she told me i had water retention and sent me to the hospital where they found i had angina and gardio myopouthy
i was in the hospital there for 2 weeks and they told me i needed surgery urgently and i needed to get back to Australia where it was coverd by medicareas the nhs didnt cover me for surgey i came back to Australia march 2010 went to see gardioligist here spent 2 weeks
t enough organs to go around. I am going to obtain a copy of my last angiogram at my next appointment (12th feb) and I will send it to various hospitals across Europe. If the NHS say they can do nothing, but a European hospital can, then the NHS must pay for it, it's the rules. It really is a shame they won't pay for trips to America because they are much better at getting blockages treated.
Hi I am from the UK but currently live in the US so know how both systems work. I would recommend seeing the specialist privately in the UK. It's usually not too expensive and you can be seen within days. For something like your eyes, this is a good investment believe me. In the US, you can see whoever you want......but believe me also when I tell you the bills are scary. Even with insurance! Don't hate on the NHS just yet.
I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure.
Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.

My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication.
His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.

A CT angiogram is more sensitive than a straight forward angiogram. They both rely on a radioactive substance being injected into your blood stream and it's this which the scanners pick up. If a CT angiogram doesn't reveal a vessel, then no way will an angiogram.
I had a vein that was closed after a bypass procedure and they looked for 30 minutes in a standard angiogram procedure to try and find it.
I think another angiogram is your best option personally. It will show how clear your vessels are but ask them to do a FFR on your coronary arteries. This is a tiny sensor which gives the cardiologist the blood flow rate. Without this test, they are simply going by visual signs which is an inaccurate method. I would like to know what your BP was to lower your EF to 15%?
The tests indicated a blockage. I am now waiting for an angiogram. They put me on drugs after the test. I am on 1.25mg Monocor, 5mg Norvasc, 10mg Crestor as well as ASA 81mg - one per day. Now I wait for Angiogram. I am quite freaked out. So I am scheduled for an angiogram on Feb 5th. They tell me there are risks in this test. The risk is 1 in 1000 people die, stroke or have a heart attack during this proceedure. My question is this, Should I get a 64-slice Coronary CT Angiograph​y?
For fans of NHS eye can system in UK! This is not a condition that should wait weeks before being seen by an ophthalmologist. This is a today or tomorrow type of problem.
A sudden "spot" in vision that comes up during an illness, does not move when the eye moves and is there all the time suggests problems in the macular, retina or optic nerve.
If the best the NHS can do is "weeks and weeks" consider trying to get in to an esteemed ophthalmologist that has private clinic.
CT scan 64-slice angiogram as well as a cath angiogram is by definition an angiogram as both involve a dye injection, but there is more intense radiation exposure with CT angiogram. It is fast becoming the radiological test of choice to look at disease of blood vessels. The next generation of a ct scan will reduce the individual's radiation exposure.
The ct angiogram involves an assessment of the body of the vessels as well as the lumen.
Just bring up the points I raised with your GP and ask to be referred back to your Cardiologist. The only limit to the number of angiograms is radiation exposure, which is very low anyway.
