Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram of the liver

angiogram

Avatar n tn I waited on my fiancé during his angiogram, 1 hour of waiting and 3 hours of supervising from the nurses then home we went
Avatar n tn the symptoms of headache and so on resolve, and the blood vessels return to normal. An angiogram is necessary to make the diagnosis, but additional testing that could be used in follow-up include a CT angiogram and a transcranial doppler (TCD) which is less invasive.
Avatar n tn In Aug of 2007 I had an angiogram and found out I had 5 seperate narrowings of 30 and 40 percent in my LAD and RCA. For about a month I went on a strict diet and walked a few miles every day. Then depression set in and I went on a year long ( on and off , not every week ) cocaine and depression binge. I stopped eating low fat and ate whatever I wanted at times and other times I was restrained. 2 weeks ago I went for a CT angiogram and today I got the news that my blockages are now 70 and 50.
Avatar n tn A bit of a vague report, but a follow up with the cardiologist to discuss the results should make things clearer. If you have no follow up, it might be an idea to make one. The Left anterior descending "shows plaquing" is not very detailed is it. To what extent is it plaquing. There is a blockage of 70-80% in the diagonal one, which comes off the LAD.
Avatar f tn Years ago, the treatment for angina (heart disease) was to not increase the demand for blood/oxygen that exertion does for the system. But the lack of exercise/exertion is now recommended. Ideally, medication for angina (if controlled) and exercise is considered the appropriate treatment as well as medication to dilate system vessels to help reduce the heart's workload, etc.
1856046 tn?1330237245 Perhaps an unknown toxin or chemical effects the blood vessels by causes constriction or inappropriate growth of the tissue within or around the vessel. For example, there is a condition known as portopulmonary hypertension that is result of liver failure. When these individuals receive a liver transplant, the pulmonary hypertension disappears suggesting that the failing liver is unable to clear some biochemical that leads to pulmonary artery hypertension. http://www.medicinenet.
Avatar m tn m sure if the LCx was opened, you should develop more collateral feeds. The OM1 comes off the Lcx anyways. None of the other blockages seem overly large to me.
Avatar m tn Iam 31, 2 Months before i got the chest pain and I immediately rushed to the hospital. They did the ECG and found little changes in V4 - V5. And I went through the angiogram. The angiogram results shows negative. And doctor discharged from hospital with some prescription for 3 months. Still I am getting the pain in center of chest. Two days before I went to doctor and in ECG found the V6 changes in the lead.
Avatar n tn If needed, they can also measure the pressures in the valves during the angiogram. If you feel you have symptoms of blocked arteries, you should see your doctor.
Avatar n tn Recent studies have found that statins like Lipitor acutally improve liver function in patients with liver disease and the incidence rate of liver failure is not turning out to be as high as originally thought. In fact, the FDA is considering dropping the liver failure side effect from the patient leaflet and consumer information.
Avatar n tn Except for a minor pricking from the injection of painkiller at the top of the leg I felt nothing whatever, watched the arteries moving on the screen and talked to the doctor while he was maneuvring around them.. As it happened, a stent was put in but again, I felt nothing. I was in truth a bit uncomfortable afterwards when the anesthetic (which is only given to avoid discomfort at the entry point) wore off but I asked for a painkiller and calmed down. Go ahead. Have no fear.
Avatar m tn This diagnosis was backed up by an Angiogram, which showed a 80-90% blockage in the Right Coronary Artery (RCA). The vessel is non-dominant, but you needn't be concerned about that, it's just how the vessels are laid out. Some are left dominant, some right dominant and others co-dominant. 776302 tn?1241091853 I to yesterday had the (Wrist Dye Angiogram). I am in a shocking way. BOTH of my legs the calfs mainly, feet, all toes & soles if my feet a almost TRIPLE in size.
1690772 tn?1325629867 i had signs of angina but got told i didnt have it had loads of test then the angiogram all came back clear but around 6~8 months but a different doctor sent me a letter saying the left ventrical blood flow is slow and need to go on beta blockers?
Avatar n tn Heart failure impairs the ability of the heart fill blood. The main symptoms of heart failure are breathlessness, dizziness, confusion, arrythmias, peripheral edema, and increased sweating. The exact diagnosis can be made only a physical examination. Heart failure is diagnosed by applying boston’s criteria. Please check the link below: http://www.aafp.org/afp/20000301/1319.
Avatar m tn The CT scan indicates there is substanital soft plaque buildup within the linings of the vessels. A couple of years ago, my total CT score was/is over 1000 and that is supposed to indicate a high probability for a heart event within a year....waiting for the other shoe to drop!...no problems, feel fine.
Avatar m tn I agree, of course you would want an explanation of the results of an angiogram. Unfortunately, due to very busy schedules of cardiologists, this is not always possible. Surely there is an appointment with a cardiologist scheduled?
Avatar n tn They are now thinking that it was Pericarditis (inflamation of the lining of the heart). But they did not treat it and told me to go back to work and start exercising 4 days after I had it. Not sure what to think anymore. Still having the chest pains 3 weeks later.
Avatar f tn Cardiologists have to limit the number of patients having a nuclear scan but those that do have already had an angiogram. With the results of the scan, it can be seen if an area is short of blood supply but it doesn't show why. It could be tiny vessels, it could be larger vessels. This is where the angiogram comes into play and should give obvious reasons to the cardiologist. But at least he knows where to look. Just my personal opinion.
Avatar n tn He ran a series of test and told her to return for an Angiogram on the eye with the Fovea. Why is an Angiogram necessary for this type of problem and if the Fovea is still there, is there a cure for it? What can they do for her Fovea? This discussion is related to Cataract Complication: Fovea leakage .
Avatar m tn I have not had jugular biopsy but I have had an angiogram as a diagnostic for liver cancer. They do not out you all the way out for that because the need to have you hold your breath. Trust me, under the sedation you will feel no pain. Maybe someone else here can answer your question directly.
Avatar m tn Some are left dominant where the LAD and LCX supply most of the back of the heart. Some are right dominant where the RCA does this job. You simply have a dominant right side which supplies the back of the heart and I believe probably the AV node too. It's really just the way your plumbing is made up and is of no concern at all. Your LCX will be a relatively short vessel compared to someone who is left dominant because the LCX comes from the LAD (left anterior descending).
Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
Avatar f tn d be doing without this forum everyone is so nice and knowledgeable.
Avatar n tn If there are blockages, a stent implant (usually done at time of angiogram) will increase the diameter of the occlusion/occlusions permitting more blood to the deficit area. Sometimes the area of blockage can not be stented because of location, tortuous segment, too long, etc...then a bypass surgical operation may be the only remedy. Alternatively, some people find relief from chest pain with medication.
Avatar m tn Is the angiogram of leg advisable for the patients suffering from diabetics and foot ulcer? Please do reply for my question....
