angiogram

Avatar n tn Not to be critical as I beleive Lutheran meant to say cath angiogram. Both cath or CT angiogram use contract dye to view perfusion, and that procedure is the definition of angiogram. A CT scan 64/128 views the anatomy of the 4 main heart vessels and will show any soft plaque between the linings of the vessel as well as any plaque buildup in the lumen. The cath angiogram views the lumen for the plaque that narrows and obstructs blood flow causing angina (chest pain).
Avatar f tn have had stress test scan, scan showed not enough blood supply to small part of heart. went in for angiogram said all okay and was probably small blood vessels causing angina. My problem is I am constantly tired and have been for two months no other physical problems showing up with doctor have corony heart disease is this all part of it This discussion is related to blockage they conceder no important.
974371 tn?1424653129 t say we have the best doctors where I live. Anyway, I am afraid an angiogram will be ordered and I really do NOT want one of those done. No way could I get through that and understand they keep you awake? Wondering if there is an alternative and if anyone has had the angiogram done and what your experiences were.
Avatar n tn I have no angina and excellent exercise ability. My cardio suggested to get an angiogram to see if it really blocked or just a false positive. I'm scared of the angiogram. Isn't the new 64 slice CT scan just as good to detect blockages as the invasive angiogram?
17646939 tn?1458700001 my Dr said I need an angiogram and possible stent.I was shocked and refused, because I had a bad reaction to the contrast dye. So I acquired the test results Apparently I also had angiography. Before the test I took the 50 mg of metotopol 2hr prior to my appt. They could not get an IV in me for 2hrs. They tried for a deep vein but finally went with a superficial one. The dye gave me the worst headache and I started to swell but I was so sore and bruised that was my main focus.
Avatar f tn My 75 yr old circumcised husband has enlarged red testicles. In addition his penis has shrunk so it's not visible. This occurred shortly after he had an angiogram and had a stint put in. I have been researching the enlarged testicles, but can't find anything that would connect the problem with his penis to the testicle problem. What could this be?
1213000 tn?1280463161 On May 19, after a MRI stress test was abnormal and an angiogram showed diffuse restonosis of the LAD stents, I underwent CABG (4X). 10 weeks later, another abnormal MRI stress test and on 30 July another angiogram. the results of thst angiogram was, all stents are now closed, all grafts are open but there is flow irregularities that may be caused by size mismatch between the vein grafts and the native arteries. This is being treated with Metprolol 25 mg and Diltiazem 120.
Avatar f tn During a routing physical, I had an abnormal EKG & was referred to a cardiologist. Cardiologist repeated EKG, which again was abnormal. He did an ultrasound (with contrast), then stress test, then another ultrasound. Went back yesterday to cardiologist, who at first, didn't seem overly concerned about the ultrasound & stress test.
Avatar f tn I have to agree, I would want more info on why they want an angiogram. While it may be necessary, I would ask for a better explanation.
Avatar f tn I had my pre-op appointment today in preparation for the angiogram that I'm having this coming Friday and I was told to start taking baby aspirin from now until Friday as if they have to put in stents they wouldn't do them unless I've been taking baby aspirin, does this make sense? What I was told is that apparently if you take baby aspirin your body will be prepared for the stents and not reject them? Not sure about this, if anyone has any other info please let me know.
Avatar m tn I have another angiogram scheduled. My Cardio DR. is concerned because of a "strong family history" of premature CAD. Here's my history and question. 3/21/14- Unstable anginia and abnormal stress test. Admission to hospital and given angioplasty due to a 90% blockage of the LAD. Diagnosis says:" successful ad hoc PCI to the LAD with a single resolute zotarolimus eluding stent with good results. No complications.

Avatar f tn I am hoping I can avoid angiogram if possible-sometimes I think it would be better to just have the angiogram & possible stent & get on with a better quality of life-thanks again for your help
Avatar m tn I saw a new cardiologist at a different hospital and he thinks I should have a CT Angiogram.. A CT Angiogram is a none invasive procedure, it takes 3d pictures of the heart using a ct scane 64 slice method. The scane can pic up blocked blood flow and narrow blood vessels.. But I would like to know witch one of the two is more reliable test.. Considering I had a negative nuclear stress test.. Will the ct angiogram be a more persised test at pinpointing and finding a possible problem..
Avatar n tn The tenative diagnosis is BACNS, but they are not sure. I have not yet had a brain biopsy or a ct angiogram. I have been put on steriods and verapamil and have had no attacks in a month or so. I have been experiencing some slight numbness in my extremities ( random) and some light headaches/ dizziness from time to time. I am wondering if this is normal or I should be running to the doctor. What am I looking at as far as the prognosis ? Also, I live in Knoxville, Tenn.
Avatar m tn I believe that the amount of radiation exposure is much higher with ct over a standard angiogram. Everyone talks about risks, but if you want clear results, an angiogram is the best option. If your CT shows a blockage, you will have to go for an angiogram anyway. The risks are very small indeed with an angiogram.
Avatar m tn The tests indicated a blockage. I am now waiting for an angiogram. They put me on drugs after the test. I am on 1.25mg Monocor, 5mg Norvasc, 10mg Crestor as well as ASA 81mg - one per day. Now I wait for Angiogram. I am quite freaked out. So I am scheduled for an angiogram on Feb 5th. They tell me there are risks in this test. The risk is 1 in 1000 people die, stroke or have a heart attack during this proceedure. My question is this, Should I get a 64-slice Coronary CT Angiography?
1534233 tn?1523388856 I had one of these a year ago which was normal but have had pains all year and am very stressed about it. Based on the info I know I don't see the point in having an exercise ECG really in my case, the link below is to a paper downloaded from the British Medical Journal and seems to support most other things I have read which seem to say that a normal exercise ECG does not prove nothing is wrong.
Avatar f tn I have just been scheduled for an angiogram and I'm scared to no end I have a 3 year old son I love to death same as my soon to be wife. I'm so scared something will go wrong during the surgery how coming are complications? Also my ej is 73 is this bad?
Avatar f tn You better check with your doctors, I am not sure about the potential damage due to the radiation dose that you will take during the procedure. Also if they discover blockages in your coronaries, I do not know about the risk of the medication that you will need.
Avatar n tn After a cardigraph treadmill test I'm being referred for angiogram - I'm going on holiday in two weeks with a 3 hour flight. Should I travel?
329165 tn?1515471990 I had an Angiogram done in 01/2007. i have familial-cholestorol (latest lipo showed total of 6,9 fasting) During the Angio they only found coronary artery spasms. no blockages found. the past 4 weeks or so I have been experiencing chest tightness and some burning pains in chest - at rest. lasting under 1 minute and dissolves by itself. I have not been taking any Cholestorol meds (medical aid depleted) for the past 7months.
Avatar f tn My partner is having an angiogram after suffering chest pains a few weeks ago. NAD was found at the time from blood tests and ECG (done over 18 hours). Was kept in overnight. Had no discomfort since, but suffers from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol which are all controlled and low due to medication. His chest pains were 4 weeks ago and he's had nothing since.
Avatar n tn my mother is suffering from chest pain now Doctor is saying to go for angiogram test?
