angiogram

Avatar m tn CT scan 64-slice angiogram as well as a cath angiogram is by definition an angiogram as both involve a dye injection, but there is more intense radiation exposure with CT angiogram. It is fast becoming the radiological test of choice to look at disease of blood vessels. The next generation of a ct scan will reduce the individual's radiation exposure. The ct angiogram involves an assessment of the body of the vessels as well as the lumen.

Avatar f tn The site provides a definition of cat scan calcium score and cat scan angiogram. I had a CC score and angiogram a couple of years ago. I believe the state-of-art for CAT has scans of 256 slices....provides more detail and sharper images. I find the Mayo Clinic, Minn or Cleveland Clinic to be a good source for medical procedures, tests, dx, prognosis, etc.
Avatar m tn Thanks Lulu, that's what I originally thought until I read the Wikipedia definition. But as most of us know, anybody can write and edit Wikipedia pages :) I hope I can never check that box either...in fact I hope that nobody can ever check that box...that's a fate that I can't imagine.
523728 tn?1264621521 The American Cancer Society reports that "[t]here is no reliable scientific evidence that ****** therapy is effective in treating cancer, and the principles behind it are not widely accepted by the medical community. It is not approved for use in the United States.
Avatar m tn By definition an angiogram is vessel perfusion testing with contrast medium. CAT scan angiogram (CTA). CTA tests use computerized x-ray scanning and are a less invasive way to look at the heart, heart arteries and aortas. Both MRI and CTA tests form three-dimensional imaging of the areas under examination. State-of -art CT scan, 258 slice is in 3D and when slices are reassembled the image is very close to be live viewing and that includes blood flow (4D).
Avatar n tn A normal heart rate ranges from 60-100 beats a minute resting, but there are lots of people that perfectly normal outside those boundaries. A definition of normal would also include what is the heart rate variability, how quickly does it recover after exercise, etc. If you are worried, it is probably best to ask your doctor if everything is ok. Wikipedia has a well written article also. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_rate I hope this helps.

Avatar m tn I had a CT scan last year, a full abdominal scan. By chance the radiologist found atherosclerosis. My pcp checked my BP. It was 95/60/45... It has always been ideal. My total cholesterol had always been normal , my hdl has always been between 40-50. Triglycerides always normal. I quit smoking 25 years ago. My pcp won't refer me to cardiology. She won't do a angiogram to stage my blockage. I would appreciate any advice on how to evaluate my condition. What else can cause ath.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your reply s-h-t-d, I could well be wrong about my self-diagnosis of HSV2. In fact the wikipedia definition and pictures looks a lot more like pearly papsules. However, is it possible that my last girlfriend could have got HSV1 from performing oral sex on me if I have HSV1? The duration was just one or two minutes but the timing of the coldsore makes us both suspicous of a coincidence. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn More recently I saw a cardiologist who sent me for a coronary CT angiogram which also came back normal. I am still worried that it is my heart. Has anyone had similar issues and what were you diagnosed with? My doctors have all said anxiety.
Avatar f tn Now I want to ask you what your definition of soiling is ....mine goes like this ...the child isnt wiping properly so his underwear is always 'soiled' now I ask you is it more than that is he having a 'full' poop.??
Avatar m tn My dad's doctor told my dad that there is a presence of a stent in the left circumflex coronary artery. I wasn't present at the time of his visit so I couldn't ask the doctor for a definition. I checked the internet to find a clear answer but I couldn't understand all of the medical terminology.
Avatar f tn I blacked out prior to the accident and have no memory of anything strange or any unusual feelings prior to blacking out. The original angiogram and x-rays also show degenerative disks C5,-C6 & C7. Could this be the problem.? The doctors tell me my injuries will heal themselves but we need to find out why I blackout out. I am an otherwise very healthy 68 year old female and nothing like this has ever happen to me. We have scheduled a MRI-C-spin, MIR-Brain, MRA-Brain and MRA-Neck.
580765 tn?1274919360 Hey Crystal...how are you doing today? Glad to have you back honey! I have copied the definition for Lhermitte's Sign as follows: Lhermitte's Sign, sometimes called the Barber Chair phenomenon, is an electrical sensation that runs down the back and into the limbs, and is produced by bending the neck forward. Associated conditions The sign suggests a lesion of the dorsal columns of the cervical cord or of the caudal medulla.
Avatar m tn In response to another thread....Don't be confused! An "angio" (angiogram) is by definition an evaluation of the coronary arteries with a contrast medium.
Avatar n tn Doesn't look like it from wikipedia. Your pharmacist will know for sure though as we can't give out medical advice here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metformin Contraindications Metformin is contraindicated in people with any condition that could increase the risk of lactic acidosis, including kidney disorders (creatinine levels over 150 μmol/l (1.7 mg/dL),[47] although this is an arbitrary limit), lung disease and liver disease.
Avatar n tn Yes, blood flow moves the injected agent through the tissues. CTA and cath angiogram by definition are perfusion tests looking for blockage, etc. Total blockage would stop the blood flow to a portion of the heart unless there are collateral vessels bypassing and feeding blood into the area formerly fed by the blocked vessel. Collateral vesses can develop slowly as the bockage inceases. Increase of blockage, increases the gradient pressure across the blocked vessel.
