Just because one artery to the brain was pinched is not enough. There is a circle of Willis feeding blood to the brain and that is supplied by four arteries, two carotid and 2 vertebral. In my case one of my carotid arteries is completely blocked, so 3 arteries are enough to supply blood to my brain. Low lying cerebral tonsils is another way of saying the tonsils are herniated...it does not say chiari...and u can get low lying tonsils from a few other issues and not just from chiari....so, u have to find out. A flow void is referring to ur CSF which indicates a CSF blockage...which can cause a syrinx to form..... U need a chiari specialist.

I have transient head, cranial and neck pain and concomitant vertigo. I just had a MRA that covered the circle of willis(no contrast) and a MRA of cervical neck. I've had this problem for 5 months it is less intense as it was but still have balance issues and the sense that I could go into a spin. Am I on the right track with this or do I need to ask for some other kind of test with my neuro doctor? My fear is that nothing will show and he will dismiss it back to menieres.

Would a MRA of the circle of willis without contrast show if I had a brain tumor anywhere? My mom has metastic melanoma and I am extremely paranoid abot getting cancer. There are 4 arteries feeding the Circle of Willis which supplies blood to the brain. My right carotid artery is now 100% blocked. So if the doctors feel that the remaining three arteries are supplying enough blood it should be ok.No idea what the doctors are referring to when they mention creating new pathways, sounds like they are just trying to confuse you.

Dear doc. I am in my early 20'. I am seeing something like this in both of my eyes always and it seems to be getting more noticable. I have seen an opthamologist and a retina specialist and found nothing wrong. I also taken an ERG and Fluorescein Angiogram and it is normal.

Ask your doctors why they didn't tell you about the circle of willis, it supplies blood to the brain and is fed by 2 vetebral and 2 carotid arteries. You don't need all 4 to keep the brain supplied with blood. One of mine is 100% blocked. Blocking those arteries does not directly cause a stroke, usually it is because the artery tears, clots, and the clot lets go travelling to the brain. Ask for a basic brain anatomy lesson from your doctor.

In Aug of 2007 I had an angiogram and found out I had 5 seperate narrowings of 30 and 40 percent in my LAD and RCA. For about a month I went on a strict diet and walked a few miles every day. Then depression set in and I went on a year long ( on and off , not every week ) cocaine and depression binge. I stopped eating low fat and ate whatever I wanted at times and other times I was restrained. 2 weeks ago I went for a CT angiogram and today I got the news that my blockages are now 70 and 50.
