angiogram

Avatar n tn The tenative diagnosis is BACNS, but they are not sure. I have not yet had a brain biopsy or a ct angiogram. I have been put on steriods and verapamil and have had no attacks in a month or so. I have been experiencing some slight numbness in my extremities ( random) and some light headaches/ dizziness from time to time. I am wondering if this is normal or I should be running to the doctor. What am I looking at as far as the prognosis ? Also, I live in Knoxville, Tenn.
Avatar m tn What can be ruled out with a ct angiogram? Can we see what the EF is ? Also can they find any abnormalities in the shap of the heart? And can they see any major valve regurgitatiOn? I'm concerned ? Because some people rather have a conventional angiogram and don't see a ct angiogram useful and I would like to know why??
Avatar m tn I saw a new cardiologist at a different hospital and he thinks I should have a CT Angiogram.. A CT Angiogram is a none invasive procedure, it takes 3d pictures of the heart using a ct scane 64 slice method. The scane can pic up blocked blood flow and narrow blood vessels.. But I would like to know witch one of the two is more reliable test.. Considering I had a negative nuclear stress test.. Will the ct angiogram be a more persised test at pinpointing and finding a possible problem..
Avatar m tn While chest pain that gets better with nitroglycerin can be suggestive of agina, there are several other types of chest pain, such esophageal spasm, that can get better after nitroglycerin. Exercise tests and stress echocardiograms are screening test for coronary artery disease. If these screening tests are abnormal, the next step is most likely a cardiac catheterization and angiogram in order to look definitively at your coronary arteries.
Avatar f tn Regarding the headaches you describe, they are not the classic headache from increased intracranial pressure, however high pressure can produce a wide variety of types of headaches, and I have not seen a study describing each of the types of symptoms a patient can present with high intracranial pressure. Always with headache is important t rule out something else producing it.
Avatar n tn A systolic of 250 is very high, but it can be controlled with meds and lifestyle changes, most importantly exercise. The tests they are running are most likely looking for possible cardiovascular causes as some types of cardiac myopathies will cause high BP. It is most likely not caused by a heart problem, however BP this high can result in heart disease so it is very important that the underlying cause is found. Unfortunatley, cometimes there is no underlying cause.
974371 tn?1424653129 I had a 24-hr halter monitor and and ECHO treadmill test a week or so ago. Saw my doc this morning and I guess the Holter Monitor was within normal range. Had an average of 64 bpm, minimum 43 bpm, maximum of 102 bpm (never felt that). Let me add that once *again* I had been complaining to my doctor of a *hard* heartbeat which he always attributes to nerves and/or stress. He finally ordered these tests. I am an almost 62-year old female, maybe 15-20 lbs overweight.
907968 tn?1292622204 The risk may be greater if you have certain types of heart disease. Your doctor should slowly lower your dose over several weeks if you need to stop taking it. This should be done even if you only take Carvedilol Extended-Release Capsules for high blood pressure. Heart disease is common and you may not know you have it. Limit physical activity while you are lowering your dose. If new or worsened chest pain or other heart problems occur, contact your doctor right away.
Avatar m tn To rule out the possibility of the image being in error from the scan, which can happen, it is worth the angiogram. There are different types of coronary artery anatomy, if you look up right, left and co-dominant you will see a few examples. I believe that in most cases the right artery also reaches down into the apex on one side, I know mine does according to my angiograms. However, during the angiogram I'm sure they will shoot some dye down both sides to see if there are any problems.
Avatar n tn While the ECG, cardiac enzyme tests (like troponin) and echo can simulate the picture of an acute heart attack, a coronary angiogram will not show a lesion/thrombus. Most of the time, this apical ballooning is reversible with time, and the cardiac function improves over a period of weeks to months. Arrhythmias are known to occur during this period.
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar f tn You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure. Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.
Avatar n tn After a cardigraph treadmill test I'm being referred for angiogram - I'm going on holiday in two weeks with a 3 hour flight. Should I travel?
329165 tn?1515471990 I had an Angiogram done in 01/2007. i have familial-cholestorol (latest lipo showed total of 6,9 fasting) During the Angio they only found coronary artery spasms. no blockages found. the past 4 weeks or so I have been experiencing chest tightness and some burning pains in chest - at rest. lasting under 1 minute and dissolves by itself. I have not been taking any Cholestorol meds (medical aid depleted) for the past 7months.
Avatar f tn My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication. His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.
Avatar n tn my mother is suffering from chest pain now Doctor is saying to go for angiogram test?
Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
Avatar n tn hey my dad is suppose to go in for an angiogram but he fears what might happen to him if he does. i was wondering if there was possible any alternative procedure or something else he could possibly do.
Avatar n tn how do i intepret an angiogram result? to know which is left or right? how to know if there is a block?
974371 tn?1424653129 t say we have the best doctors where I live. Anyway, I am afraid an angiogram will be ordered and I really do NOT want one of those done. No way could I get through that and understand they keep you awake? Wondering if there is an alternative and if anyone has had the angiogram done and what your experiences were.
Avatar n tn A CT angiogram is more sensitive than a straight forward angiogram. They both rely on a radioactive substance being injected into your blood stream and it's this which the scanners pick up. If a CT angiogram doesn't reveal a vessel, then no way will an angiogram. I had a vein that was closed after a bypass procedure and they looked for 30 minutes in a standard angiogram procedure to try and find it.
Avatar m tn I think another angiogram is your best option personally. It will show how clear your vessels are but ask them to do a FFR on your coronary arteries. This is a tiny sensor which gives the cardiologist the blood flow rate. Without this test, they are simply going by visual signs which is an inaccurate method. I would like to know what your BP was to lower your EF to 15%?
Avatar m tn The tests indicated a blockage. I am now waiting for an angiogram. They put me on drugs after the test. I am on 1.25mg Monocor, 5mg Norvasc, 10mg Crestor as well as ASA 81mg - one per day. Now I wait for Angiogram. I am quite freaked out. So I am scheduled for an angiogram on Feb 5th. They tell me there are risks in this test. The risk is 1 in 1000 people die, stroke or have a heart attack during this proceedure. My question is this, Should I get a 64-slice Coronary CT Angiography?
