Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram pictures

angiogram

Avatar f tn By any chance do you know if there is a significant difference in the number of images for an angiogram without stents vs the one that would have two stents? The hospital said that there are 6 discs for an angioplasty (2 stents) but only 1 disc for just the angiogram when they didn't place any stents. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Many cardiologists seem to prefer angiogram. I've had both a ct angio and an angiogram and I didn't feel any difference between the two. I still had the same burning sensations from the dye etc in both procedures. I did look at the images from both scans and the angiogram shows everything in real time, actually working. You see the blood flowing, you see the heart pumping and you see the reactions of the arteries. With the ct angio all I saw was a set of still pictures.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled for an Angiogram next week. My question is what does this all mean? Also had mild regurgitation in valves. Should I be concerned.
Avatar m tn I was reading up on a Magnetic Resource Angiogram, (MRA) where they inject dye into the vein in the arm and simply take pictures using magnetic imaging, no cather flowing in my arteries. I would much rather prefer this method but I would like to know will it do a good enough job in detecting plaque build up in arteries as a Coronary Catherization?
Avatar n tn Went to family physician who was concerned and suggested nuclear stress test or CAT angiogram and gave me a choice. He ruled out blood work to look for enzymes. He told me the CAT would require prior insurance approval and recommended nuclear stress test. Like the EKG's I am sure that nothing will show up on the stress test. Should I save the insurance co pays etc and go straight to CAT angiogram? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn I had angiogram. It showed 4 of 5 bypasses were in tact and other had gotten some collateral circultaion. 2nd cardiologist want to get the films themselves and states the pictures themseves. the report on the one gone bad is very vague. I thought was was only one way to read an angiogram to determine if a stent is needed. I get chest pain 10-20 times a day. with 3-10 nitro on average. My stroll is now down to a shuffle, just trying to ward of the chest pain.
Avatar n tn An Angiogram is an X-ray test that uses a special dye and a small camera to take pictures of the blood flow in an artery or vein. They will put a small catheter into the artery or vein to inject the dye in there and then take pictures of the area to get a clearer imagine of exactly what is going on. You most likely will have an IV for fluids and any medication that they doctor may want to give you.
Avatar f tn The heart DR wants me to have a CT angiogram to rule out heart disease and them might put me on a heart regulating medicine so I can go off the coumadin. Any ideas with all my other "stats" why my heart is acting up?
Avatar m tn I saw a new cardiologist at a different hospital and he thinks I should have a CT Angiogram.. A CT Angiogram is a none invasive procedure, it takes 3d pictures of the heart using a ct scane 64 slice method. The scane can pic up blocked blood flow and narrow blood vessels.. But I would like to know witch one of the two is more reliable test.. Considering I had a negative nuclear stress test.. Will the ct angiogram be a more persised test at pinpointing and finding a possible problem..
1530144 tn?1291940314 These are pictures taken of your retina, with a high res digital camera, no radiation. The only energy produced is from the flash. At least the equipment that I have been tested with.
Avatar n tn I have been given dilated eye exam 6 times plus twice was given fluorecent angiogram within less than one year time. One of the doctors had told me that I have retinopathy and some aneurysms. The second last time I went to see him, he gave me my second angiogram. After that, My eyes become very sensitive to light. Any sunlight, ipad glare, night lights, sometimes even room lights. it has been more than two weeks this condition still remains and I got headache while in the sun today.
Avatar n tn 1.The root path where the aorta meets the arteries, where the 60% blockage is. 2.Yes angiogram was done, My father had a heart attack and we rushed to the nearest hospital. The doctor found 100% blockage in right artery and went through a angioplasty for the right artery but while the angiogram he found 2 more blockage in left and main aorta.Doctor gave us two options first angioplasty and second bypass. As bypass is a megor oparetion so i think angioplasty is more suitable.
Avatar m tn See a retinal specialist. You may have central serous retinopathy. Make sure you get an OCT and a flourescein angiogram. Dr. O.
847433 tn?1243009652 I had an MRI done about a month before the surgery along with a cerebral angiogram about a week after the MRI. I do have a picture of the aneurysms from the MRI which I could show you but I don't think I can attach it to this message. The MRI was very clear showing the aneurysms but the angiogram was 100% better, it showed them in a 3D kind of way. If you would like me to send you the MRI pictures, let me know where to send them and I would be happy to do it.
Avatar m tn Statistics would probably say there is more risk driving to the hospital than having an angiogram. The idea of an angiogram is obviously to establish how bad a blockage is, and a perfusion scan is not as accurate. My perfusion scan said my heart was receiving a great supply but my LAD was like a thin piece of cotton thread. The angiogram showed this, but ecg did not, stress test did not, echo scan did not, perfusion scan did not.
Avatar f tn results so he wants to do an angiogram just to make sure there is no blockage even though MIBI pictures and Echo are both normal. I'm really scared to have this procedure done. I cannot do my day to day activities as my BP and heart rate go extremelly high, if I rest and specially if I lay down on my right side I can lower my BP to 117/76 and heart rate at 76, but as soon as I move it goes to 145/98 and heart rate in the 90's or more. Should I go through this procedure?
Avatar n tn was able to get the spasms on video and pictures during an angiogram. The problem I have is that not just a portion of the artery spasms the whole artery on both sides of my heart spasms, the Doctors have said this is very rare and are trying to treat with medication. The meds make me very ill, and unable to cope with simple day to day activities. Does any one know if there is a surgical procedure or any thing else that can help this problem.
Avatar m tn A magnetic resonance angiogram (MRA) is a type of magnetic resonance image (MRI) scan that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to provide pictures of blood vessels inside the body
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar f tn You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure. Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.
Avatar n tn After a cardigraph treadmill test I'm being referred for angiogram - I'm going on holiday in two weeks with a 3 hour flight. Should I travel?
329165 tn?1515471990 I had an Angiogram done in 01/2007. i have familial-cholestorol (latest lipo showed total of 6,9 fasting) During the Angio they only found coronary artery spasms. no blockages found. the past 4 weeks or so I have been experiencing chest tightness and some burning pains in chest - at rest. lasting under 1 minute and dissolves by itself. I have not been taking any Cholestorol meds (medical aid depleted) for the past 7months.
Avatar f tn My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication. His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.
Avatar n tn my mother is suffering from chest pain now Doctor is saying to go for angiogram test?
Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
