Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram balloon

angiogram

Avatar m tn If there is an abnormality and they feel an angiogram is necessary, then I wouldn't argue. They know what they are doing. Imagine you have a 10 meter length of copper pipe which has a blockage somewhere. You can't see where the blockage is, so a radioactive contrast dye is injected into the pipe so it can flow through with the water. An x-ray is taken at regular intervals to see inside the pipe, because it picks up the dye.
Avatar f tn By any chance do you know if there is a significant difference in the number of images for an angiogram without stents vs the one that would have two stents? The hospital said that there are 6 discs for an angioplasty (2 stents) but only 1 disc for just the angiogram when they didn't place any stents. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a double bypass in May 2011, three months ago and in the past two weeks i am getting very intense chest pain like i had before the surgery. I am having an angiogram in 5 days time and i am worried as they cannot put stents in because i am on Warfarin (Comadum} and they cannot give me another blood thinner for the platlets as they do when they put in stents. I have just turned 60. Thanks a mill!
Avatar f tn An angiogram will help determine if you blockage(s). I first had the procedure done in 2005 and the doctor found an artery with 90% blockage. He put in a stent.
Avatar m tn They performed an angiogram and the doctor tried to insert the balloon without success. He said he could only get it in half way because prior operations had left to much tissue in the way. Is there a chance there is a doctor around that has more experience in this procedure. Is there an alternative course of action? This discussion is related to <a href="/posts/Heart-Disease/Angiogram-Results-/show/1782206">Angiogram Results </a>.
Avatar f tn If they decide to stent the blockage during your angioplasty procedure, you may just feel a small amount of chest pain for about 5 seconds as they inflate the balloon. This is because it temporarily stops blood flow through that vessel until the balloon is deflated.
Avatar n tn I know that two years ago, aortic valves were replaced successfully in patients in Kings College in London using just a catheter through the artery in the leg, just like an angiogram. The collapsed valve replacement was sent to the correct position and expanded into place using a balloon, squashing the old valve leafs into the heart. As soon as the balloon was deflated, the valve started working immediately. I dont know if this has become common practice now though.
Avatar f tn We are currently discussing the balloon catheterization procedure. My son has a tricuspid valve but two of the leaflets are fused together. It is my understanding that the best thing that could happen is the balloon would tear where it is fused together because there would be less regurgitation after. However, there is no way to control where it tears. Are there any advanced cath procedures where you can control the tear?
Avatar m tn There is a difference between an angiogram and angioplasty. Angiogram is a diagnostic procedure! Angioplasty is therapeutic meaning treatment. Usually, or almost always the diagnostic procedure (angiogram) is performed before there is treatment.
Avatar f tn Had angiogram( 2 stents & 1 balloon angioplasty) and two days later couldn't get a deep breath. Monitored in hospital overnight, no medications given or IV. After on oxygen awhile breathing better but now five days later still can't always get deep breath. Hospital did another echocardiogram and blood enzymes and it was all very good. Oh, one heart enzyme was slightly elevated, but could be from the procedure. Good rhythm and strong beats..
Avatar f tn they asked who my cardiologist was, he was out of town so his partner did an angiogram the following day. It showed a 90% blockage in a branch off the LAD... He told me I also had another 40% blockagein LAD, but seemed unconcerned about it. He said he thot treating me with medication would be the way to go because the blockage was SOFT plaque and he was afraid to mess with the 90% blockage because it could make the LAD WORSE(???) I spent 2 nights and was sent home. ( I have no Insurance)...
Avatar n tn differences between 83 yr. old woman suffered heart attack need angiogram and 45 yr woman suffered heart attack need a balloon angiography who should go first and why?
14250615 tn?1436461895 They might use a more up to date method and go through one of his arms, usually the right. If they see any blockages they will balloon it. This involves inflating a tiny balloon on the end of the catheter to open up the narrowing. They then deflate the balloon, remove it and then go in with a stent. A stent is a wire scaffolding which is pressed against the artery wall with a balloon to keep it open. Once the stent is in place, the balloon is removed leaving a perfect blood flow.
Avatar f tn If you get throat discomfort on exertion this is a classic form of angina due to ischemia. The easy test is to stand still when the discomfort begins. It will usually disappear very quickly, within 2 minutes. Mine goes after just 20 seconds. The medication you are on, statins and Aspirin are not going to make the problem go away, they are to help prevent the blockage getting worse or clots forming in the artery.
