Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram information

angiogram

Avatar n tn It is difficult for anyone to answer without more information, and generally that information should be answered by your doctor who has your history. Apparently, there is evidence of blockage of blood flow to your heart cells. That condition usually is not life threatening as many people live a normal life without restrictions. If you aren't having uncontrolled chest pain, it is very likely your doctor will not object. Take care.
Avatar n tn how do i intepret an angiogram result? to know which is left or right? how to know if there is a block?
Avatar n tn A nuclear stress test is about 85% accurate in finding CAD whereas a angiogram is 100% accurate. The angiogram also carries a 1 - 3% risk of complications, the most common risk, although very rare, is having an artery dissected during the procedure which results in emergency bypass surgery. Having said that, if I was told I needed one I would do it without hesitation. It is the gold standard of heart tests to determine if CAD is present.
326176 tn?1239515689 Angiogram is still the best, but the CT is quite good.
Avatar n tn A calcium score can help RISK stratify you for major cardiac events over the long term, but it DOES not tell you specifics about the extent of your current blockages. A CT angiogram or a cath angiogram can do that--cath is still the gold standard. Recommendations for asymptomatic individuals based on their coronary calcium sore can be summarized as follows. Calcium scores of 0 identify individuals in the "lowest-risk" group with 10 year risk for cardiac events less than 5%.
Avatar f tn Cranial Nerve Palsy. I was ordered an angiogram of the Brain. Anyone able to provide me feedback on the diagnosis and or the CTA. Angiogram?
Avatar n tn You could ask for a ct angiogram if you are worried, which is basically a non invasive scan. However, to answer your questions, the angiogram is very safe as far as invasive procedures go. The biggest risks are stroke and heart attack, but for this to happen the cardiologist would basically have to disturb a chunk of blockage material in the arteries with his catheter wire. It isn't really about odds, are you the likely or unlikely odd?
Avatar n tn Thank you for the information. The test went well and the angiogram showed no heart or artery problems. We are now back to ground zero trying to figure out what is causing the chest pain and extreme fatigue.
Avatar n tn To go from an ekg to angiogram seems unnecessary based on the information posted. A stress test is a less invasive procedure, and usually shows any occluded vessels. Why is that test avoided? An angiogram can be with a cath (invasive...probe the coronary arteries) or an angiogram can be the Modern CT angiograms that uses multiple detectors to capture images from different rotations of the CT scanner.
Avatar n tn hi,iam sending my angiogram information, that LMCA NORMAL.; LAD TYPE III VESSSEL, PROXIMAL ECCENTRIC 80% STENOSIS(SEEN CLEARLY IN AP CRANIAL VIEW?),DISTAL VESSEL,NORMAL.;LCX:NON-DOMINENT,PROXIMAL40% STENOSIS,DISTAL DIFFUSE DISEASED.;OMs:ONE LARGE OM HASPROXIMAL 80% STENOSIS, IT DIVIDES INTO TWO MAJOR BRANCHESA ORIGINS OF BOTH BRANCHES HAS TIGHT LESIONS.;this is the summary of my report an my QUETION IS WHETHER IT IS CURABLE BY MEDICINE R NOT?
Avatar n tn Hi, I had a ct angiogram Dec 21 and my calcium score is 694. My cholesterol is 242. My doctor put me on crestor 10 mg per day. I just got the hard copy report today and my dr. is away for the holidays.... what does that score mean? I have chest pain frequently but they thought it was all in my head....
Avatar f tn It is difficult to say whether a cath angiogram (stent) is necessary without more information such as symptoms, other tests, etc... the stress test may have been included an echo?!
Avatar n tn The link to ANGIOGRAM at the bottom of your post gives a doctor's information about an angiogram with a cath (intervention) that is threaded through a vessel to your heart. Takes about an hour and a surgical doctor will be on standby in the event there is a puncture, etc. My complaint is an interventional cardiologists is inclined to implant stents during the procedure.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info. An angiogram has been suggested more then likely I will have the proceedure, As someone said keeping still for several hours is the hardest part. My results were from a stress test, which I was able to do physically without pain, at the end I was out of breath but not breathing laboriously. If I could resolve this problem without surgery I would. Can that happen? Thru excercise and diet?
Avatar f tn The site provides a definition of cat scan calcium score and cat scan angiogram. I had a CC score and angiogram a couple of years ago. I believe the state-of-art for CAT has scans of 256 slices....provides more detail and sharper images. I find the Mayo Clinic, Minn or Cleveland Clinic to be a good source for medical procedures, tests, dx, prognosis, etc.
Avatar f tn this is a non-invasive procedure compared to an angiogram and except for a dye reaction certainly has less risk. Provided almost as much information as angiogram. The CT scan can also give you a calcium score which may be helpful.
Avatar f tn I had an angiogram done 3 weeks ago and about a week ago I started being very itchy in that area now a week later I am itchy all over and have hives. Could this be from the angiogram? I also had an angio-seal put in. It is driving me crazy. what can i do?
Avatar n tn He ran a series of test and told her to return for an Angiogram on the eye with the Fovea. Why is an Angiogram necessary for this type of problem and if the Fovea is still there, is there a cure for it? What can they do for her Fovea? This discussion is related to Cataract Complication: Fovea leakage .
1327726 tn?1274989263 With just the information you provide, I would not go with an angiogram. If you are having chest pains (angina), does a nitrate relieve the pain? If your chest pain (angina) is not relieved with medication, then an angio. Did you have symptoms that would lead a doctor to believe you may have had a heart attack? Troponin is the appropriate test if a heart attack is suspected?.
Avatar m tn Both are simply looking at different things but can work well together to see more information. As we all know, An Angiogram simply looks at blood flow, whereas a Thallium test looks at Oxygen delivery (Perfusion). A classic example could be a patient with strong Angina who has a Thallium scan, which shows good results. This means (in most cases) collateral vessels have opened to feed past the blockage. An Angiogram will not see tiny vessels.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with chest pain for over a year now I have had several ekgs a stress test that came up abnormal so then they did an angiogram which came back normal yet I am still having chronic pain in the left side of my chest off and on and its sharp I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO !!!!!!!!!! I am tired of hurting all the time....what should I do next???????????
Avatar n tn The tenative diagnosis is BACNS, but they are not sure. I have not yet had a brain biopsy or a ct angiogram. I have been put on steriods and verapamil and have had no attacks in a month or so. I have been experiencing some slight numbness in my extremities ( random) and some light headaches/ dizziness from time to time. I am wondering if this is normal or I should be running to the doctor. What am I looking at as far as the prognosis ? Also, I live in Knoxville, Tenn.
