Angiogram kidney damage

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram kidney damage

angiogram

Avatar f tn Can this cause scar tissue and or cause any further damage to the heart or vessels? I am 37yrs old with Diabetes of 33 years. No high BP and kidney function is well.
Avatar n tn Please help, any insight as to what tests I can ask for to get a diagnosis, to see if there is damage caused by the angiogram and hopefully resolve this so I can get back to my life. I have no quality of life now.
Avatar f tn They would like to do a repeat angiogram. Can this cause scar tissue and or cause any further damage to the heart or vessels? I am 37yrs old with Diabetes of 33 years. No high BP and kidney function is well.
326176 tn?1239515689 Angiogram is still the best, but the CT is quite good.
Avatar n tn s case the CT angiogram may also be considered risky because of kidney problems. His kidneys may not be able to deal with the dye used for CT angiogram. I am not a doctor so here I am just giving advice based on my on experience.
Avatar f tn You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure. Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.
Avatar n tn Her cretanin level is very high and her kidney is 60% damaged, there is also water retention in her lungs, so they said that taking an angiogram test would be risky, as it will damage the kidney further. So right now they are just keeping her on meds in ICU ( for the last 3 days), she is also put on oxygen and sometimes ventilator. I am worried that she is not getting the right treatment, is it wise not to go for an angiography?
Avatar f tn Plavix is to be taken with precaution in presence of kidney problems. Cozaar is to be avoided or taken with extreme precaution in CHF. This along with low blood pressure could have prompted your PCP to stop these drugs. For a person to have an angiogram he should be medically in a condition to tolerate the procedure and the dye used. Before doing an angiogram the doctors will do an EKG, an echocardiogram and/or chest X-rays. This is a tough situation.
Avatar f tn Recently I found out that I have minor blockage in my arteries. I am on medication for last couple weeks now and I am waiting for my angiogram. The doctor has told me that it could take any where from 1 month to 3 months. Now I am having pain in my chest and my left arm almost everyday. Sometimes it goes to my back and my neck too. I have shortness of breath every now and then.
Avatar n tn Thank you Doctor, good advice. Since posting, my new preventative Cardiologist, said that it could have been a misread pre existing stent, and he said I should get the blood test reports from the hospital and Cardiologist that did the Lexi Scan Dec 3, to see if my enzymes had changed for the worse during that period of time, and to him the would be the golden plate, that if my enzymes were stable I most likely didn't have a heart attack. If they were up I did have a mild heart attack.
Avatar f tn Hi Ken-thanks for responding-have you had an angiogram? My cardiologist put me on im (time released nitrates) in addition to the toprol xl (beta blocker) & said if the angina & SOB continued he wants to do an angiogram-if you did have an angiogram how did they decide when to do it?
Avatar f tn if one has nerve damage in the retina....will this eventually clear and and go away?
776302 tn?1241091853 I just heard about the Seimens Sensation 64 slice CT scanner test as an accurate alternative to the angiogram. It is non-invasive and the angiogram is invasive and may have serious side effects. Is this type of scanner really as accurate as an angiogram? Please let me know.
Avatar n tn You would need a stress test or a CT scan of your heart ( 64/128 Slice Coronary CT angiogram ). Make an appointment with a cardiologist. Why do you think you have a clogged artery?
Avatar m tn This is angiogram showing aorta, its branches and renal arteries and kidney outlines are seen. renal vessels provide blood supply to the kidneys.
539750 tn?1226521677 They had to put a breathing tube in. They then did a CT to check for brain damage and found she has bleeding on the brain, they also did an MRI. The ICU doctor said the bleeding is not small or large. Tomorrow they will so an Angiogram to see if she had an anyourism (sp). They don't know what caused the bleeding on the brain. My sister said she found her in bed, so they don't know is she fell.
Avatar f tn yes that is high, and it is due to the cardiac muscle damage. When heart cells are being damaged, they release a specific enzyme, which is the troponin that you had a blood test for.
Avatar n tn No heart damage was detected, they did an angiogram and found only 10% micro vascular blockages. Then one month ago I had again possible heart attack. Elevated triponin that continued to rise with chest pain. Did not see any stress cardiomyopathy on echo. I again had a repeat angiogram but only showed micro vascular blockages at about 10%. They are puzzled with what is going on. I am active and excise daily, have been eating low fat, low sugar diet for 15 years.
Avatar n tn an angiogram is the images taken using a catheter, injecting radio isotopes into the blood vessels to show up on an imaging system. As I've said before, all procedures carry some element of risk but some are obviously much lower than others. Angiograms are about the lowest you can get, but by law you have to be warned you could end up with a stroke or other organ damage if some plaque is knocked out of place.
Avatar f tn Thanks for responding:0) The spasm was dx'd after the angiogram was completed and they determined that it wasn't a heart attack...no damage done to my heart. But they didn't see it on the angiogram. I think the cardiologist made the guess after the angiogram didn't show much. They monitored me closely throughout the test. I didn't realize they set a guideline for how far to push the heart. Thanks, that answers my question!
Avatar f tn I went for a heart CT scan using dye and after I read the consent form I was concerned about kidney damage, however like all consent form all risks no matter how trivial have to be listed.
Avatar f tn From the posts I read it seems that many were taking above the max dose 4000 mg of acetaminfen daily. Irreversable liver/kidney damage has always been a big concern to me which is why I never exceed the 4000 mg a day. I just had blood drawn yesterday & will nervously await the results. If they tell me my enzymes are higher it will be easier to quit. I think. Have any of you had any damage to liver/kidney damage as a result of your vicodin use?
Avatar m tn I do have a fake front tooth that they like drilled up into my gums and put it in there by like a wire or something like that, that was done like 12 years ago.I'm a 25 year old otherwise healthy male, here the past 4 days I've noticed that I've been having a very strange taste in my mouth that will not go away no matter how often I brush my teeth. My appetite is horrible, I force myself to eat once a day, I've lost about 7 pounds.
Avatar n tn i just went to doctor they did my ECG number of time and found it normal. They did my Blood CPC, Cardiac Anzyme test, Kidney Creatinine, Urine, Stool, Blood Cholesterol (total cholesterol 209) found all report normal. My Creatinin Kinsas range only found 378. My BP is mostly found normal sometimes it is found to be 135/90. Last for 06 days i m undergoing this discomfort and still could not recovered. I even feel some shaky feeling at my left shoulder and arm.
Avatar n tn 6, echo gram showed wall damage with 45 % EF they told me I had MI previous 10-14 days. Sent to another hospital for angiogram which showed everything normal and not had MI, yet they discharged me with a statin, beta blocker & GNT spry.