Avatar n tn No heart damage was detected, they did an angiogram and found only 10% micro vascular blockages. Then one month ago I had again possible heart attack. Elevated triponin that continued to rise with chest pain. Did not see any stress cardiomyopathy on echo. I again had a repeat angiogram but only showed micro vascular blockages at about 10%. They are puzzled with what is going on. I am active and excise daily, have been eating low fat, low sugar diet for 15 years.
678571 tn?1228012270 I usually go to a cardiologist in another city. But my cardiologist could not perform my scheduled angiogram. My symptoms before this angiogram were chest pain with exertion of any kind. After this angiogram, I have had blood pressure problems, breathing problems, dry cough, shortness of breath and all the other symptoms that my cardiologist wanted me to do an angiogram for. He had said that if I needed an other stent put in. I would need a bypass even though I have small vessels.
Avatar f tn I meant to say and said the cath angiogram was unnecessary unless it was agreed and understood that there would in all probablity be angioplasty (stent, balloon) with a cath angiogram. there is a higher than expected probability there would be a stent implanted with a cath angiogram ...there are statistics available).
Avatar m tn I have another angiogram scheduled. My Cardio DR. is concerned because of a "strong family history" of premature CAD. Here's my history and question. 3/21/14- Unstable anginia and abnormal stress test. Admission to hospital and given angioplasty due to a 90% blockage of the LAD. Diagnosis says:" successful ad hoc PCI to the LAD with a single resolute zotarolimus eluding stent with good results. No complications.
352470 tn?1207296398 He took an EKG which was also irregaular, so he took a series of die tests and stress tests, that also came back irregular. Next month I am having an angiogram. The Dr. says there is no rush, but they will check my heart and it's vaulves and arteries to make sure I don't need a stint or balloon to open things up. I suggest you start with an EKG also, with chest pain you never know what you may find.
19887518 tn?1486048647 Oh I forgot my Echo was clean as well
Avatar n tn What were the reasons for the angiogram and what were the findings? Joan.
Avatar m tn The only difference is, they will inflate a tiny balloon on the end of the wire to stretch the stent into place. While the balloon is inflated (seconds), you will most likely feel a chest pain because the blood supply is cut off during this time. As soon as the balloon is deflated, it's all over. Fingers crossed for the meds though.
Avatar m tn The tests indicated a blockage. I am now waiting for an angiogram. They put me on drugs after the test. I am on 1.25mg Monocor, 5mg Norvasc, 10mg Crestor as well as ASA 81mg - one per day. Now I wait for Angiogram. I am quite freaked out. So I am scheduled for an angiogram on Feb 5th. They tell me there are risks in this test. The risk is 1 in 1000 people die, stroke or have a heart attack during this proceedure. My question is this, Should I get a 64-slice Coronary CT Angiography?
Avatar f tn Something bad happened that night and I woke up the next day with an inter-aortic balloon pump. Told I had gone into cardiogenic shock, and as a last resort they put in pump. In a few days I had it removed and had pacemaker and defib ICD put in. My question is, could I have had tachycardia-mediated cardiomyopathy that was resolved prior to me taking the chemo, and then could I have gotten dilated cardiomyopathy due to the chemo drug?
Avatar f tn My theory is that you have built up scar tissue where the graft is attached to the main artery, or they have performed the bypass incorrectly. Your cardiologist should order a nuclear scan or perform an angiogram to see what is going on. With scar tissue, why didn't they use a DEB before deploying the stent? or just use a drug eluting balloon? I think an angiogram would be best suited for you and ask for FFR to be done at the same time.
Avatar m tn Maybe he has DES balloon technology, something else to ask. This is a drug coated balloon which has been very successful in preventing the blockages re-occurring. The vessel is too small for stenting but the it does supply a significant area of heart muscle. One more question to ask, which could be of importance further down the road, is where the collateral feeds are coming from. I can't see from the images, although it looks like one feed is kind of aimed towards the RCA.
Avatar f tn yes my abdomen part filled like a balloon specially in days before period comes, ididn't try iui yet,how do u find it?&how is it working with u?is it convienient7easy or what?
Avatar f tn What is a balloon? Ive seen a few post of women being induced and they get a balloon put in them.
