Avatar n tn His Cardiologist ( in Bombay,India) advised CABG in the angiogram report, but on the day following the angiogram when my father expressed concerns about the efficacy/morbidity/mortality of CABG at his age to the same Cardiologist, the Cardiologist (who performed the angiogram)informed us verbally that he agreed with my father, and advised against a CABG at age 81.Also,he said that PCI was not a viable option, and advised medical Rx verbally.
Avatar n tn He reported to the hospital and angiogram was scheduled. But it took 3 days for angiogram to take place as we were told that he has low platelets and 3 SDPs were given to him. His platelets count was arnd 18k. After SDP it went up to 70-80k.
Avatar m tn The spasm may occur in arteries that appear normal or it may take place in arteries that have turned hard due to plaque build up (atherosclerosis). So it is possible not be seen with angioplasty. Spasm may be "silent" -- without symptoms -- or it may result in persons with stable angina or unstable angina.
Avatar f tn I apologize for misunderstanding your age, joshua. Yes, I'm sure it has been a long year, with everything that you have gone through. As for your question about the risk of death from an angiogram, there is an extremely low mortality rate. It's not zero, but it's very, very low. I'm not sure if you have anything wrong that would increase the risk for you in particular. The doctors don't do an angiogram unless they feel the risk is justified.
Avatar n tn next five years passed and numerous visits too er,one angiogram heart normal and 4 eps studies, all too no avail,no ablation done and notoow my cardiologist tells me he thinks i also have af,puts me on aspirin and sotalol,am taking aspirins but not sotalo as i think risks of taking these too high too be done in the home background and not a clinical monitored situation,i am now beginning too wonder just how much my doctors do actually know about these conditions.
Avatar n tn My father had just under gone angiogram and doctor told US that there are 5 blocks in totall which is not good for Placing stents. whereas By pass will be good and he will be more active than before. He also told that heart pumping is good which is a very positive result for US. By pass will clear all the issues and the possibility of strokes will be reduced in future. Balancing the risk factor and benefit factor he told that 99.9% this is curable and prefer to have a by pass.
Avatar n tn I have had a angiogram 10 years ago and everything was clear, no blockages anywhere. Now, there is slight angina more often than it used to seem to occur, but when I excercise, nothing hurts, all is well. Blood tests are all OK, but the physician suggested the CT scan.
Avatar n tn [48] A 2007 systematic review of controlled trials, however, suggested metformin is the only antidiabetic drug not associated with any measurable harm in people with heart failure, and that it may reduce mortality in comparison with other antidiabetic agents.
Avatar n tn I did research and the know mortality rate for LAD occlusion is very high. Is this something that can be managed with just medicines. Her EF is 45% with apical hypokensis.
Avatar f tn You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure. Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.
Avatar n tn After a cardigraph treadmill test I'm being referred for angiogram - I'm going on holiday in two weeks with a 3 hour flight. Should I travel?
329165 tn?1515471990 I had an Angiogram done in 01/2007. i have familial-cholestorol (latest lipo showed total of 6,9 fasting) During the Angio they only found coronary artery spasms. no blockages found. the past 4 weeks or so I have been experiencing chest tightness and some burning pains in chest - at rest. lasting under 1 minute and dissolves by itself. I have not been taking any Cholestorol meds (medical aid depleted) for the past 7months.
Avatar f tn My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication. His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.
Avatar n tn my mother is suffering from chest pain now Doctor is saying to go for angiogram test?
Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
Avatar n tn hey my dad is suppose to go in for an angiogram but he fears what might happen to him if he does. i was wondering if there was possible any alternative procedure or something else he could possibly do.
Avatar n tn how do i intepret an angiogram result? to know which is left or right? how to know if there is a block?
974371 tn?1424653129 t say we have the best doctors where I live. Anyway, I am afraid an angiogram will be ordered and I really do NOT want one of those done. No way could I get through that and understand they keep you awake? Wondering if there is an alternative and if anyone has had the angiogram done and what your experiences were.
Avatar n tn A CT angiogram is more sensitive than a straight forward angiogram. They both rely on a radioactive substance being injected into your blood stream and it's this which the scanners pick up. If a CT angiogram doesn't reveal a vessel, then no way will an angiogram. I had a vein that was closed after a bypass procedure and they looked for 30 minutes in a standard angiogram procedure to try and find it.
Avatar m tn I think another angiogram is your best option personally. It will show how clear your vessels are but ask them to do a FFR on your coronary arteries. This is a tiny sensor which gives the cardiologist the blood flow rate. Without this test, they are simply going by visual signs which is an inaccurate method. I would like to know what your BP was to lower your EF to 15%?
Avatar m tn The tests indicated a blockage. I am now waiting for an angiogram. They put me on drugs after the test. I am on 1.25mg Monocor, 5mg Norvasc, 10mg Crestor as well as ASA 81mg - one per day. Now I wait for Angiogram. I am quite freaked out. So I am scheduled for an angiogram on Feb 5th. They tell me there are risks in this test. The risk is 1 in 1000 people die, stroke or have a heart attack during this proceedure. My question is this, Should I get a 64-slice Coronary CT Angiography?
