sudden onset numbness left arm and hand and grasping function). Positive Babinski left foot. All labs are normal, other than +1 ketones in urine. Heart normal. Echo and CA++ Scan show 0% chance of cardiac event. MRI of head/neck shows 70% occlusion right internal carotid. SPEC scan normal. CT angiography show stenosis. So, here's the question.
Avatar f tn Other reasons can be cervical spondolysis and vertebrobasilar insufficiency.I feel that MRI neck and MRA(magnetic resonance angiography) can confirm if there is any compression of the neck veins. Apart from these, the other causes of lightheadedness are hypoglycemia, orthostatic hypotension,TIA,impending stroke, inner ear diseases, meniere’s disease, endocrine disorders like thyroid, adrenal glands, and pituitary gland disorders and carotid sinus syndrome.

Avatar m tn Acute nonhemorrhagic left perisylvian and deep frontal white matter infarct (MCA territory). She had a mild stroke 4 years before on the right side and she is visiting the hospital every 1 or 2 months regularly to physician and he use to suggest the warf, etc. We felt that she was almost recovered but yet again she suffered as written above. Can you please suggest how to treat it? what are the implications?
Avatar f tn Another modality that can be used to assess for aneurysm (other than MRA and angiography) is CT-angiography (CTA). This is a CT scan taken after a dye is injected through a peripheral IV. If the aneurysm is seen clearly, it may not need angiography and can be monitored serially with CTA. You should discuss your concerns and the options with your physician. By the way, why did you have the MRI/A performed?
Avatar m tn 2) I have read about Macular OCT and OCT Angiography for advanced Glaucoma. Can these tests detect progression before they show up in increased eye pressure or vision changes? 3) Can Macular OCT be done in the same machine that does regular OCT? 4) Would you happen to know if OCT Angiography would be available in countries like India? Sorry for the long message. Thank you for your time!
Avatar n tn excessive bleeding at the site of the incision, infection at the incision site, allergic reaction to the contrast dye. Serious complications which are very rare occurrence include blood clots, stroke, kidney or blood vessel damage. It is best that you inform your doctor about this for proper evaluation. Additional diagnostic tests such as echocardiogram may be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn My father is 60 years old and he has developed severe aortic stenosis. His angiography was done today and it was found that 2 of his arteries LAD are blocked (90%). He has type 2 diabetes and is hyper tensive. He is asked to have a bypass and valve replacement. What are the risk factors involved and is there anything to worry about?? Can someone please give views?
Avatar f tn My Grandmother has been detected with a blockage in heart, and its not getting well by the use of medicines. Her Doctor is suggesting Angiography now. Her age is 81 by now. I wanted to take other Doctors opinion about this case.
