Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram for the eyes

angiogram

Avatar n tn He ran a series of test and told her to return for an Angiogram on the eye with the Fovea. Why is an Angiogram necessary for this type of problem and if the Fovea is still there, is there a cure for it? What can they do for her Fovea? This discussion is related to Cataract Complication: Fovea leakage .
Avatar n tn I had a CT angiogram for heart this week. Compared to a regular angiogram or catheterization , the CT angiogram can be considered a noninvasive procedure. However, in your dad's case the CT angiogram may also be considered risky because of kidney problems. His kidneys may not be able to deal with the dye used for CT angiogram. I am not a doctor so here I am just giving advice based on my on experience.
Avatar m tn An electroretinogram detects widespread damage to or disease of the retina, and so would not be the appropriate test here. An OCT or fluorescein angiogram may be helpful if the retina specialist suspects macular damage. I do think this is unlikely since your eyes were closed and the laser was not aimed directly at your eyes.
Avatar n tn The other doctor who looked at my eyes and told me I have it did look into the eyes and also the photos. He also told me he see the retinopathy in the photos. What I remember seeing in those photos was that the blood vessels or capillaries, some of them seem very thick. but i do not see any dots around them. In your opinion, do you think I have retinopathy or aneurysms?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am 30 years young and have had a fluorescein angiogram about two weeks ago due to blurry/loss vision and change from far sighted all my life (with strabismus) to near sighted (of course I still have the strabismus) in my right eye. The cloudy blurriness I had is gone but the vision loss is the same. The retinal surgeon did find two layers of scar tissue and a big vein under that tissue, and a frawn of veins I believe he said, and some bleeding.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Well the angiogram was normal.....as I expected. He wasn't going to commit to the neuro referral "yet" he said. He believes its RP. On another note I failed the two visual fields tests done that day. I'm very frustrated, because I can see fine. In the VF tests I can't distinguish between the flashing lights and the flashes I have all the time. I've told them that MANY times, but they insist that is the proper test.
Avatar f tn The cloudy blurriness I had is gone but the vision loss is the same. The retinal surgeon did find two layers of scar tissue and a big vein under that tissue, and a frawn of veins I believe he said, and some bleeding. Apparently this is pulling on my retina causing the problem so they decided to do the mentioned test. I have not heard the results of this test of yet as my appointment isn't until the 28th.
Avatar m tn Has anyone had an angiogram with the catheter inserted in arm or neck instead of the groin? I don't think I could take the groin without serious nerve spasms.
Avatar f tn You need to discuss with your personal physician and the radiologist. Both the angiogram and conditions the angiogram is done to detect might causes these.
Avatar m tn I was worried because both circles in my vision manifest at the same time in both eyes. The large outer circle was 3 weeks ago then 2 weeks ago the the inner circle then 1 week ago the dot.
Avatar f tn I've seen seeing these flashes in both of my eyes for almost a year now, flashes are like spots in my vision that appear and disappear when I move my eyes around and they are a LOT more visible on white surfaces, saw two eye specialists last month but I forgot to mention this, they both said my retinas are completely fine.
Avatar m tn Iam 31, 2 Months before i got the chest pain and I immediately rushed to the hospital. They did the ECG and found little changes in V4 - V5. And I went through the angiogram. The angiogram results shows negative. And doctor discharged from hospital with some prescription for 3 months. Still I am getting the pain in center of chest. Two days before I went to doctor and in ECG found the V6 changes in the lead.
Avatar n tn The angiogram is the best procedure and provides the most knowledge for blocked arteries. If needed, they can also measure the pressures in the valves during the angiogram. If you feel you have symptoms of blocked arteries, you should see your doctor.
Avatar m tn Many cardiologists seem to prefer angiogram. I've had both a ct angio and an angiogram and I didn't feel any difference between the two. I still had the same burning sensations from the dye etc in both procedures. I did look at the images from both scans and the angiogram shows everything in real time, actually working. You see the blood flowing, you see the heart pumping and you see the reactions of the arteries. With the ct angio all I saw was a set of still pictures.
Avatar f tn If the OCT and fluoro angiogram have not been repeated since you started to have symptoms in both eyes then need to be repeated. If they have I would get a second opinion from a different eye MD ophthalmologist retina surgeon.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info. An angiogram has been suggested more then likely I will have the proceedure, As someone said keeping still for several hours is the hardest part. My results were from a stress test, which I was able to do physically without pain, at the end I was out of breath but not breathing laboriously. If I could resolve this problem without surgery I would. Can that happen? Thru excercise and diet?
Avatar f tn I read that it can affect any arteries in the body with the carotid and renal the most common. Mine was affecting my legs and I am supposed to have another angiogram so they can take care of the right illiac.
Avatar f tn Hi john, thank you for taking the time to answer my question.I am booked in for an 'OCT Macular' next month which I assume is the angiogram you have mentioned. Is there any non-surgical treatment for a benign retinal cyst and what is the general prognosis?, I am worried that my vision will not improve and as I am a software engineer this is extra important for me.
Avatar m tn It likely will not be able to sort out whether the BRVO was there before surgery and not with the cataract gone and the back of the eye more visible it can be seen now or whether it developed after surgery likely as a result of the high pressure in your eye. Yes BRVO has treatment options: Lasers, injections of VEGF inhibitors (Avastin, Lucentis) or steroids. Some BRVO does not require treatment. Suggest you get a second opinion from a retina specialist.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I am a nurse. My mom recently had gone to her Optomistrist noticing there was a change in her Left eye vision. She has quite deep Myopia as well. So what she describe it as: during focus/concentration at one spot the peripheral side of her left eye field of view is distorted, the lines especially become wavy. So then she was referred to go to her ophthalomogist.
Avatar n tn MRI, MRA, CAT Scan, EEG, EKG, Nuclear stress test, 2 tilt table tests (inconclusive but indicative of BP changes --- not enough to diagnose neurocardiogenic syncope) sonigrams of various parts of my body and LOTS of blood work, including diabetes, cortisol levels, etc. Several months later even had angiogram to completely rule out the heart (FINALLY a month ago, BP / Pulse got stabalized ...
Avatar f tn For about 5 weeks I have had unequal pupil sizes. The left eye they suspect is the one not working correctly as it is the larger one. Both eyes do not react as quickly to light as they should. I had a CT Angiogram that was negative. Then I started having headaches, nausea, and dizziness. So the neurologist sent me to the ER. They did another CT Angiogram that was negative. CBC that was fine and eye pressure test that was fine. They gave me a morphine shot and anti-nausea shot and sent me home.
