I had my pre-op appointment today in preparation for the angiogram that I'm having this coming Friday and I was told to start taking baby aspirin from now until Friday as if they have to put in stents they wouldn't do them unless I've been taking baby aspirin, does this make sense? What I was told is that apparently if you take baby aspirin your body will be prepared for the stents and not reject them? Not sure about this, if anyone has any other info please let me know.
My doctor's office is setting up my appointments for blood donation, etc in preparation for my mitral valve repair. I was very surprised that he is not ordering a catheritization (angiogram) because of my age and the fact that I do not have any risk factors. I am 42 years old. My cholesterol is 237, HDL 106 (yes that is correct), LDL 118, Triglycerides 65. No family history of heart disease. I have a parent who had 6 bypasses, but was in his 80's.

I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure.
Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.

My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication.
His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.

Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
hey my dad is suppose to go in for an angiogram but he fears what might happen to him if he does. i was wondering if there was possible any alternative procedure or something else he could possibly do.
